How to set up more easily make calling card calls? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I don't seem to be able to find a way to more easily make calling card calls. In other cell phones, you can set it up such that both calling card entries and phone numbers are within the phone to dial. I don't see how to do it on the Wizard.
Can someone shed some light?
Thanksk,

Setup calling cards
Hi,
You can program your calling card no, pin as follows:
phonenumber#,calling card#,pin#
Put the comma "," between the numbers which makes the phone pause for about 2-3 seconds before dialing the next sequence of numbers.

I travel between places. When I am in different countries, I use different calling cards that is local to that country so I prefer not to embed calling cards in all the contacts' phone numbers.
I've used Sony Ericsson and Motorola cell phones. Both of them allow me to program a separate calling card number and use some special mechanism to string the contact's number with the calling card number. This is the biggest missing part on Wizard, I think.
Thanks,
CJ

DTMF tone sending

I am sure you used to be able to do it on the universal but now it seems I cant !!! does anyone know how !!!
I doubt you can send them, but you can enable tones in the phone control panel (I think it's there, but somewhere near there).
That just makes the phone keypad beep lyrical.
V
my old nokias can do it and so can my GF's samsung D500 !! a very useful option when using 3rd party dialers, I dont understand why this phone cant do it !!!
I always use this feature to send over the calling card PIN number and the destination number so even though I make an international call using phone card I do not need to puch the PIN etc manually. Just record the number into the contacts and use some delays. It works.

I know what you mean but that means I need to change all the international numbers stored in my phone, it would be easier if I could just call the number and then choose the number out of my contacts and send tones !!!
i have the same issue. i use an international caller to dial out to america and on my nokia i would just send the tones of the numbers i wanted to dial. now i have to write them down so i can punch them back into the xda. shame
Assuming I understand your problem correctly, it sounds like the problem is with your calling card provider and not your phone. The Universal, like any other phone, ought to send DTMF tones through in-band audio -- pretty standard stuff. I've tested this with my calling card provider and I'm able to put in my PIN code through DTMF without any problem.
I think that what these guys are describing is the ability, whilst on a call, to say "Send DTMF" and then choose a number from your contacts. This way, you can store your calling card number in one phonebook entry and all your other contacts as normal, then you choose the calling card to dial and then "send" the number for the other contact. However, you usually need to append a "#" with these services and the number needs the international prefix (so USA becomes "001" instead of "+1"). I generally just store two numbers against each name - one normal and one with integrated calling card.
I don't think anyone is saying that they can't manually key in the number mid-call.
That's exactly right, Melty.

Calling Card dialing

Has anyone found a utility or a way to automatically dial numbers using a calling card? This is a rather convenient feature in my previous (non-WM5) cell phone that allowed me to import my corporate phone numbers and then use automatic calling card to dial them without editing hundreds of entries in the phone book.
I have noticed the "Callingcard" code sample at MSDN, however, there does not seem to be a compiled binary available anywhere and I do not have the development environment available.
Any help or tips appreciated.
Ihave been using this one
It is one of the importat things for me
so I use Program called "Long Distance Dialer (Pocket PC Phone) 1.3"
it works on WM2003, WM2003SE and I am runing it right now on WM2005

good luck

Thanks! I did not realize it even runs on WM5. However, it does not see to go past dialing the access number - goes to reorder / busy tone right after. Is there a trick / fix to it?
I am using it on HTC Wizard
I never had that kind of problem
I don't know how to help you
This is my settings
Name: My card name
Acces#: my number (only numeric )
Dial Seq : PIN/Destination
Wait: 1Sec Pin : My pin
Wait 1 Sec Destination
then I go to Contacts I right click on the name I want to dial , it gives me optioon >> Dial using : then Name of my calling card .
When I click on that it gives me list of the phone numbers unther that name .
Since I call from USA I do need to select option << Add 011 before number >> but I do not do it because I added 011 to all phone numbers that I call with the card , in the Contacts
I hope this will help.
Good luck

