Hi everyone
I own a XDA2 which I love and cherish very much.
I´ve being trying a lot of new things to me but I got at the point that on the screen it says:
serial
v1.01
I take it that I have deleted some things that I do need now (good lesson for me). It could be that I chose the wrong rom when upgrading?
Can anyone help me or appoint me to the right direction please?
relaunch the upgrade procedure.
If it fails, try on each usb port (for me it only worked on one)
check also the device code of the files (O2, Qtek etc)
thanks for replying, itsmetoo
I can´t communicate with my laptop at all and the XDA2 does not switch on (just a black screen with grey font that say:serial and v1.o1). Is it possible that some how I have lost my software? and, can I get the software listed below from anywhere?

I'm a .NET server-side developer who's 100% new to PDA programming. I know the various SDKs exist but I haven't downloaded them or their associated emulators. I've skimmed the MS docs, but I haven't played with them to see what they can really do.
I'm looking for the sort-of opposite of an emulator.
We have PDA-connected software that we're demo-ing at a tradeshow. But the real demo is of the server-side stuff we've built; the PDA is essentially a dumb terminal using only its built-in browser & Outlook.
We need to run the demo on the real PDA but have the results visible to a large audience. So the goal is to somehow make the PDA's screen appear on our VGA projector that'll spray the image on the large screen behind the presenter.
Right now our first-cut plan is to have the PDA connected to a PC via the sync cradle. Then all we need is some software on either the PC or the PDA that'll drag the real-time screen image to the PC.
Does anyone know of such a program?
In the alternative, do the MS SDK emulators include the full functionality of a typical PDA, such as browser & Outlook so I can simply use the emulator and the PC's network connection to simulate the browser/Outlook & over-the-air connectivity, with no real PDA in the demo? The demo doesn't need any telephony capability, just TCP/IP connectivity.
If the emulators do have that capability, which one(s) do I need? There are a bunch of SDKs and emulators available & I don't really have time to grab them all and uninstall - reinstall hunting for the right one. We're looking for something that's American-market compatible and we don't much care which specific hardware device(s) it's emulating.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll return the favor somehow.
hi,
if you need to show the PDA acreen on your PC monitor then you can use aprogram called PPC controller.
it even anables you to control the PDA from the PC.
http://www.soti.net/
hope thats what you are looking for.
Thanks, that was EXACTLY what I was looking for.
It'll also be a big hit around here for a bunch of other uses. All that and inexpensive as well.
Thanks again, and the next time you have some server-side .NET headscratcher, send me a note. I owe you one.
Another option is the free powertoy for PocketPC MS Remote Desktop Control and Activesync.
If the device has Bluetooth like the XDA2 then you can ActiveSync using Bluetooth and the presenter can wander within about 10 meters of the PC with the bluetooth connection and teh projector.
Hi
Is it possible to connect a PC running hyper terminal, to a PPC such as an XDA2 running a terminal like zterm and send characters between them?
Cheers
Justin
Haven't tried it. I don't know for what purpose you want that but if it is meant to control de PPC from your desktop than it would be wise to use the Remote Display tool from Microsoft.
It gives you an exact copy of your display on your dekstop and you can tap with your mouse.

I had problems with this and older version. No .jpg images, however, thehy are downloaded. Can you verify this?
Netfront
I managed to get Netfront working on my jasjar (after following the instructions from another forum). It does not work when my connection is wifi, but it does work with a 3g, gprs connection. You need first to open the standard explorer and connect to the internet (3g,gprs) and then close ie and open netfront. Works fine after that.
RSS Reader that actually aggregates?
I'm trying to find a reader that allows a 'river of news' style of usage ( http://www.reallysimplesyndication.com/riverOfNews )
i.e. It shows all the items from all feeds in one list in date order. Can anyone suggest one?
Hi,
I have two questions:
Is there a way that I could run macros in pocket Excel?
My battery goes dead at 70% and I'm not sure what's causing the problem.
Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards
Macros in Pocket Excel
Unfortunately PocketExcel doesn;t support Macros.
Furthermore if you have a file sync'd with your Pc that has macros in, and you update it on your PPC - sync it again back to the PC, then the Macros have been removed .... good old M$

There are several steps: (WM6 side and PC side)
WM6 Side:
Need to go into Bluetooth settings: \settings\connections\bluetooth
Once you've got there at the bottom of the screen you will find several tabs
(Devices\Mode\Com Ports\FTP\Security)
Go To:
(Mode Tab) Check off both, bluetooth turned on and bluetooth is visible.
Go To:
(FTP Tab) Enable bluetooth explorer, file sharing and choose the folder you'd like to share. (I shared my SD card)
PC Side:
Now you need to pair your PC to your WM6 device
Once you've paired your device you should be set to transfer files back and forth to Desktop and WM6 device
Options:
Remember there are several options you can adjust if you want to customize your pairing.
Some options you may want to consider:
Is your PC visible to your WM6 device? And how often will it look?
Setting up you device on your PC to always allow to avoid the password?
Checking your device to ensure all the Bluetooth options you want for this particular pair are checked off (Stereo, headset & ActiveSync)
These are just a few, so play around with both sides till it meets your needs.
wow. I never know how to use this feature either. I am gonna try this tonight. If it works, then I don't need to use my card reader anymore. Just share with bluetooth. Thanks a lot for the info.
Thanks a lot! Actually I don't know why I could not get it work.
Yesterday I tried it on my home PC (BT ver 2.0 EDR, Vista, BlueSoleil soft) and worked like a charm.
Before I had tried it on my business laptop with XP Pro SP2 and generic MS BT stack and maybe this is why I had problems.
To be honest I didn't even want to install BlueSoleil as MS stack was ok for what I needed (except that FTP) but unfortunatelly my new BT dongle was not even recognized by Vista. And since I got BlueSoleil on my PC it works great. Thanks for feedback!
