After I had to re-format (start from scratch) with my cell phone, I noticed that my Volume Control no longer automatically calls up the sound control. I have to click on the little speaker and then i can use the volume control.
I tried soft resetting the unit but still nothing.
I don't know of any way to disable/enable this.
Can someone help me with this?
Thanks
-Mike
Figured it out -
I'm using SmartSKey and had to set VOLKEY=0 in the .ini file
This is what happens when a phone has to be reformatted cause they took an unstable operating system and ported it into a device that shouldn't be running that OS. (Can you smell the anger!!)
Thanks

So, I'm experiencing what everybody else is with this ROM. That initial volume level starts out soft and gradually increases to the max that I have it set to. Some have stated they like this and that's fine. But, I HATE it  . I can never hear my phone ring anymore if it's in my pocket. Has anybody found a possible registry key or setting somewhere to turn this off?
And if any AT&T folks are listening.. I'd like a setting in the volume area to turn this off or on.
Phone Profile
Have you check under phone profiles... Ascending Ring change to Standard Ring
Dustoff
I don't have a phone profile, or i should say i don't see any where for that option. In the phone settings area the Ring Type is set for Ring. There is an option for "Increasing Ring" but that's even worse than it is already. I don't think this is what I'm looking for.
Since the WM2003 upgrade on my SX56, 've noticed issues with the speakerphone volume. I can barely hear it in fact. Any thoughts on this one?
Fiddled around with the volume setting, moved it up and down, and the now the volume issue seems resolved. Can't say for sure if that's what resolved it, but it's fine now.
I'm experiencing the same problem with the AT&T rom.. I'm going to take a look around in the registry later on... before I go installing any apps
Well I have taken a look @ the processes running and can't see anything obvious that would be doing the volume thing..
So I have had a poke about in the registry and have found a section with sound profiles and it has an attenuation property, I have tried adjusting this, and deleting it but still no good
Also there is an entry in the registry called Hack and mentioned Vol in the string... but it didn't make any difference when I deleted that either
If anyone thats a bit more acomplished than myself with the PPC Phone could take a look and find a solution to this, i'm sure many users would appreciated it
Has anyone figured out how to make the volume level constant yet?
Any solutions to get the volume working well on A.30.09 ENG yet?
Nope. I just put my phone volume on next to the top setting and the system volume two levels below it. Works fine then. As long as the system volume is two levels below it will not graduate the sound.

Hi chaps,
I have a SPV M500 but for some reason it is very quiet when on the phone. In a busy street I can barely hear what the other person is saying. I have put the volume on maximum but still very quiet. Is there anyway I can make it louder?
Also, I can't figure out why the 4 buttons surrounding the cursor button locks from time to time preventing me making calls for no apparent reason but I can still use the cursor and the touch screen. This usually occurs after I've synchronised my phone or I have left it for a while.
Any ideas?
Cheers
you might want to post this in the Magician forum since that is what the m500 is. (its a bit more busy in there)
volume slider
Just slide this button up during a call. You should here the volume going up
edit/don't know why image doesn't show, but click it and it does
Thanks I know about the slider, it is on maximum but it is still very quiet... I have no idea why.
Sorry moderators, can you please move this to the Magician section please!
thanks saldous.
always best to try the simple things first. What's it like on speakephone (hold down the (green)answer key).
Was it loud before? Tired a soft reset

Speaker phone works fine. Thanks I didn't know it is activated by holding down the green button!
I've only had the phone for a week, its always been like this but just wondered if anyone knew how I could tweak it to make it slightly louder.
Would a soft reset wipe the memory etc?
soft reset doesn't wipe the memory; it's like rebooting windows.
Hard reset will wipe all memory, like formatting your harddrive (although windows is still there, but "reset" to factory settings)
Are you turning up both sliders on the volume control. There's one for windows and one for the phone.
There aren't really any tweaks to increase sound volume, but it's not very loud to begin with.

earpiece problem
also im using orange spv M500....it has that fault mate...the problem is with the speaker...thats too week so itz hardware issue cant help..
But still u can do some registry tricks...
install resco explorer to do it...

