Remove Contact/Calendar Bar - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Does anyone know how to remove the Contacts/Calendar bar at the botton of the Today screen? Can this be customized an how? thanks

It can be change thru registry. If you want to go the easy, tweak2k.net

If I remove the calnedar/contacts bar from the today screen, will the buttons still function as shortcuts to calendar and contacts or do I remove the functionality as well?

You can change them in the registry.
VJToggleToday II alpha will let you shrink them down to nearly nothing, and they will still function. This makes your today screen bigger, like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
V

How do I change this in the registry?

The left-hand softkey settings are at 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112',
the right-hand softkey settings are at 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113'
V

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly am I doing to these values?

Greenemk,
Change the application launched by Today screen Soft Keys
To change the application launched by the Today screen Left soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "\Windows\Calendar.exe" (REG_SZ string, including quotes)
To change the title of the Left soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\(Default) = "Calendar" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
To change the application launched by the Today screen Right soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113\Open = "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Contacts.lnk" (REG_SZ string, including quotes)
To change the title of the Right soft key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113\(Default) = "Contacts" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
Note that 113 normally doesn't exist by default, and probably needs to be created
Also note that there is at least 1 application that allows you to set these through a GUI, developed by FdcSoft called SoftKeyAppletEx
This info was in the Wiki. There are alot of other greath "hacks" check there... http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other

Hi,
Does anyone know if I can change the "Contacts" left softkey under the dialpad window?
I suppose I can't change the right one since it's "Options" and is probably "Hard coded" into the dialer application, but is the left one as well?
(I know about softkey editing in the today screen, the one with 112 / 113 in the registry)
Anyone?

What os are you using? I have PDACorner V16 at the moment and it has a Softkey selection program. Settings>Personel>soft Keys. Select the .exe you want the softkey to rn but remember to rename the button. I've noticed this app in a lot of cooked roms recently...
Cheers...

Program Tab

Does anybody know how to change from 3 to 4 the number of the program tab columns?
Thanks.Max
yes i would like to know to,
is this possible?
If you think on Programs menu, answer is like this...
With a Registry Editor to create a new key under:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\
The words as: "IconConfig"
Among them, create the following DWORD value:
"HorizontalIconSpacing" Dec value = "112"
"VerticalIconSpacing" Dec value = "115"
"IconTitleFontSize" Dec value = "6"

First response searching "4 icons in a row"
The search is there for people to use it, so do it!!
Download any registry editor, like total commander or any other.
Add Registry Entrys:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\
Add New Key "IconConfig"
In there Add DWORD Value:
"HorizontalIconSpacing" Dec value="112"
"VerticalIconSpacing" Dec value="115"
"IconTitleFontSize" Dec value="6"
Search for scorpio16v 4icons_in_row, it does the trick.

changing quicklink text?

is it possible to change the text for the quicklinks on the home tab? this is what my home screen currently looks like:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
i'd like to change some of the text, i.e. "opera browser" to "opera", so it doesn't take up two lines. does anyone know if that's possible? thanks!
simple...
first the concept. when setting a quick link, the list of programs presented to you is extracted from the start menu. once you choose a program from the list, the quick link is created using the target, icon, AND caption of the corresponding start menu item.
so simply make a copy of the link in the start menu and name it how you like and keep it in the start menu folder. then remove the quick link you don't like. now when you will try to re-add it, you will see your copy appear in the list of programs exactly how you named it. select it and re-add it and viola!
or grab a registry editor, browse to
HKLM/software/htc/manila/home
find a lot of numbered folders, one for each quicklink, find yours (it starts at 0, so if its quicklink 3 it will be in folder 2)
In there change DispName to whatever you want it to say

'sym' + 'a' = 'á' - accented letters with the hardware keyboard

Some languages have many accented letters, for e.g. Hungarian has nine: áéíóöőúüű. My question was: can I get all these by pressing a combination on the physical keyboard, for e.g. 'sym' + 'a' = 'á'?
With a week's research, I found the solution, that works for all the languages using unicode characters. Steps:
1. Update the Blackberry keyboard app on your PRIV to its latest version in Play Store here
2. Go to Settings -> Language & Input -> Blackberry Keyboard Settings -> Advanced -> Symbol Layout Customization
3. Under 'Physical Keyboard', both switches should be ON, then click 'Customise layout'
4. Click on the 'ACCENTS' tab and drag the accented vowel to its corresponding non-accented vowel's slot at the bottom of the screen. From now on, 'sym' + 'a' = 'á' (or 'ӓ' etc).
5. If you cannot find the accented letter you are looking for, then instead of the 'ACCENTS' tab, choose the 'CUSTOM' tab. Click the '+' sign -> 'Add Unicode Symbol'
6. Letter 'ő' for e.g. is U + 0151, letter 'ű' is U + 0171, etc.
7. All unicode characters can be entered, list of codes are here. Once you have added the code, the letter will appear in the window above and you can drag it to any slot just like at the 'ACCENTS' tab.
That's it. After remapping my keyboard, my SYM button + vowel combinations look like this:
{
