Hi every one.
So i set "button lock" and also disable mainly all notifications but every time a new sms arrives, the screen goes on.I will like to keep the screen off because if you carry your magician in your pocket and after that sms arrives, you can accidentaly press any button or even touch the screen.
I been checking every thing i could check but i can´t find the answer about this problem.
Thanks in advance.
Third party software Pocket Zen Phone or phoneAlarm.
Ok i´ll check it and see what i can do.
Cheers mate.

There are many occasions the Magician turns on its screen. Rather than trying to find and disable all these, I copied TPDisable.exe and TPEnable.exe from the original Extended ROM into my Program Files folder, and then assigned them to a hardware key (using Hotbutton, so that I can use the same key for both).
As the name implies, TPDisable disables the touchscreen (not the display!), and TPEnable re-enables it. So, before I put my Magician into my pocket, I now disable the touchscreen (one press of a button). That still leaves the keys active, true, but I found that normally the touchscreen is much more likely to be the culprit when strange things happen on your Magician while it's in the pocket, and turned itself on.
Cheers

@ tadzio
Well,that is a very interesting solution,but i can´t find TPDisable.exe
or TPEnable.exe inside my magician.I need a bit more info from you
Daniel.
Thanks a lot for your replies.
What happens if you hold down power button for 2 seconds to switch off backlight? Does the light still illuminate on receipt of sms?
@ cruisin-thru
I can´t see the point of your question, mainly because the thing i am looking for is to "switch off" my Qtek like a normal mobile phone,i mince buttons locks and screen off when a new sms or incoming call arrives and when you push power button for example, then screen go on and also release the lock of the buttons.
Any one can say that then i can use deltalock.I did it but the battery live is going down very quick.
Screenlock is not working properly also,i will say that Deltalock is 95% a lot better than Screenlock.
And finally, why microsoft is developing this OS without fully screen off selectable option???. Who knows!!!
Cheers

Both programs are in the Extended ROM. Most users have made this visible (though not writable) by performing a Hard Reset, and immediately after completing the initial screen adjustment and mini-tutorial and before the device starts installing programs, a Soft Reset.
If you do not want to do a Hard Reset, search this site's FTP server for Magician Extended ROM downloads. There were a few there last time I looked.

Well, after config hotbutton to TPDisable and TPEnable i can´t enable the screen and hardware buttons.
TPDisable is disablind the screen but also all the hardware buttons ( with and without button lock at settins),even the power button.
I use same hardware button for TPDisable and TPEnable ,is that correct or i am doing silly things?
If I arrive an sms the screen is switching on and after a few seconds switching off again if I don't press any key or tap the screen!
It's a changeable registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / CurrentControlSet / Control / Power /
WakeupPowerOff =12 (the default is 180)
DisableGwesPowerOff=0 (the default is 1)
If you switch on the Jam (power button) need to press some other key too, because it switches off after 12 seconds!!!
by Avers
@avers
Well that is another solution but i insist that there should be an easiest way to keep the screen fully off when a new sms or what ever arrives, including hardware buttons off ofcourse.
Any suggestion more?, perhaps at the end and betwen all of us ,we can find the solution.
Cheers.
I think the best solution is third party software like PHONEALARM,
it's easiest way to get main tweaks of Pocket Windows.
get it there
http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.htm
Well my friends, pocketzenphone is not doing what i am looking for.
Next step is to try phonealarm, but probably will work the same way as pocketzenphone, leting the screen to go on every time a new sms arrives.
Sorry for my languaje but F... microsoft and F... devil gates.
As you can read on this post ,phonealarm IS NOT doing it.
http://www.pocketmax.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=429
phonealarm has option named "Don't activate backlight on alarm"
ALARM there means any event, that needs notification.
now i am understanding, that it is some differ that you need.
also i advice you make some registry tweaks to make a very short backlite time when sms arrives.:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\WakeupPowerOff = 10
this timeout in seconds. is used when our device self power on, when SMS arrives or we push the POWER button and do nothing anymore
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\DisableGwesPowerOff = 0
this key is enables this power control system (necessarily change it, or first key will not work)
after the editing registry you need to reboot PDA.
sorry for poor english, i translate text from russian.
if you want to use online translator i can give you original URL

Thank you for your reply i will try like you and others point out and also will keep looking for that utopic soft.
deltaLock locks the screen and buttons even if you get sms or calls. I use it on my JAM and it works so far.

