This is not my app, but it's a great find and I just thought I would share
Screen Off and Lock
Let's you lock the screen (turn it off) via a long press of the search button. Although there is NO widget, the app icon can be placed onto the home screen or a dock and essentially does the same exact thing.
So far it's working wonders for me, and is an awesome combination with Track Pad Wake.
If you like the app be sure to give it 5 stars and if your feeling generous buy the donate version. Links are provided below if your interested
NOTE: **Before you can UNINSTALL this app, please go to "Setting > Location and Security > Select device administrators" and then uncheck "Screen Off and Lock"**

Sounds good! Will try it out...
Like the voice commands more than something like this. Can't have another program taking over my long press on the search button. Plus a long press takes as much time as just hitting the power button on top.

I've been using this app for a few months now, and I have to say it's a great compliment to the trackpad. No longer do I have to rely solely on the power button to lock the phone. I actually configured the clock portion of Beautiful Widgets to run this screen lock application, so I don't have to have another shortcut on my home screen. It's simply hidden within the BW clock.
PS - Shouldn't this thread be in the apps/themes section?

Love the new Vibrant. Just got it yesterday, but not too fond of the unlock screen as far as the "sweep away" goes. Don't want the pattern unlock either. Suggestions?? Thanks in advance......
There are some good lockscreen replacements apps out there -- WidgetLocker, GOTO, etc. -- but they all seem to have their issues. In my experience, they can (at times) be laggy, show the desktop BEFORE showing the lock screen, and are at times flat out sappy looking. The GOTO lockscreen is *very* nice looking, I must say, but has some bugs to work out. My $.02 on that.
I've actually grown rather fond of the Samsung lockscreen. It let's you swipe any direction that feels natural to you, and is quite responsive. Maybe just keep trying it for awhile and see if it grows on you?
I suppose i'll give it a shot. Would be nice to use a pic of my kids and still have the same ability to swipe it away in any direction. Just not a big fan of the semi opaque screen. Might be a nice double for a picture frame or something. I'll keep trying. Thanks.
There's an app called No Lock that will take the lockscreen away. Works great.
myLock. Google it.

Same. works great. Comes with a widget for quick toggle.
Thanks. Loving No Lock already.
Love it!!! ))
aunlocker is nice but you have to pay for it
Simply Lockscreen Is the lockscreen replacement that I have been using for a few hours seems to work very well when you disable the "statusbar visibale:" and " Show original statusbar:" options.

I use Widget Locker. Good stuff.
The easiest way to check a phone about its various functions or failure of such function is to use its own embedded testing .apk
How to access them is not normally Known to many
All you have to do is
1) Long Press your Desktop
2) Touch shortcuts
3) Touch Activities
4) And you can select activity of any application on your phone ( which has its own pulled down menu to chose from)
By selecting one you will have a shortcut of it placed in your desktop
so all you have to do is now touch that shortcut and its appropriate menu will open for you to test or select from
see screen-shots below
Assuming you have problems with USB connections, Blue tooth, WIFI, Network settings, whatever your phone is supposed to do, can be checked this way including running a ping test etc

If you are using XDA App or Tapatalk, long press on the post and select :good: Thanks Its easier to give "Feedback" in this manner than make an additional post.
Direct shortcuts to activities can be quite useful. One of my main uses is to get access to the fullscreen feeds and updates widget (there is also an activity that allows you to select a few themes for it).
You do however need a launcher such as Launcherpro or Apex launcher installed to get this in the shortcut menu.
Thankyou so much for this insight, I spent 2 years wondering what this option was for and it never crossed my mind to actually try it

I was of course teasing you
For HTC One with firmware 4.2.2 or above, there is a very handy multi-control panel with can allow users enable and disable many features like Wifi, Data, Auto-rotation etc.

However, the stupid Google UI design has made it very slow and complicated to launch the panel with 2 fingers simultaneously or swipe the notification bar down first and press the button to launch Control Panel.
Finally, I figured out a way to launch the Multi-control Panel instantly using one finer
It does NOT require root.
Here are the steps:
1. Download two apps at Google Play: "Nova Launcher" and "Swiping Home Button"
(The second app is a paid app, so you know it...)
2. Launch "Swiping Home Button and click "Binding"
3. You can customize your gesture here and personally I prefer to launch Control Panel by swiping up right (the one with Chinese word)
4. Click on the gesture you like and assign a shortcut to it. We are going to choose "App shortcut" here.
5. Choose "Nova Launcher"
6. Finally, choose "Extended Quick Settings"
You are DONE ! Enjoy the Multi-Control Panel instantly with one finger !

Hey Mate,
Does it mean that Nova Launcher has to be running at the background all times?
I really not sure. But I don't recognize any negative effect in terms of the phone's performance caused by this trick.

Yes. Also, Nova Launcher has gestures as well so I don't get the use of this.

Well, if you use this, then you can still use the Sense Launcher!

I couldn't for the life of me find that thumbtack icon / button which is suppose to be next to the X on the Top of the Action Memo. This will help me put them up on a screen as a widget. check the third image to the right. Any help would be appreciated!

Yeah, I'd love to just go to one of my screens and just start writing. But I can't find that thumbtack button. Here, i found a better picture. Do you see it on yours?
Nope, weird. Closest is long pressing the note within SNote and it gives me an option to send to home as a shortcut...but no pin.
I just saw a similar post in another thread... are you using the stock TW launcher? If you are using a replacemnet launcher like Nova, or Google now Launcher, you will lose the thumtack pin feature in action note. Action notess can only be put onto a TW homescreen.
Doesn't work on default launcher either just tried.

Yeah, that's what I thought it was before I posted this thread. Unfortunately, that darn button won't show up in stock launcher either. I'm thinking it's a different apk??
Maybe ? My Tmo firmware update already hit soon as I turned on don't know if it was there prior.
Ok I got it. From reading a similar thread, they're saying you need a reboot for the pin to show once you switch to touchwiz. I did not do the reboot so it was still missing even with touchwiz.
I'm also going to let nova launcher devs know this issue so they can fix it. For now I'm just going to use the action memo in the minimized form.
Did you get an answer from them?
Sorry I am new to this forum and not sure if this is the place to ask questions. I just got my 6p today and was excited to try the camera but soon found out that I can't preview the photos that was taken in the previous session (like the photos I took with this phone previously). I attached a picture and you can see the lock icon on the lower right corner. Is it supposed to be like this?

That only appears if your phone is not unlocked and you launch the camera from the lockscreen. Otherwise, if you unlock your phone first before launching the camera, then you should be able to see the images there.

I see! Wow that's tricky. I always use the power button push twice to go into camera. Didn't know that's considered "not unlocked". I even unlocked the phone first then push power button twice but no veil. Thanks for cracking the code!

Np. It's mainly for security so a random person can't just go through your gallery. Also, when you double tap the power button, your phone is actually first locked. The double tap for camera shortcut essentially works by sensing the delay between the first tap and the second tap, if it is too small, then launches camera. Otherwise, it just turns your screen on and off, locking your phone.
Edit: my XDA app seems to be out of saying with the rest of the world. There was only the OP post showing when I replied.
