Running macros in pocket Excel T-Mobile MDA PRO - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi,
I have two questions:
Is there a way that I could run macros in pocket Excel?
My battery goes dead at 70% and I'm not sure what's causing the problem.
Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards

Macros in Pocket Excel
Unfortunately PocketExcel doesn;t support Macros.
Furthermore if you have a file sync'd with your Pc that has macros in, and you update it on your PPC - sync it again back to the PC, then the Macros have been removed .... good old M$

bypass software checking?

anybody know how to full installation into thinking that its installing the device with pocketpc 2002? i'm running 2003 and most of the software refuses to install via setup and pocket plus refuses to install even by copying the .cab file. any ideas what string to change in the registry?
thanks
alex
Pocket Plus is known to be so far incompatible with Mobile Windows 2003 for Pocket PC (aka PPC2003). Core OS differences in the Today plugin spec seem to be preventing it from running.
Watch for an update soon by the great spb developers (no, I don't have any affiliation with them other than the email I got when I asked the same thing).
thanks. i don't really care for today plug in as i want the close button.
You may want to try Gigatask, www.gigatask.com, from the makers of
GigaBar in the meantime
Or if you'd like a cascading start menu with task closer to boot, try
SmallMenu Plus from www.tillanosoft.com.
I use both on the opposite corners of my menubar, and each
complements the other wonderfully.
Oh, and by the way, I've sent you a pm.

help needed, serial v1.01

Hi everyone
I own a XDA2 which I love and cherish very much.
I´ve being trying a lot of new things to me but I got at the point that on the screen it says:
serial
v1.01
I take it that I have deleted some things that I do need now (good lesson for me). It could be that I chose the wrong rom when upgrading?
Can anyone help me or appoint me to the right direction please?
relaunch the upgrade procedure.
If it fails, try on each usb port (for me it only worked on one)
check also the device code of the files (O2, Qtek etc)
thanks for replying, itsmetoo
I can´t communicate with my laptop at all and the XDA2 does not switch on (just a black screen with grey font that say:serial and v1.o1). Is it possible that some how I have lost my software? and, can I get the software listed below from anywhere?

i think a lot would agree with me when i say the ultimate must have app is Spb Pocket Plus 3.0
I would add Resco explorer with reg.& ftp plugin, Sprite back-up, PHM mechanic, PHM powertoys & VGS mail (runs imap on your magician, found on this forum). Running airscanner firewall & Trend micro mobile security as well. Testing magic button for really closing apps. I belief spb leaks too much memory. That's personal ofcourse.

Here's the list of my must have's and how to's. To start with, installing the Big Storage ROM will make your device way faster, but ONLY IF you install most of the programs in Storage. This way, your free RAM will be 13Mb Prog/9Mb Storage most of the time!
The list of essential programs I don't do without:
1) SBSH Pocket Breeze: gives a lot of information on the Today screen and is not performance hungry. Very very stable. I installed in Storage.
2) Pocket Max PhoneAlarm: Today plug-in that allows you set profiles and assign MP3 tones to SMS as well.
3) Sprite Backup: Simply the best backup tool that also comes with Sprite Space Detective and a Today Plug-in for battery and memory monitoring. Using this plug-in I saved myself from installing SPB Pocket Plus (I don't want to run programs from a today plug-in, most of them are accessible from the Start menu anyway).
4) TKCreator: a theme editor that allows me to modify themes on the PPC and also select themes stored anywhere on the device without modifying the registry. FREE.
5) PSShutXP: a program that lets you soft-reset the PPC without having to fiddle with the stylus. FREE.
6) TCPMP (Beta Player): for those weird formats that WMP10 does not recognise
7) MemMaid: Mostly useful to delete Internet Cache and Mail attachment. You wouldn't need the Bad Installation clean ups if you stick to only the software you use and the only software that works. When I want to fiddle with some new software I just take a backup before I start and restore if I need to.
8) Microsoft Voice Command: ideal in the car, where I just say "Play ..." or "Call ..." at the press of a button.
9) Modified MS BT stack: at least this stack works properly with my wife's Nokia 6230. A2DP is also welcome with this stack.
10) MobiPocket Reader: a very cool RSS/News reader that I snychronise every morning, thus making my favorite daily readings available off-line any time of the day. (I'm subsribed (FREE) to CNN, BBC News, BBC Tech, The Register, Pocket PC Thoughts, MS Windows Mobile Team Blog, The Times of Malta and Soccer Net.)
Finally, with regards to closing apps as opposed to minimising them (one of the most popular features of SPB Pocket Plus), I found that with plenty of RAM available (after installing all progs to Storage), leaving the apps runnning in the background makes the Magician MUCH MORE responsive.
Since I installed the above setup I never ever had to reset the device. It's the best I ever had. Almost flawless.

