is it possible to change the text for the quicklinks on the home tab? this is what my home screen currently looks like:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
i'd like to change some of the text, i.e. "opera browser" to "opera", so it doesn't take up two lines. does anyone know if that's possible? thanks!
simple...
first the concept. when setting a quick link, the list of programs presented to you is extracted from the start menu. once you choose a program from the list, the quick link is created using the target, icon, AND caption of the corresponding start menu item.
so simply make a copy of the link in the start menu and name it how you like and keep it in the start menu folder. then remove the quick link you don't like. now when you will try to re-add it, you will see your copy appear in the list of programs exactly how you named it. select it and re-add it and viola!
or grab a registry editor, browse to
HKLM/software/htc/manila/home
find a lot of numbered folders, one for each quicklink, find yours (it starts at 0, so if its quicklink 3 it will be in folder 2)
In there change DispName to whatever you want it to say

Attached is Rar archive unzip it and transfer the two files to your device into any new folder then creat a shortcut to it into /windows/startup
The functions will be activated on long presses
Enjoy

I think youre just ripping Waters piece of work here:

I am using smartskey and am very happy. Only using the remapping of softkeys left (hold=start menu) & right (hold=OK).
I also set the option to close all apps on pressing right softkey except ie calendar, phone, contacts
Have to get the latest function still . . . .
Finally the program around the world in eighty days, rezip and rerar several times, rip off the author's notes and return to where it borns... luckily the filename is the still the same.

Hey Water. You should write a program like this!
Great work btw!

Tell the author to add a function to reset the overclock speed with OMAPclock after a standby. That would be cool.
You know what would also be cool? If the app could change D-Pad behaviour so we can use it like we did in WM2003 SE. :lol: But I don't see that happening. :lol:
SPB mobile shell, is there any way to keep to windows title bar visible while running mobile shell.
Reason is volume control is there so, it is difficult to change volume with out minimizing app also I want to toggle between apps and I can not use "X" button functionality from SPB. Is there any easier way to toggle?
Any help would be appreciated.
hah, I've never seen a bot actually reply to a post
as for your question, I am wondering the same thing
For the volume, use the "SetVolume0.4b1.cab" file found on this forum. You can set a shortcut into your tools folder and it works brilliantly. Not sure about x button problem..
Cheers...
Something like this..?
This is do to Gagaza's modification.. and began to think on adding a start button, I ended up with this.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
1) Start in (SPB) settings, select customize menu, highlight tools.
2) Now to begin select menu on bottom right, then add-> menu..
3) Choose the icon you desire and name it.
4) Then once done open tools (still in customize menu) go to the menu/icon you've created..
5) Highlight then select menu at bottom right and click on add->file. Now you can select any files you want. (I've chosen File Explorer, Skyfire, Dashwire and Sprite Backup)
6) Once all this is done then you go to MRU 2nd app (left to right 1st row) and Manage Pin to your created menu/icon.
7) Then load the modification gagaza has created and your good to go! (You can do this first also)
Enjoy..!
Let the creativity and fellowship continue...
Once again creating my theme has credits to GB,AZ,BI,GZ and other's.
This is a freeware that I found by Hou Ming that addresses all the missing features that should have been included in the Windows Mobile stock File Explorer.

Some of the new fatures :
*Resizable header for easy sorting by file name, date of last modification or size
*Tree view of folders; you can now jump easily from a location to any other on your device in one step
*Show extension option for those who ask themselves the same question I do: “What type of file is this?
*Icon view that enables the display of files as icons similar to your desktop computer
*Real time image preview; now you don’t have to open several files in order to send the one you desire
*Open with Program allows you easily select an application to open the specific file you select (useful in case you don’t have the correct file associations or when you want Album app to open your images instead of Windows default picture viewer.
*File property context menu for easy renaming and attribute changing
*Open all executables with Parameters in case you need a special parameter when launching an application
*Sending shortcut to Programs for instant shortcut creation of executables placed directly in Programs folder in Start Menu.

Hi! Ok, I don't like the new 6.5 Start menu, so I went into file explorer and changed the shortcuts that appear and put them in folders like so:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and then when I click a folder like "Social Networking" the follow appears:
which is perfect. However, I've noticed all my folders on the first shot are pretty bland. However I noitced that "Games" and "Office" have their own icons. I then went into File Explorer and noticed that those two folders have icons in them:
so I went into those directories and sure enough, there's an icon.ink file with the picture on it.
However if you look at the first picture, the icons aren't the same (they're much nicer!)... anyone knows a) where these icons can be found on the device? b) how each "games" and "office" folders know to use those icons?
Thanks if anyone can help!
reSTART
Hi salemfox
I can't answer all of your questions reSTART would be worth looking at. It's in this thread by showaco and the installer is attached to the first post:

That looks perfect! Thanks for that!
reSTART works perfectly, thanks alot andrew-in-woking!
Update: icons from this website work great! Just got to put the .png file in the Icons folder of the reSTART installation, select within reSTART, exit and soft-reset!
http://www.vistaicons.com/
could also look here for the icons. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start
I recently picked up a Nexus 7 to replace my Nook Color. I love everything about it but have gotten stuck in once aspect. I can't add any media files to my home screen.
With my Nook I used this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872295
It let me add books directly to my home screen. I could click on them and it would open my book for me. But now I can't get it to work. I have version 4.2.463 and I don't know how to change the MIME Type and SubType settings in this version. I can view it by long pressing and then clicking on Properties.
When I try to create the shortcut with Desktop Visualizer I got to Launch -> Select Action -> Other -> Astro File Manager -> [Navigate to file]
The Launch field stays blank and then when I press Ok, it says "Failed to create shortcut or Widget" I get this error with every file extension type.
I'd like to be able to do this again, but not with just books. I'd like to do it with Videos also. Right now I can only navigate to folders and not directly to the files. Ideally I'd like to have it setup the way the following picture shows:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
When I touch the Spider-Man icon, it loads a folder where Spider-Man is stored. I then touch that file and it plays in Double-Twist. I'd like to cut out the middle step and launch the video in double twist from my home screen.
I can create a shortcut but the icon stays the same size as a typical icon. I'd like the big FanArt style icon like in my picture.
Can anyone suggest a fix or an alternate approach to make this happen for me?
