Well i finally went and downloaded tmcmp last night and tried to stream some Orb stuff onto it. Everything that i have tried has given me an error that the file is unsupported. Anyone know why? I've read about a lot of streaming success and this is quite frustrating. I have the newest version of orb and the newest version of tmcmp.

I always use Orb and TCPMP and i've never experienced your problem.
What i do is:
- in TCPMP settings page i've associated the program with the streaming formats (don't remember exactly the extensions but, if you want to be sure, associate everything). This step must be done only once.
- with pocket Internet Explorer i open my.orb.com, login and choose the video to stream
- then, when i press the Play button, TCPMP starts automatically and plays the movie
that's all!

I did just that and when it starts it freezes up for a bit, and then i get the stupid error... this is rather frustrating after reading all the good things about tmcmp... so Please someone help.
well seems that it doesn't wanna open anything... anyone know why? and the error is "Could not open URL!"
haha well finally i figured it out. I was on the BB plan and it would only work with the proxy "getmorespeed.voicestream.com" and i guess tcpmp doesn't support the proxy settings so now that i have the total internet plan it works. Anyway to get around the proxy setting?

Hi,
I'm using the Orb app from www.orb.com, which allows you to stream any media you have on you pc over the net. It allows me to stream my videos with wmp on my EXEC!!!!
However, here's the problem... The video is encoded by orb to a lower resolution than 640x480 and therefore cannot be displayed full screen in wmp.
I have 2 questions to hopefully give me a way of fixing my problem...
1. Is there any other media plyer for the exec that can play stream files?
2. If not, is there a way to modify wmp in any way with a reg/hex editor to make it display full screen?
cheers guys!!
P.S is there anyway to watch the stream from shoutcast tv in WINAMP on the Exec??
what's the URL in WMP?
orb is awesome ... i'm using it to stream live tv to my laptop from my MCE server, but how do you get it to stream to the EXEC?
when i try, pvplayer intercepts the .sdp file and then buffers to give me a low res .3gp display ... which over Wifi is pretty poor. as usual, any help appreciated ...
TIA
you don't put any URL into wmp directly, you have to browse to my.orb.com in pocket IE and then browse to your videos and thn just select the file....wmp will open up automatically....
To make sure it opens your video in wmp, you have to go into the setup section on my.orb.com and make sure that windows media player is set as your favourite player.
Only the problem with that is, is that you can't full screen it! Can anyone help with my original question?
Must admit tho ORB is awesome!!
P.S do you connect via wifi??? If you do can you check and see if you can get the videos to stream with realone player....cos then you'd be able to get full screen. I don't have wifi yet so can't test....
Let me know if that works!
yup, selecting windows media worked fine - somehow i had expected the setting to be server side! sorry didn't get a chance to check out real player ... maybe later today.
ok, regarding resize problem in WMP mobile - this is a known bug and since WMP is in ROM, you'll need to wait for HTC to provide fix ... maybe!
in the meantime, you may want to install TCPMP http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/TCPMP-Download-29994.html
and do a reg hack to switch default player, as follows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:WMPLAYER
change String 1
from wmplayer.exe
to
"\Program Files\TCPMP\player.exe"
or
"\Storage Card\Program Files\TCPMP\player.exe" if its installed on SD.
you will need at least version 0.71 o TCPMP which understands WMP10 http streams.
voila - full screen in landscape live streaming!
hi
just tried the modified registry entry and......zilch! can you confirm that the settings above work?
thanks

copy it exactly and it will work, quote symbols, capitals etc....
I had the same problem and hit my head when i relised that it was such a simple thing to fix.

I also had this problem. TCPMP worked great, but I could not get it to be the default. Then I tried keying it in exactly as posted on another thread including the quotes and it has worked great.
It is nice to have full screen. I use it to watch cable TV via gprs and wifi using orb. And also to watch saved TV shows or DVD's. Too Bad WMP does not have full screen. WMP seems to work better over GPRS.
It doesn't work on my MDA Pro. I have changed the string 1 like written above, but my defoult player is still WMP. I use TCPMP 0.71. Have tried program "My Extension" too, but WMP is still the defoult player. What culd be the reason?
After reading this thread ive downloaded ORB and got everything working but i want to use TCPMP as my default player (for full screen), but because im such a dummy i dont know how to do a reg hack. I have TCPMP already so can someone tell me where to start with this reg hack thing. Please Thankyou.
Thanks for the reg change. Just made the change exactly as posted above inlcuding the speech marks and it works great. ORB is a lot more useful with full screen video.
Have to make sure that you kill off media player before you test it either by a reset or some sort of task manager. Just using the X to close it isnt enough.
use phm (free) or by resco explorer to do the registry changes.
if youare a big user of these devices your going to need it.
right when I try to watch streaming video it opens realplayer, which won't play it? I want window streming media play back!
how do I make that the defult? or remove realplayer?
it doesn't show in the add/remove programes and if I serach file exp for real or realplayer it finds nothing!
messed about last night for a few hours still can get rid off it?
i second this does anyone know how to get 3gp streaming(rtsp) to work. I always get an error. i have taken off both proxys (hardcoded) and still get nothing. im still using the att rom
u need a rom that has streaming media.. most of the WM6 roms have streaming media.. I had that problem until I upgraded again to WM6.. now it works fine..
I also found that streaming media doesn't work for me straight off - I have to tell it which connection to use by going into it and then into options. Once I did this, it worked OK
Smiffy.