If you read one of my post ,you will see that i allready said that Deltalock is working but it is KILLING the battery live very fast and when i say VERY FAST it mince that you will get almost 6hours against the normal live (more than 15hours).
Cheers mate.
I think if you keep your ppc on all the time you will get this battery life. Anyway I think deltaLock is for keeping your PPC on and having screen and button lock, not having it in suspend mode and not allowing the screen to power up. Sorry about that, seem to have misunderstood your post.
Don´t worry mate, at the end we are all together trying to find a solution to this microsoft silly programing, any comment and any new idea is wellcome.
Cheers.
Nope, I don't have any great advice, just questions.
Goodlink replaces the standard WM5 password screen with its own (and it was pushed to my 8525 by security policy). The GoodLink password screen has a big problem: it does not have the on-screen keypad, so I have to open the keyboard every time. And given the maximum 30-min time-out, that's really annoying.
I wanted to return the original WM5 password screen. I found the following key: HKLM\Comm\Security\LASSD\LAP\lap_pw with two values: DLL and GLOrigDLL. DLL is a string value "\Windows\password.cpl", the GLOrigDLL is a string value "lap_pw.dll". I hoped that changing the DLL value to "lap_pw.dll" would do the trick, but it didn't, even after a soft reset. No change whatsoever, no errors, still getting the GoodLink password screen.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Check if you have a redirect at:

No, the value is not there (there are only three values there now: Group, HintCounter, TimeOut)
Almost what you want...
In the key HKLM\Comm\Security\LASSD\LAP you will find the value
"ActiveLap"="GoodLap"
or something like "Good..." - I can't remember. Corresponding to this is the key
HKLM\Comm\Security\LASSD\LAP\GoodLap
which serves the same function for the GoodLink security authentication as does the key
HKLM\Comm\Security\LASSD\LAP\lap_pw
for the default MS security authentication. If you change the value of "ActiveLap" mentioned above to
"ActiveLap"="lap_pw"
you will find that it reverts to the MS authentication that was there before the GoodLink lap. BUT BE CAREFUL! I made the change as I described, and it did indeed revert to the MS authentication, but somehow when GoodLink installed their lap, the password data for the old MS lap_pw was changed, and I cannot get in to my phone now!!!! (It didn't change the "hint" information, but the "hint" information is rather useless if the password was changed but not the hint!!!) I think to avoid this, you need to create the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Policy\LASSD\AuthReset
and put in the value
"AuthenticationReset"(REG_DWORD) = 1
Unfortunately, I didn't see this until it was too late...
Anyone have any ideas for my problem????
Correction...
Well, I discovered that resetting the device also resets the lap settings. At least, it did the first time, but not the second time, so I almost recovered, and then really screwed it up. Also, the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Policy\LASSD\AuthReset
doesn't work as advertised... so you're probably thnking "better you than me"....
Thank You Mobile registry editor!
It turns out that one can still edit the registry using Mobile registry editor, so I am saved once again. But still don't know how to get lap_pw working. I think that GoodLink screws up the value
HKLM\Comm\Security\LASSD\LAP\lap_pw\Pin
by setting it to , thus making it impossible to login after switching to lap_pw. Just a guess. Can anyone confirm that this "value" is ordinarily signifigantly different from 0/1/2/3 etc., thus supporting the guess that it stores your Pin in an encrypted form? (Hence setting it to 1 makes lap_pw unuseable unless one can reset the lap_pw pin without knowing the old pin)
Also, it appears that ActiveSync resets the authentication policy back to the GoodLink LAP. Ouch.
I suspect that to get lap_pw to allow a pin reset, one needs to construct the appropriate "Authentication Event" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Security\LASSD\AE
Anyone know exactly what is required?

