Im looking for a free task manager that can display memory used, cpu use, and current processes that are running on my phone. it would be great if there are any. just need it to manage free memory and stuff.

Try this apps :
- iTaskMgr
- TaskMgrv 1.6

For keeping the memory free i use Magic Button for Pocket PC.

What is the best software to FREE UP RAM?!?!

I need to know what the best software to FREE UP RAM is.
I have TMO MDA, 2.17 TMO Custom Rom
The device says I have around 55% of Free RAM after soft-reset, but as the day winds down and I use programs, go on the internet, activesync etc. The ram goes away, EVEN AFTER I 'STOP ALL PROGRAMS' the ram is down to around 40% or less
How do I lose 15% RAM from soft-reset till then if I'm running no more programs at that point than I was after the soft-reset?
And more importantly HOW DO I RESTORE THIS RAM without a soft-reset...certainly there has to be a program up there that you can execute that will FREE up that HIDDEN/LOST RAM!!
Muchos gracias in advancias
I have a Magician not a Wizard but I guess it happens to any PDA.
EVEN AFTER I 'STOP ALL PROGRAMS'

By this you mean, using the Task Manager? If yes, I don't have an answer to your question. If no, when programs are closed they are not fully terminated but somehow are in the background.
In any case, try software like SPB Pocket Plus or some 3rd party task managers.
SK tools available from http://s-k-tools.com/ includes a stand-alone utility for freeing RAM. SK tools is not free but there is a trial available.
Yes I am using a task manager - Spb Pocket Plus - to completely close these the programs but the RAM is still gone.
I have no clue what to do...anyone?
I had a similar problem where the memory was down to a very low level.
I ran Memmaid and it cured the problem.

Might work for you.
ram eaters
when we are on the net the clutter gets collected in temp memory and cache folders. even using other programs. closing a program is not enough, these have to cleared. inherent soft reset does the job but, is cumbersome , so Sk Tools , Memmaid will do it for you or stand alone software like free up ram, clean ramare examples. hope that answers.
Use ClearTemp to remove temporary files, cache files, and other clutter that fills up your storage memory. Use QuickMenu's Hibernate function to clear memory leaks, and use QuickMenu's settings to have programs close on a short tap, and minimize on a long tap. If you just want a stand-alone hibernate program, use Oxios Hibernate (packaged with Closeapps, which closes all running applications).

Some programs (nk.exe, gwes.exe) are system-required, and will experience RAM leaks, especially in home-cooked ROMs. There's little beyond what I've already said that will fix that, other than what you've already discovered: rebooting. It's kind of like expecting your home computer to stay booted indefinitely. If you try it, eventually something is going to happen that will force you to reboot.

program memory Q

Hi,
I have about 8MB program memory left in my phone during normal use.
I have the following installed and running in normal use.. no other plugins/apps going other than the occasional bringing up of the Messaging app:
VC 1.6
SPB mobile shell
PTT fix
PocketInformant (usually closed if i can help it though)
AKU3.3 ROM update
This is taking up 40MB of program memory.
Three questions:
- Does this seem high?
- Can i find out how much memory each running app is consuming?
- Is there anything i can do to imrove the amt of free memory? Im worried about having a few more apps open and running out.
If you have done a lot of web browsing the ie cache takes up a load of space. From inside ie select options and memory and clear pages. I regularly free up 10-15mb of memory this way

newbie - RAM on Titan?

Hey, I've been encountering some issues with RAM on my Titan. it's probably some sort of misunderstanding on my part. Usually I have about 16MB free with nothing running. The Titan has 64MB RAM. When I look at processes, they should only be using about 11MB total. I don't understand what's going on here; where is this extra 36MB going? I'm using the No2Chem ROM.
Without getting into too much detail, there are other processes running as well that aren't listed in the Task Manager. Think of the basic task manager as the "Applications" tab on your normal Windows task manager; it shows programs that are running. While that may be empty - if you were to click on the "Processes" tab, you might find 30 different processes still running.
There ARE other memory manager apps you can find which will give you the detail on all the processes, just do a search for memory managers.
And - if it makes you feel any better, 16mb is about average as far as your memory goes. I have a few things running on mine, and get 8-10mb free - if I'm lucky...memory is the biggest drawback on this device, but not a total deal breaker for me. Its manageable.

Enhancing Program Memory

Hi All,
i am a new user to PDA phones. I was using the PointUI home freeware(similar to SPB Home). On turning on the Audio manager, i found the phone becoming slow. The free memory shown was 9.15 MB.I hence uninstalled the PointUI freeware and checked the program memory usage. Even while not any applications, call or msg these are the stats:
Prog Mem: 43.24 MB
In Use: 22.16 MB
Free: 21.08 MB
I would like to know why the In Use memory is taking 50% of the space while NOT running any applications!
and is there any way to enhance the program performance?!!
Apolagize if the question is wierd..just a lay mans' question...
The memory usage is because the OS needs itself to be loaded into memory before you can use the phone. Like in a computer, if you have 1 GB RAM installed, you will not get one GB free when the system boots up. This is applicable to phones as well, it doesn't matter whether its a smartphone/pda or not.
faster GENE!!!
NO guys...u cant make your gene faster by any method even after installing only 1 app!
the fact is when u reboot yr pda the free memory is around 21mb
but as you open applications some of them continue to run in d background.
so use a 3rd party app like 'advanced task manager 0.8' to kill unwanted processes.,.then u will get atleast 12mb free!!
lollll..................
Advanced Task Manager
Hi,
hey is the advenced task manager better than the one provided with the Phone???
If so .. how???? i mean you can see the running processes in the normal task manager too and delete them.....
If its better...then it would be great if you can paste the Download link for it

Point UI is a memory hog. it uses up huge memory. Try removing it, it should improve your system's memory usage dramatically. BTW usage of 22 mb is pretty ok.

Get yourself a task manager and kill all unnecessary processes, but I don't really know what would you use that free RAM for

advanced task manager is the best ,but check this article out

Android system (2.2 and 2.3--> 2.1 is not too efficent in this) frees the memory itself, and caches things like Windows 7 (but in a far effective way). If you start a software that needs more RAM, then Android frees it for the app (or it tries to free it up: sometimes you have to run more than once a memory hog app to get it started), else it's precaches system things to fasten up the phone. So. If you have a lot of memory free, it's not always good.
Note that the problem starts if the CPU "can't rest". Then will come the less battery time, slowness, choppiness, etc. So: If there is an Application that has been loaded into memory, and runs in background and eating CPU cycles, then it's not good. In this case you have to close it manually. But not for the more RAM. You have to close it because Android itself MAYBE won't close it, because it recognizes as a running task (so it isn't an idle task) that is in use, and it keeps eating the CPU-->battery.
Hope this helps for the memory-geeks