Hi all
I hope all you Brits out there are enjoying the snow. My office is closed today so I thought I'd share my experience of using the BBC iPlayer. I believe it can work for you too, if you're UK based. N.B. at the moment it only works over WiFi. Don't blame me for that, it's the BBC's restriction on their website. Also, this worked on my Kaiser, so again no guarantees it'll work on other devices, but I see no reason why it wouldn't.
Here's what I did:
Install the Opera 9.5.15529 cab that are attached to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475986
You will also need HTC Streaming Media. I've attached a version available on this forum. I don't actually know whether this will work on your device as I have the sreaming media cooked into my ROM (see below). Obviously if you have a VGA device you should use the equivelant version of Opera for VGA devices.
There are two other files attached. ASPlayer.exe and ASPlayerLNK.lnk. ASPLayer.exe is infact VJBrisk.exe renamed from an installation of VJBrisk by Vijay555 and a renamed link to the sreaming media player application. If you are installing the Media Player app attached then you need to check the shortcut to ensure it's correct. The one attached is for the executible in the windows folder (\Windows\StreamingPlayer.exe). You can edit shortcuts on your device using TotalCommander.
Once you're happy that the link is correct, copy ASPlayer.exe and ASPlayerLNK.lnk to the \Windows directory of your device.
In Opera type: opera:config in the address bar. Scroll down to User Prefs and open this section. Go to Custom User-Agent. Here type "sgh-i900" without the quotes and then scroll down and select save. Exit Opera and restart it. Go to:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer
in Opera and you will see the mobile iPlayer page load up. Select your chosen TV or Radio programme and click to play. The streaming app should now open and display your programme.
Hope this helps. I watched "Who do you think you are?" with Rory Bremner in bed this morning!
Best wishes

Thank you for this tut, I have followed your instructions and all seem to be ok (I didn't watch a video but the streaming media did kick in when i clicked play.
I will test later and get back to you
I got as far as the file being played. Audio is fine, but no picture.
Any Ideas?

Hi
If the HTC Streaming Media doesn't work on the Xperia then you will need equivelant software. You could try the media player attached if nothing else works. Real player might work also. Obviously you'd need to manually edit the shortcut in this case but hopefully you can get it working.

Hi
Yes, this is the way the website behaves. Obviously the BBC believe that this is necessary at the moment as they'd rather no compromise on quality.
I guess for now this is not available for phones with no wifi connection. I'll change the first post to make this clearer.
Many thanks

Your post is it VGA or QVGA as sounds great
Almost there!
Thanks for your post, I'm using a Hermes wm6 with your htc streaming media installed. It opens up streaming media ok but then has an unknown error message (both for tv and radio). Could be running low on ram causing the problem. Also tried Skyfire but it doesn't like the IP address and doesn't recognise me as British. I am not giving up just yet though!
Just tried on a Touch... sound only however nothing at all on live streams (memory not an issue here, my ten year olds xmas pressie!)
QVGA

Hi wapvirus
It's QVGA but should work with a VGA device as long as the correct streaming media player is installed and can be linked to the ASPlayer.exe shortcut in \Windows.
Hope that helps. Love your QVGA colour task bar items by the way!

Help me plz
Still tryin on my hermes, the best player to date was a dopod version (works perfectly.... but no video!!! Sounds great). After a little search I stumble on an updated tcpmp player which should play the files ok BUT how do I change the ASPlayer to use this as default, or do I change one of the Streaming Media files to use tcpmp ? It will not let me change the aslink.ink page and I presume we leave the opera setting on sgh-i900. I think I have at least 10 different media and streaming players now installed & have become very confused...
shame this cant be make into apanel for the x1 like they have done with youtube

Hi redflag
The simple answer is that you need to edit the destination of the shortcut: ASPlayerLNK.lnk which you copy into windows along with ASPlayer.exe. This link can be edited with the file editor in Total Commander PPC. Hope that helps. If you're unsure about shortcut editing do a search for it on this forum.
Cheers