Actually, it now appears that this value is NOT the encrypted pin. It seems that if it is 1, then lap_pw requests a pin, and if it is anything else, lap_pw does not seem to provide authentication (at which point, GoodLap kicks in, and how that happens is anyone's guess...) In particular, I set the value HKLM\Comm\Security\LASSD\LAP\ActiveLap = "lap_pw", and then if value HKLM\Comm\Security\LASSD\LAP\lap_pw\Pin is 1, the standard lap_pw asks me for my 4 digit pin, but if it is anything other than one, the standard lap_pw does NOT as me for a pin, and instead I get the same dialog as when HKLM\Comm\Security\LASSD\LAP\ActiveLap = "GoodLap", even though HKLM\Comm\Security\LASSD\LAP\ActiveLap = "lap_pw"!
It works, and doesn't work
Well that fixed the Goodlink lock screen, but now that I have the good screen back, the screen has the pad on it asking for the password and by just pressing the IE shortcut button, away it goes without a password. That is no good, how does that get fixed?

lmao. That is hilarious. Nice tight security again from MS. Well, I will give it another try now that I know how to get past the "PIN" screen. Note that there is functionality to "change" your PIN code, but I can't recall if you first need the old PIN to change it. Did you find, when you got rid of the GOOD pass-protection dialog and returned to the MS PIN pass-protection dialog, that your old PIN had been changed and no longer worked?
Hello,
I will come back to this post.
I am running Goodlink 5.03.23_EN on my Kaiser with the follwing ROM RUU_Kaiser_VF_UK_3.08.161.0_radio_sign_25.74.40.02_1.64.08.21. My company has an ITpolicy which is using:
HCU\ControlPanel\Goodlink\Password\ITLocked=1
HCU\ControlPanel\Goodlink\Password\ITLockedTime=6
etc.
The GoodLink password screen has still a big problem: it does not have the on-screen keypad, so I have to open the keyboard every time. And given the maximum 30-min time-out, that's really annoying.
To be honest, the timeout is fine, but the keyboard login is a pain.
All of the above hacks were not successfull.
- I have tried to change the above seetings, but they were renewed after each sync.
- I have redirect HKLM\ControlPanel\Password\Redirect=\windows\password.cpl with no success
- ....
Any new ideas ?

Change default keyboard - solution ?
Hi,
cause nobody has a solution for this issue, I will try the following.
I have found the following link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363751) to change the default keyboard.
1. How can I create my own keyboard-layout - just only with numbers ?
Edit: works with http://pocketcm.com/keyboard2.php
2. Is there a way to set a pre-script ? Means, just before the screen is locked by Goodlink I will change the default keyboard to the new keyboard. After unlocking the screen, it should change again the keyboard.

This may be more of a question specific to WM 6.1 than the Treo Pro itself. I really enjoy using a program that acts as a client to control and listen to my police scanner called Win500. (Main reason for buying Treo Pro with WM). It's a program that uses a custon TCP port via either wifi or evdo. My problem/goal is... I want to turn off the backlight and keep this app running.
I have played with what I think are all my options. Telling the device to turn off backlight after 30 seconds only dims the backlight but it does stay on. I am looking for one of two fixes. Either to be able to keep this program running and passing the audio to the speaker after hitting the top 'off' button. Or somehow have the backlight completely shut off after 30 seconds. Ideally it would be the first option so I could lock the key pad/touchscreen and have the clock screensaver. Possible Registry hack? Could a I make shortcuts with options specific to this program? I see you can turn the backlight all the way off in the settings.. I am a new with WM. So don't know if any of this is possible?
You should search for a registry hack to keep WiFi turned on while the device is in standby. If I'm correct this setting is available in Diamond Tweak, and HD Tweak...
The description for this tweak is: "Keeps WLAN online/connected in standby mode."
The values on the HTC Diamond used are:
1.
Code:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\Default
2.
Code:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Resuming\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\Default
3.
Code:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Unattended\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\Default
I checked this on my Treo Pro. The values are the same.
So just download Diamond Tweak and apply the tweak on your TP.
Don't mess around with other tweaks! Mind that the application is not written for the TP. There are a lot of tweaks that should work since it's both WM6.1. But better safe than sorry Backup your device before applying any tweaks!
Okay thanks I will try that. I do want more than just to keep the wifi running. Also, will need to keep the program running and have it pass audio to the speaker. Plus I use the evdo data more than the wifi. But I will give it a shot.
Use this - works great. I have it set to my HOLD side button.
Here is the Readme for it.