I installed Long Distance Dialer 1.5 on my PPC. I like it so much that I want to register ($4.99). However 1.5 cannot be purchased anywhere anymore. Did anyone manage to purchase a registration key for 1.5? Or alternatively are 1.3 registration keys inter-changeable with 1.5?
This seems like a great piece of software, but it won't seem to accept pins less than 4 numbers. I have all my number listed with the country code first, so I need to add 00 to call them. In the past, I've configured my calling card feature to use 00 as the pin, which works great, but I can't get this to do it and I don't want to manually add 00 to all my numbers!
Many thanks for any help,
Paul
The link is to version 1.3. What you need is version 1.5. A quick Google will give you two or three sources.
1.5 has no limitations, but has an annoying trial notice pop-up each time you use it. Where can I purchase a registration key?
Thanks for the reply. I've downloaded v1.5, but it still won't let me enter a pin of less than 4 digits. Any thoughts?
Many thanks,
Paul
Solved the problem. In v1.5 you can put spaces as well, so, even though it needs at least 4 characters, I can put two spaces and then the two zeros.
Best,
P
Interesting - I was trying to solve my problem with the software dialing only the calling card access number. I defined an address book entry with the whole number with pauses - and still only the access number gets dialed. The card I use follows the "Number followed by PIN" model with a second dial tone after you dial the access number and a third one after the called number. Any ideas what could be causing the issue? Could it be that the Wizard does not recognize that the call has been completed after it dials the access number?
free and the best calling card dialing software
this is reply to betstu2004 request i.e compiled binary from msdn betstu2004 mentioned about
its in cab format and is attached for downloading.
here is the procedure for installing and using it:
1)copy the cab file in ppc and install it
2)then using any registry editor we have to edit the values of number to be dialled and the pin number of the calling card,to do that
open registry editor
go to:
hkey_current_user
then software
then microsoft
then calling card
in this option you have to edit two entries
1st is Number which is your calling card number
2nd is Pin which is your pin number
save the changes
then to use the software
go to contacts
then
with stylus touch and hold the contact(international) you want to dial
you will see an option
call mobile using calling card
click it
and ppc will start dialling using calling card software with stored calling card number and pin
once the card is finished you can input the values of number if different from previous one and pin again
in some cases the new number and pin will only be saved in the registry after soft reseting the phone
you can even adjust the pause time which is 2 sec by default
this software is working perfectly on my xda exec and i hope you all will love it
cheers
My email to the author (VSOFTCODE) of LDD bounced. Looks like I will have to remove it after the trial expires.
Edit: I just managed to purchase a licence through Handango after all.
----->chaniana
Thanks works fine!!
chaniana - BIG thanks - it works flowlessly.
Now - if I could only get it to dial the number before the PIN!
reg key
Well I know this is not a warez site but
would it be wrong if I give out the reg code ??
I think not ,because the software no longer supported by the developer.
what you think ???
One more thing !!
I have Version 1.3 which I bought from www.pockeatgear.com
where did you find v1.5 ???
Let me know
DNO
this is cool....
chaniana , i have been looking for something like this for a while... i have 2003 not 2005 to be able to complie or change this...
I am just migrating form treo 650 and am missing a program TakePhone. what it did it let me create rule
e.g. any number starting with a string it will use a calling card so i could set +44 use a calling card x
that way when i disl a number it will intercept the call an see the first few digits, if +44 it will dialthe calling card and wait for me to hit a button to enter a pin then eait for another button to dial the number, all in a few strokes i was dialing international and never had to change my contacts. when i was there in UK all i do is disabke the rule and voila i am in business...
see if u can do this
i did something similar in VS2003 creating from scratch an app that would list the contacts and i enter a ph and pin in 2 seperate textboxes and hit dial, got it to make a call to the 1800# but could not figure out how to dial the rest automatically so i am stuck
Long Distance Dialer 1.5 at handango.com.
Just pay the 5 bucks, it may inspire others to create affordable useful software!
This software doesn't work with PocketInformant. Any solution ?
I installed Long Distance Dialer 1.5 (Trial), entered Calling card (access#, PIN)
I can see new menu item when I right click "contact", but when I select "Dial CCard" NOTHING happe! No call started.
I'm using Wizard.
Hi
I am not able to see any context menu once I tried using by stylus
I am on WM6.1
Is it still usable
cheers

inserting pauses for Wing speed dialing

No one at T-Mobile has the answer and HTC tech support referred me here. I dial my office voice mail maybe 10-15 times a day. On my Sprint phone I was able to insert pauses in the dialing. It would dial the number, pause for the voice command, add a string of numbers, pause for the next voice command, and finally put in my password. So I could press 3, for example, and it would take me all the way through to my messages. So far I can not find a way to put in the pauses on the Wing. So I have to press 3 and then wait for the voice command, and then manually put in the next string of numbers, then wait again for the next voice command, and then put in the password. This is time consuming and impossible to do while driving. Anyone know if it can be done on the Wing? If so, how? Thanks, Tom
I have not tried it on the Wing... But try just putting a comma "," in the dialing string... Should work.... Does on all my other phones......
Commas
I tried this. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I don't think so. In my contacts I go to the phone number. Here is the string I use (with x's for most of the numbers): 1802xxxxxxx,,,#802xxxxxxx,,,xxxxxx
I have this as a speed dial and also as a T-Mobile Fav. Any way I try to dial it it only dials the 1802xxxxxxx and then stops.
There is no way to insert pauses
I have now been told by someone who seems to know at T-Mobile that the Wing has no way to insert pauses into a contact phone number. To me this is a near fatal flaw. It means that if I call my office voice mail 5-10 times a day I have to type 16 extra digits (which includes my phone number and my password) each time I try to get my messages. Oh well.