Success... kind of
Thanks for your reply, have taken a flood day off work! Total Commander is not letting me save the edited LNK.Ink file so I went back and had another go at Skyfire and have got it working on both my hermes and on a touch. The only disappointment is that ,whilst Skyfire uses the main iplayer site which allows downloads, it doesn't feature live tv which yours does by using the mobile site. Keep up the good work!
Had problems getting video to work but when I used this version of the HTC Streaming Player it all worked fine!

media file not supported?
thanks andrew-in-working
so i followed you instructions...opera installed, streaming media, changed user pref. All goes very well from iplayer in opera, link to streaming media and then... streaming media opens, a black screen and 0% buffering message appears, it hangs for a while and tells me this:
"media file not supported"
any idea why it should state this? odd that it is not recognising a file type?
any help would be appreciated..
Hey guys,
as the title say, I am searching for an App for streaming internet radio. I found Slacker and Pandora by searching the forum, but both programs only work in the USA.
Since I'm in Germany, I'm searching for an App which can stream internet radio over here.
ACTUALLY:
It is just about this radio station I want to listen to on my TP2: http://radiometro.com.au/player/listenonline.html
I copied this link into the "Streaming Media App" on my TP2, but it only said 'invalid link'. So if anyone could tell me how I could get it done to stream this radio station on my device, I would really appreciate.
Thanks,
Don
Try this one;

I am using for a long time, and its awesome. many different style-oriented radios as well as regular ones. you can see track list on the screen.
I love it.
Enjoy

open that page in your browser. In the View menu select Page Source
About a quarter of the way down you will find a line containing this
http://67.220.196.164:7777/listen.pls
Copy that and paste it into your browser (or alternatively copy the one above). When prompted save the file to your hard disk then copy it to your storage card.
Coreplayer will open it and play your radio station

Thanks a lot for the replies, but unfortunately none of them solved my problem.
@ royhapper: Installed it, started it, selected a channel, can't hear anything. Tried lots of channels, did 3 softresets,... reinstalled it,... no chance. Doesnt work
@ stunno: downloaded the listen.pls, but I dont feel like spending $30 on the CorePlayer. I know that I could use it for more than just streaming Radio, it definitely looks like a good player, but still.... $30 seems a little overpriced in my opinion.
Any other solution?

Give miasto muzyki one more try, I suggest. I am also having same problems since 2-3 days, its a system update or something I suppose. But now its working. I am listening at least.
This is a radio from Poland, you are closer than me, it must be easier for you )
@ royhapper: Still doesnt work.
I found an App called "Wunder Radio" which lets you listen to just about any radio station on this planet. There is a 15 day Trial Version,... and you can get a licence fpr $14.95

Still dont want to pay though,... so if anyone figures a cost-free way, let us know
Try GSPlayer. It's a freeware media player that can play Shoutcast and other internet streams. I just tried it with the site you are trying to stream and it works just fine.
1. Download GSPlayer from http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA032810/
2. In GSPlayer select Menu > File > Open URL
3. Put in 67.220.196.164:7777 (don't add the /listen.pls part or it won't work)
4. It should start buffering and streaming...
It worked for me, and it shouldn't be limited to the US, since the GSplayer is from a Japanese site.

what's the exact url of the site? and which browser did you use on your phone to access it?
As far as stopping Google from formatting your pages, do this:
Open opera and perform a google search
Scroll to the bottom of the search results and look for the link called "Settings"
(You may have to zoom in to click the link)
Under "Format web pages for your phone", click "Off"
(I also click "Off on "SafeSearch" and "Save Recent Locations")
Voila, all webpages will now be formatted via opera instead of Google.

Ok, I got the URL you PM'd (http://local.trio.ee/ot/mp3/mp3player/elmarwmp.html) and opened it in my desktop browser first. It did just open a WMP plugin and started an mp3 stream, but it took quite a while to buffer at first, and kept needing to pause and re-buffer every minute or so...so it looks like the feed isn't that stable to begin with.
Now, I tried opening that url directly in WMP on the phone, and it wouldn't play it...it started to open, then just gave an "error has occured" message and wouldn't play it. So, even if there is a 'wmp plugin' for opera (I've never seen one), it probably wouldn't help in this case since the onboard WMP doesn't seem capable of playing it anyway.
Some of the other common media players (TCPMP/Coreplayer, nitrogen, etc) might be able to open that url and play the stream, but I don't have any on hand right now to test. Each of them has an option to "open URL", just find that and put that address in and see if they can do it any better.
EDIT: The stream that the player at that URL starts is this: http://striiming.trio.ee:8008/elmar.mp3?stream=elmar&format=mp3. I tried that in WMP as well, it said the file was corrupt or in a format it couldn't play. Opera offered to open the file, and did play the music, but it only played the current track being streamed (that stream seems to serve up a rotation of ~3MB mp3's) once it finished downloading the whole mp3.
