Hi, I've got a Cingular 8125 with the updated ROM from HTC.
I have a peculiar issue with my Messaging inbox: if I try to launch it by pressing the hardkey, most of the screen doesn't redraw. The titlebar changes to indicate the name of the current messaging account (Outlook, MMS, Text Messages, etc), and the softkey menus appear and are usable. The problem is that the list of messages and current folder aren't shown, only the last application I was using.
This problem began after the ROM update. One interesting thing that I noticed when reconfiguring my device after the update was that when I was inputting the settings for my gmail account, I tried to rename that account "Gmail", and got a message indicating that that account name was already in use. (Perhaps this is related to restoring an email backup from SPB Backup that contained my email information.)
Another odd aspect of this problem is that if I launch messaging from the touchscreen, the message list appears as normal.
A few other people seem to be experiencing this problem as well, but without any apparent solutions (other than the dreaded hard reset):

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
afaik, there is no resolution to this issue other than what you've already seen and done..

I set up one of my email accounts on the MDA which worked fine, then started playing with RegistryWizard (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39725). I made several tweaks, but I think this is what may have caused the problem:
6. Use different email address in MSN
Registry: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Pocket MSN
Key: AutoDomain (string)
Value: @hotmail.com (default)
Delete key to use any email address
After I checked this option and rebooted, I deleted the email account in “Messaging”. That is a rather strange sequence of actions, and I messed up something in the process, as after this I started receiving strange messages in my “Text Messages” account (which I cannot delete). The messages are always from “701” (whatever that means). The “To” field shows my phone number, and the body of the message shows the email address of the account that I deleted. The messages do not come to the email account because I deleted it, but they somehow still show up as txt messages.
I looked in the “Messaging” options – the account is not mentioned anywhere anymore, but the messages still come in. Even hard reset did not correct this. When I look in the registry after hard reset, the “@hotmail.com” value is back there (if it was ever gone, I never checked).
I tried searching for the deleted email address with Total Commander, and it does not find anything. Although I am not sure I am doing the search correctly. I search for “myrealbox” or “s-eugene” (which are both parts of my email address), but the Total Commander does not let me put anything into “Containing text:” field, so I may be missing some values in the registry.
I wonder where the device still keeps that email address. I have a backup of my data from before I ever started playing with the registry, but I wanted to avoid restoring it if possible because my current version of appointments and contacts is newer than the backup. Plus, if hard reset did not take care of the problem, will restoring the backup do that?
Hope somebody has some further ideas on how to delete the email account completely. Thank you.
I'm the last person that would probably be able to help, but because you metion text messages, I wonder if you have inadvertantly changed something for msn messenger? It has an option to receive messages as sms in one of the options screens.
Well, there is a checkbox under "MSN Options - SMS" called "If my data connection is temporarily unavailable, use SMS to keep my messages and contacts up-to-date." I do not entirely understand what it means, frankly, but the box is unchecked, anyway.
I guess my pointed question is: what could have screwed up my settings so much that even hard reset does not help eliminate this email account? Yes, I fooled around with registry, but I thought hard reset returns the registry to the original state?
I did not burn a new ROM on it. There is a miniSD card in the device, and there is some information left on it from before the hard reset, but I can't imagine that that can affect things this way.
Any ideas, anyone?
All of a sudden none of my appointments appear in the HTC Calendar (inc. the Home page).
If I choose a day in the Calendar app I see one of them for a fraction of a second, then it disappears.
I see them all in the WM Calendar app and even on the S2U2 screen, but not via the HTC TouchFLo apps.
Running WM 6.2 Sense 2.1 on TD2.
Any ideas ??????
Issue resolved - related to problems with language support.
Can you help me, I have the same problem on a Rhodium.

His issue was with language support, since you're in DC I suspect your issue is different.
You can sync calendars with MS My Phone, Google Exchange Server, or MS Exchange Server
I gave up since this thread was the only place I read the same exact problem. I decided to just use the ms calendar instead of htc calendar since it was not a sync issue. If htc updates the calendar app I will try it then maybe it will fix it for me. the sleek look of htc calendar is the only thing better anyway.
Have you tried to sync using Google as an exchange server? Its working for me.
that is what im doing. the sync is not the problem as they appear for a second, they just visually disappear in htc calendar a second or less later. but the events are still in google on pc and if i open builtin calendar on tilt 2 then the events are still there as well. so i am sure it is not an ms exchange or activesync issue
I assume you've tweaked the "keep item on device" setting.
I would delete and reestablish your server. I have seen contact photos be slow to load or disappear but never any issues with calendars.
It could be an issue with your ROM retaining data and you may have to hard reset.

Just tried "keep item on device" setting, and same as before.
I don't think the ROM problem not retain the data since if I use standard ms calendar feature the events are still there. The ROM is getting the data from ms exchange and keeping the data but not viewable more than split second in HTC Calendar.
I just deleted the activsync server and re-setup but still same.
Resolution
I was getting the same results - OK in regular calendar app but only very briefly, if at all, on theTouchFlo screen.
As I wrote above that the problem was due to language issues.
I assume that what was happening was that there were some characters or content which was problematic and causing problems in some cases (TochFlo display). I have the feeling that even one problematic entry caused the others not to be displayed.
If you are experiencing the problem I would look at the content of the entries (or selectively delete them etc). to find out what is happening.