Hello,
How to lock also the Hardwarebuttons with the Default Sliderlock.
I don't want to use a other Sreenlock Program.
I just like to lock the Buttons also when the Screen is loecked.
any Solutions?
Thanks
Are the buttons active at all? During screen lock, I guess only the endcall button is active, waking up your phone.
alex fung ,
you are wrong.
All hard ware buttons except vol buttons can walk the phone/ turn on the screen.
ah you are right. They wake up the screen, but the touch panel is still locked. Try TouchLockPro.
any simple solution please, touch lock pro is soo confusing...
and is there is some solution to lock phone on backlight off, i mean dim is activated not locking when the screen goes off
tnx in advance
Hope this helps
To lock the hardware buttons with the phone in lock mode try modifing the registry.( it is simple but do this at you own risk)
Install a free registry explorer like PHM RegitEdit im sure you will find here it on this site (regedit.Mrln_ARM.cab ) Donate if you like
When installed open and navigate to: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER",Then "ControlPanel",Then highlight "Keybd".
Change "DefaultKeyLock" value data to "1"
Aslo if you feel brave: HKEY_CURRENT_USER-ControlPanel-Backlight.
Change "AutoDeviceLockEnable" value data to "1"
This should activate the lock screen when the screen dims.
Good Luck
NB: You will need to soft reset for the settings to work!

...that part is not mworking on my HTC LEO withh updated offical ROM WWE.
I changed the registry , restarted and still the screen dims but noit locking ..after siome seconds screen goes off. my idea was to have screen locked on dim and stays like this for about 30-40 secs and then to go off.
any suggestion pls.
tnx in advance
HKCU->Control->Keyboard->DefaultKeyLock=1
and
HKCU->ControlPanel->Backlight->AutoDeviceLockEnable=1
is all i need.
It works like i would like to have it.
Thank you.
Touch lock pro is a realy nice program and i appreciate his work, but to me it has to many features.
I've been after this answer for a little while now, and was pleased to find this thread. But... when I looked at my registry settings they were already as you suggest, but all of the buttons along the bottom of the phone still wake it up. Is there another step that I don't know about? (I have tried soft-reset).
I'm running SPB Mobile Shell - perhaps that's getting in the way?
I'll keep looking for a solution and post here is I find anything.
Anyone else have any more ideas?
Thats a shame it wont work for you,It may be spb mobile shell, Rom related or an old locking program you had installed.
Shot in the dark but have you tried changing the values back, soft reseting and then changing them forward again and soft reseting?
registry not working on my HTC LEO too..
dang.. registry doesn't work on my Leo too..
any other way to solve this??
Try soft reseting.
only open your registry editor and make changes then ,wait for 2-3 minutes ( wont matter if your device goes off )
(If off wake device up)Then soft reset again.
otherwise use a different reg editor or flash another rom.
N.B or just use this, it is small and cool:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505032
any recommended reg editor??
I never have a problem with PHM but resco is good.
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/
Remember you will need to wait some time before windows stores the new settings properly. Soft reseting straight away probabley wont work.
hi all
i want to use garmin for 30 min or much but after 1 min my device lights goes off and then display off and lock what can i do for disable auto device lock and auto off after 1 min

weird, i don't have that problem.. try configuring your GMXT, go to settings --> display --> backlight override and check all boxes..
p/s: if u wanna enable auto rotate so that u could view the maps in widescreen mode, add these codes to your registry..
for hkcu\software\htc\htcsensor\gsensor\modulename, add registry value "Garmin Mobile XT" = "\Garmin\Que.exe"
for hkcu\software\htc\htcsensor\gsensor\WhiteList, add registry value "Garmin Mobile XT" = "QUE_SUBAPP_WND_CLASS"
Garmin in landscape
Hi, thanks for the tip!
I always wanted to see GMXT in landscape, but didn't know how to do it.
I have copy/pasted values to the suggested locations, but nothing happened.
The registry values I have created are string values. Should I try with e.g. dword, or something else?

i want registry address for time of suspend mode for device to lock and change it to example 20 min

Maybe you should check only the first one that says "always on".

I'm having the same problem. Garmin worked perfectly for the last 2 months up until last week. now it locks automatically (but you still have to press the unlock button to be able to slide across the tab) and it loses satellite reception for a second. To avoid it I have to, say zoom in or out on the map, every 50 seconds otherwise it locks after it reaches a minute.
Has anyone found a solution or is it just a case of reinstalling it?
Sorry to revive this thread but I also have this problem. "Backlight Override" is checked but still have the lock come on after a minute or so. Really annoying. I also try reinstalling but no help.
Could this have something to do with CHT editor's lockscreen? or BSB tweak's setting? Just a thought. I have been using Android mostly so haven't got time to test out all the setting to see if it will make any difference.
as a work around, can you just change your backlight settings when you need to use garmin?