I have only two apps running. Spb Pocket Plus and tAgenda. Between the two, I have all the information I need. I prefer to keep my memory useage low, so that when I open those two or three applications, they have lots of memory.
kta: I've searched, but can only find onfo on the Bluesoleil BT stack - not a modified MS stack. Can you please direct us to info on how to do this upgrade.

eliminate unused soft from Vario II? AKA tame the WM5 beast

I just got this little monster a few day ago and I have been trying to make it lighter (software side). I have read many posts about the bloated WM5 and how a Vario I or even a WM2003 Pocket PC/Smartphone outperforms the Vario II (TyTn) in many tasks. First I was all for the "make the Today screen full of useful stuff", but I realized the mistake of doing that... your device crawls almost to a stop. So now I am going for the simplicity aproach, leave all the functionality in the start menu.
First things first... what software or files can be safely deleted or uninstaled from the device? (Including Windows folder). for example I will never use PowerPoint mobile, Excel mobile and I dont "push" any email. I don't even have Outlook in my computer (too many risks and the mobile does not recognize that I use Thurderbird). I would also prefer if the mobile did not start up Activesync by itself, but only after I connected it to the computer. In a final note, this are the contents of my startup directory:
elatepushservice
poutlook
sddaemon
services
Do I need all those files? What is poutlook and elatepushservice?
Any tips to make the mobile faster in any way?

Sound problem with HTC P4350

With apparently no reason, the phone's sounds start playing on about 1.5x speed. This is happening with all the ringtones and even if I play a file with WMP. And most annoyingly, when I call anyone (or being called), only the speakerphone works, no matter whether you turn it on or off. These two problems seem to go together. There are no apparent reasons nor for their start, neither for their end. Can anyone help?
Have you soft reset? What recent programs have you installed?
Soft Reset doesn't help at all. I have the same programs as on my previous Qtek S200 plus one very lite program for fuel consumption, which I run only about twice a week.
Well I am glad that you have the same programs on it as you had on your Qtek but that really doesn't help.
Do you have any program that has anything to do with sound installed?
What I meant is, that my old S200 worked just fine with these programs. Here's the complete list in reverse installation order:
CoreCodec CorePlayer
PocketX Photo Contacts PRO
DinarSoft MemMaid
LinkeSOFT Automobile
MASPware AutoManager
PDAGear.net Expense Diary
Mibigloo Texas Hold'em Poker Odds Calculator
Resco Photo Viewer
Chi-Tai Dang BatteryStatus TD-Plugin
Spb Backup
Opera
Infinite Dreams SkyForce Reloaded
Resco Explorer + Today Plugin + Registry Add-in + FTP Add-in
ICQ for PPC
TofClock TodayPlugin
Skype
What I am wondering is if one of these programs is having an effect on the sound.
Did it happen after you installed a program or made any changes? Have you tried hardreseting?
Anyway, HTC announced they will be upgrading P4350 to WM6 soon, so I'll just wait and see what happens. Thank you for your advices.
Hello,
Have you managed to solve this problem?
I have the same problem now that I have upgraded to WM6 and I have not heard of anyone else with the same effect.
If you have found a solution, I would be very interested in knowing what you did.
Many thanks in advance
Nick
I am having this problem now too. The ringtone thing had happened many times before and was always fixed with a soft reset. But the speakerphone thing is a deal breaker, and now active sync is not even working. Any solutions to this yet?
No Sound - No Active Sync
Same problem here, my Herald doesn't produce any sound and ActiveSync doesn't recognise it. Someone got a solution?
Hey ppl, have you tried using the Active Sync Trouble shooter? Also be sure that your connections are reconized by your computer(usb controller which is in control manager) and that your pda is set to be read by cable/bluetooth, depending on what you work with.
Peace!