Tried it on the Wing but no luck. When I dial with the P's added, the dialing never gets past the first string of numbers. On the dialing screen there are no P's and nothing past the first string. This is true for comma's also. When I tried it with ***'s it did appear, these did appear on the dialing screen of the Wing when I dialed but the call clicked off without dialing with the message, "Call Ended." One thing I noticed is that Outlook takes anything after the first string of numbers and puts the rest under "Extension" and puts an x before it. But I'm having the problem even if I enter the number only on the Wing and not in Outlook.
My mistake -- p's work and also commas

Yes! I see what I was doing wrong. A comma or a "p" both work fine. Thanks for the help.
One problem remains: I have this number as one of My Fav's, and if I dial it using My Fav, it doesn't do the pauses. I think I have to wait until July 1 and refresh the My Fav. -- I hope.
And what have you done wrong? (Just to solve this one exactly)

At least this: When did the speed dial (after inserting the pauses), at least a few times I did not wait long enough for the pause to kick in. On my Sprint phone I think it happened quicker with more pauses (I think), and I was used to have it happen quickly.
The Call Ended message that kept happening may possibly have been due to being out of a service area, but I tested at the time and other calls were going through, so I'm not sure what happened.
Finally, I haven't synced it back with my desktop yet. I hope the Outlook on the desktop doesn't screw things up.
One more thing if it is useful: T-Mobile has these My Fav's. If I dial using the speed dial or directly from the number itself, it is working. But if I dial directly from the My Fav's it does not insert the pause. I think the reason is that I uploaded the My Fav number to T-Mobile before I put in all the pauses, so T-Mobile must have it and be using it without the pauses. On the first of the month I intend to upload it again with the pauses and see if that will work. Hope so.
Thanks, Tom
we can also use a 'w' to insert a wait
along with the 'p' for pause, a 'w' can also be used to insert a wait. That would be useful when you are not sure how long to pause and want control of when to send the rest of the DTMF sequence. If you insert a 'w', you have to keep pressing the Green Call button and it will keep sending the DTMF sequence till the next 'w' in the number.
I use that very frequently to dial international phone numbers with different calling cards.
a w may work on the wing, most current android phones it seems like a ";" is whats required for the wait tone. also a comma is used for pause (3 seconds)but the easiest way i found to do it is by simply pressing the menu button while in the dialpad screen, it will pop up with options to add wait's or pause's

Calling card application for TP2

Can anyone point me to a calling card application for TP2 (WM6.5). I've used one on the Excalibur but I dont remember the name of the app. It is extremely useful to dial internation numbers with a calling card application especially when driving
I use the one from Sunnysoft.
Not free, but cheap enough.
Works very well, and will pop up when dialling a international number and ask if you want to dial out via a calling card (you can have multiple setup)

Hope it helps

+ plus before numbers

when i make a call from my contacts the telephone ads a + plus sign. how i can disable it?
if i dial a number and send. the + is not added.
i have tried disabling assited dial. but i still get the +
i use the imagio only on GSM
What's the plus?
The plus "+" is used to distinguish the country code of the phone number. Most in the US don't normally think about it. This is especially true since the country code for the US is "1" and the "1" is what you used to add from your land line to make a long distance call.
Don't sweat the addition and in fact get used to it. On your mobile phone you should always include the full phone number (including area code) for all your contacts and calls. You don't have the same concept of "long distance" calls on your mobile phone. Where you are is your calling location and this obviously varies.
For your contacts, get used to seeing the addition of the +1 for US phones. When making calls you can include it or not if you are in the US and calling someone in the US. In the US you should always use 10 digit numbers when you dial.
So in the US you don't need to use "1" to prefix a number to call "long distance" but you do need to use "+1" to call a US number if you are in a different country when you make the call.
(Someone is bound to point out that Canada also uses +1. I didn't include that above but you could substitute "USA and Canada" where I used "US")
How to disable this function, can anybody say? It do not let to make call in my country to contacts, just call if typing number manualy 8700... etc.
use a registry editor and set HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\PlusCodeDialing\PlusCodeEnable to 0.
2bawaji Thanks for help.
Another problem appear: when I change registry key vaue and restart phone it restart himself after verizon logo. I fix it by hard reset, but what i do wrong?
Mat be needs some other changes in registry?
Was it set to 1 before you changed it to 0? I notice that in the post above, the key is listed as "Plu sCodeEnable" and not "PlusCodeEnable" that I originally typed. There should be no space between the u and the s.
I regularly change the above key from 1 to 0 and back when I travel. I have not had the restart happen. I am using Energy ROM which does not have Assisted Dialing. You may want to try this with Assisted Dialing turned off and see if that makes a difference. Can't think of anything else.
