Upgrading 101 ...

Hello there!
I need help understanding how upgrading works from ppc2002 to wm2k3. Is RUU and RSU related? I mean when you upgrade your RUU, do you automatically upgrade your RSU? Also, I have a Siemens SX56, but for some reason, Siemens is not giving the upgrade anymore. Is there any other place I can get that upgrade, or I can use any other phone upgrade? Also, this Kitchen Rom thing'e has been making me curious. Just wanna know what that is? If you guys can answer these questions for me, I will be very appreciated by me and by others who read this thread :mrgreen:

RUU and RSU can be upgrade through one exe file from the operators but it's NOT recommended to touch the RSU as long as it's working.

Thanx for your help! Really Appreciate it! I have cooked my SX-56 with A.30.09 ENG. It works perfect with no errors and no memory leaks. I'm Lovin' It! I like the newer version!

Actually the Tmobile 4.01.16 rom came out to be better than the AT&T A30.09 rom. I actually have a Siemens SX56 that AT&T sells but my service is from T-Mobile. Before what ever Rom I had, Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger never worked with my T-Mobile Wap Service. But after installing the T-Mobile rom, both the internet explorer and msn messenger are working. The speed is kind of slow but they work. :lol:

unlocking for 8125 on the new cingular rom???

i have an 8125 with the new cingular rom i think its 2.25 or something. anyway i was wondering if anyone could direct me to the unlocking program for it. i have tried one and it didnt work

it is supported by JAFWM, it is not free but it works 100%

koolhand79, I just unlocked my cingular 8125 with the following setting without any problem:
IPL 2.25
SPL 2.25
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.25.11.1
Make sure you use lokiwiz03a.zip and follow the instruction precisely. Good luck!

I tried to unlock my 8125 but it never worked and I dont know what I'm doing wrong. I'm into the computer much but I try if there is anyone tha can help me please do so. I can help you say if your with cingular and maybe tmobile.

Cingular ROM update following SIM unlock
I have already SIM unlocked my 8125, If I update to the latest cingular ROM will the SIM remain unlocked ? or will I have to re-unlock it ??

which rom should I pick?

Quick question for all you pros out there. I just purchased the att version of the siemens sx56. Will receive in mail shortly. I want to upgrade to wm2003. As this is the 900/1900 verision, is it ok to use the qtek Rom 4.02.04. From what I understand the qtek 1010 is a 900/1800. Will this cause any problems?
Also is the t-mobile rom 4.01.16 any better than qtek rom?

Selecting any ROM causes no difference to the radiostack of the device. So you could take any ROM you want.
Selecting the ROM depends a little bit on the way you want to use the device.
The T-Mobile ROMs often have the Problem of reflashing the device. My personal
favorite is the 4.01.12

Thanks for the quick reply. I will be using the internet a lot primarily through gprs and just want a stable Rom that wont hang or give me crazy problems.
What exactly about the 4.01.12 rom do you like over the others available?

I like the wmodem application of the ROM, also reflashing is easy possible.
And it´s one of the ROM´s that was nearly official announces by o2...

I am very much a newbie and now I find myself with a brick of a phone. I wanted to put a new rom with the touch flo on it but it did not work. I upgraded to the SPL 3.08 I think that the right number and then I try to download the diamond 2.0. However the ROM did DL correctly but when I wne to configure it it said windows.autoconfig not found on my 8125 wtf is that all about. I own a cingular 8125. I dont know where to start now. All I want is the touch flow rom but how and where do I start. I even tried to flash it back to the HTC OEM rom but I could not do it. Please anyone?? Help por favor....

I would try to help you, but you will need to type (give) more information that those that I give/ask you. I'll need to know
- Your phone, G3/G4, IPL/SPL/OS/Radio
- The OS you flash page, instructions followed
- Your PC OS used
Read the Wiki (on top of this page, XDA-Wiki) on Wizard section on how to un-brick your phone.

I have a g3 type but I dont have the phone with me. I switched my sim to my treo for now. the OS ROM I tried to flash it with was Diamond 2.0 my SPL 3.08. Any help would be greatful

I have a Cingular 8125 and the ROM I currently have is a Wizard Love/ AKU 2.3
When I turn my phone on it reads this
IPL 3.08
SPL 3.08
GSM 2.25.11
OS. 2.26.10.2
This is what I wanted to do. I wanted to put WM6 with the Touchflo on it but now I am stuck with this ROM I know nothing about. When I try to flash it back to the Cingular ROM is will not update I need a new NBF file? If you can help I would be greatly thankful and would donate to you.

im kinda new to this i just unlocked my 8125 for tmobile and i did the tmobile rom so which wm6 rom would be the best my ipl and spl are 2.26 and my radio is 2.26.10.105 i dont know which roms are good for my phone or not cuz there are so many plz help any more info lmk thanks