I found the problem but no solution to get what i want
i have the taskbar to show date and time so I change some reg entries one which tell the taskbar to show MMM dd screws up HTC Calendar. i assume HTC Calendar pulls the date info from the same place as the taskbar so it gets confused. So I can pick date and time in taskbar or HTC Calendar. I want date and time in taskbar mm/dd/yyyy then it works since that is the default but the year doesn't really fit even with extra spaces so I guess I'll have to choose one.
Problem Key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls\overrides]
"SSDte"="dd MMM "
What happens if you change the date format in your regional settings?
Does it change both WM and TF3D to match?
Strange! Glad you found the culprit.
yes iv been playing with this. The best solution so far is to use "dd MMM yy" in the taskbar. Then select this in the regional settings. Now HTC Calendar works...but this is only 99% success for me since I didnt want to wast 3 character spots in the taskbar for the _yy
I always know the year so it is waster space but I think I will have to live with that.
My email stopped working right about 2 weeks ago. It MAY be related to the new TMOUS ROM I loaded, but not sure. I can reply to email without issue, but I can't auto-address an email, nor can I send an email that isn't a reply. In auto-addressing, usually I start typing an address and options show up, not anymore. In sending, I type in an email address (not a name) and hit send. The soft button flashes, but nothing changes on the screen. I tried searching on email issues, re setup all my email information without using Manilla (native windows setup), and tried soft-resets galore. No go.
One complication in the past has been I have a large contact database (12k names) and so autocomplete often took some time (30 secs or so) to bring up options. Now however, I can leave it plugged in over nite and no suggestions.
Any thoughts anyone?
OK tried a bunch of stuff, finally gave up and re-installed the 2.13 ROM update. Without re-installing all my stuff, I tried it again. Same problem. However, I had already sync'd my contacts, so don't know if the database size is the problem. Used to work fine in the previous ROM (2.10).
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Bump? Anyone else having trouble with email?
I found a portion of the issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544453
While the autocomplete suggestions are coming up now, the email still doesn't send. An additional issue is that I can't save the email to drafts either.
Another symptom, periodically I will click on an email, and only a blank screen comes up.
Did the hard reset again, and rebuilt one app at a time. Nothing caused the email problem. Seems to be related to my contact database. I'm either going to have to shrink that, or find out if something in the database is corrupted...
So I restored my database a little at a time (by unplugging the cable during sync. ) It was working fine until I put the last ones in. Then all three symptoms occured simultaneously (no address drop down, no send, and blank emails on view). I suspect at this point a corrupted record in the database, but it might still be size based. I found a couple of chinese characters in the database, which might be the problem. Deleted an restored that record, but doesn't fix it. May have to hard reset again...
Does anyone know a way to clean up and verify the integrity of an outlook database?
PIM database too big?
The problem does seem to be with the size of the database. I found that by removing one category of contacts (~4000), behavior reverted to normal. Restoring and then removing another category (~4500) did the same thing, so it does not appear to be a corrupted database.
While this works, it would be nice to have all my contacts back in. Does anyone have an idea on the limitations of the contact database size?
Hi all,
A bit of a strange one, this.
Outlook seems to open on top of whatever program I usee at seemingly random times (not related to any of the 3 pop accounts polling)
I have tried uninstalling Email Scheduler (have had it since day one, but the problem only started yesterday, but thought I'd check) and no change.
I've also disabled/moved the polling to be doubly sure, but no change either.
I've tried removing the lnk in the start up folder as it opens on boot, but no change again.
Any ideas?
Found the issue. I reticked "show account picker when starting messaging".
I post this up in case it helps anyone else.
My phone had been working fine, and then following an exchange sync, everytime I went to the Manila email preview tab, no envelope showed up, and after a few seconds Manila would restart.
A soft reset did not help.
All the advice I could find directed me towards the manila xml files BUT I believe this was actually the result of something else.
When I went in to my email via the windows email option on the start menu, I could see a surprising email with no subject or sender. This was not present on outlook in my work PC in front of me.
This email appeared to be spam with just images attached (but I did not open them). Deleting this on my phone immediately resolved the issue with Manila.
I suspect it was some kind of a partial image of an email stopped by the exchange server as suspicious.
I think I have seen this before on mine as well although I might not have noticed the problem with manila before just deleting the email.
Just in case this stops someone rooting through their kitchen for the fault when that may be unneccessary.
UPDATE:
This issue still happens now and then.
My latest theory is that it seems to be linked to images in the emails.
The latest one I have with no sender no subject actually has the contents from an earlier email (picked up at the most recent sync) which had images in it as well as words. There seems to be no server side issue so I presume it is an issue with outlook on the phone.