find...-HK curr user-controlpanel-sound categeries-Incall-init volume set to 15
Hi All,
I am losing the sound on my mini s. So far i have identified it occurs when i do either of the following...
1) Install the custom dialer from this topic -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=35326
2) Using the registry tweak program from this topic -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39725 <- I am able to use most of the options like disabling the notification, enable bluetooth. But sometimes a change knocks out the sound. Ive not yet identified which specific one because each time it happens i have to hard reset the device (unless someone can suggest a better solution?)
More details on the sound problem after doing either of the above...
When i move the volume slider after every soft reset, the phone volume (left side) defaults to off. But the voice volume (right side) is Ok.
If i move the phone sound level up i dont hear it increase in sound. If i leave up anywhere other than off it just goes back to off again.
Can anyone help?
Ta,
D.
Is there by any change an already excisting application that could predifine volume settings when the headset is connect/disconnected. Or even better, a code monkey who is willing to give this idea a go and create it from scratch.
My Diamond Volume is set to max when the headset is unplugged.
But when I Connect it, I've to readjust both Ring Volume & System volume, for its simply to loud and painfull to the ears.
Its not that I'm lazy and not willing to adjust the volume manually, its then when I happen to forget it (and that happens quite often) The Volume of an incomming call can be quite painfull to the ears let alone give me a hart attack. Not the kind of thing I like to see happen while I'm driving my car.
I've searched and ran in to alot of dead ends, so if any one have some suggestions to offer I'm all "Ears"
I guess MortScript can be used here, but you would need to start it manually anyway. I dunno if MortScript allow to write scripts whcih would hang in the memory, probably some loops and it can be set to check required parametrs all the time. However it's not the direct solution. It needs to be a programm, rather simple: it hanging in the memory and checks if headset is plugged in (or if it can't be doen directly then checking specific registry value). When headset in programm change sound values. Too bad I'm not a programmer
Well, I tried to use mortscript for it
(see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3303572&postcount=1235) , but I didn't check my script, I just tried to change registry entries and see if it affects volume. Unfortunatly it's not (and I just recently read somewhere that sound changes doesn't work this way). Just changing registry values doesn't help, somehow it works directly when you puch buttons. I dunno if it;s possible to emulate this buttons in a script.
I'd realyl like to see solution myself, I just noticed that I was always changing volume for music but not for phone. My luck none called me while I was listen to music .

I recall seeing such a feature with phonealarm (commercial thought)....
Hey everyone this is my first post so i apologise if this problem has been discussed at length already.
Ok so my current problem is that my htc hd2 wont make any sound whatsoever when using the rear speaker (so thats any ringing from incoming calls, notifications, videos, music etc..). I have played with the sound settings relentlessly but can't seem to change its current state and I have also done several hard resets. However, when accepting a phone call or when a pair of headphones are inserted into the handset the sound goes through fine, leading me to suspect that it is the rear speaker which is the problem (My speakerphone after accepting a call also doesnt work).
On two occasions I have been playing music on it in hopes for a sign of life and have had sound on very sharp bursts (no more then 2 seconds). In terms of any programs or updates that I have installed on to my handset I havent done anything but apply the updates from the HTC support website.
The problem ocurred on day 2 of using this handset and I have also sent an email to mobiles.co.uk to ask about a replacement handset. However I was having a lot of fun with this phone and wanted to keep it if it could be solved myself so if anybody has any ideas it would be very much appreciated!
Thanks
Try a hard reset. If the problem persists after that, it's certainly hardware related.
Same thing happened to my HD2 today, all sounds just stopped working for some reason, music player ring tone, notifications, everything, did a hard reset and everything works again, it is a bit worrying when it just happened out of the blue like that.

Did you accidentally turn the volume down using the button on the side of the device? Stupidly, system volume can be adjusted using this button.

Yes it can. It either changes both system and ringtone together (if you only use 1), or you have a tab for both (if you use both volumes), as per the sound and display settings in the settings tab.
No, that was the first thing that I checked, I have the single volume unchecked as well.

I find the single volume the better option, less chance of this kind of thing happening. Other than that, it sounds like you have either installed a tweak or combination of tweaks which are not compatible or you have a hardware fault.
