How to Browse files shared on your computer thru O2 Neo - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

I have O2 neo. I have used a friends HP pocket pc phone 6510, connected it to my home wi-fi router. Shared music files on my computer and browsed them thru the Phone. I am however not able to do that on my o2 Neo. Has anyone tried doing it ? I am connecting my O2 neo to my home router, have shared files on my computer. I am not able to figure out how to do it in Neo. Can any one please help !!!
Thanks in advance

I can accomplish this by means of Resco File Explorer's Network browser.
Just make sure you turn off any firewall (or configure it properly) to allow the incoming connection from the PPC.
Best regards,
Rayan

WiFi issues

1. hi is it possible to active sync over wifi connection.
2. is it possibile and if so how to network the wizard with my other computers in the house.
3. can i play media files audio/ video through my vario over a wifi connection if networked.
4. is file transfer possible over wifi from my desktop/ laptop to my vario.
please help. many thanks.
1. No. Activesync 4/4.1 does not include syncing over wi-fi any longer.
2/4. Depending how you have your wi-fi setup at home, you can map a drive on the PDA. I use Resco File Explorer and it is quite easy to do. Just this morning I mapped to my PC and grabbed a file I wanted. Copied it right to the wizard.
I don't think you can map a drive on the PC to represent the PDA, though. I haven't tried this since if I am at my PC, I would have the PDA with me and use Activesync.
3. Don't know this one.
many thanks for that
I'd like to add a question:
5. Can I use the WiFi internet connection on my Qtek 9100 on my laptop?
(qtek connected via WiFi + Laptop connected via USB = internet on laptop?)

Can't do wireless file transfer

Appreciate this is probably simple but I can't find a solution. All answers seem to relate to getting on the internet.
I have my PC going through a router and I can conect my Vario to the web via WiFi on the router.
What i can't work out is how to make the Vario and the PC see each other.
Thanks for any help
Never had my PC to see PDA.
You can try to map drives in Pocket explorer.

Wizard issue - WiFi related

Hi - I have an XDA Mini S and have connected without issue to the Internet via my router (Wirelessly of course).
The issue I have is that I cannot connect to any network shares on my PC. When I had a CF wireless card in my Ipaq I could do without issue. I have downloaded a ping proggy to XDA and can ping router but cannot ping the PC I have the shares on.
Normally (If I was using a laptop) I would check Workgroup/Domain settings, authentication credentials etc...nothing like this on XDA.
Please help

Hi Wiggz
I have just had this myself!!
Whilst connected via wifi go to:
Start
Programs
File Explorer
Menu
Open Path
New path
My PC is called computer and the shard file; file so enter in the normal \\computer\file
should work!!
It will ask you for your PC user name / password which will be the logon details you use for that PC.
Hope this helps!

File sharing over ad-hoc wifi

I just bought a usb wi-fi dongle so that i can connect to my wizard in office over wi-fi. Can anyone give any pointers how can i do file sharing in ad-hoc mode in such a way that i can access files on my office PC through my wizard without having a separate access point.
I tried connecting through ad-hoc mode and my wizard connects to the PC but doesn't show any shared folders and cannot find my PC (not even through IP) when using resco file explorer...

Click to collapse
To browse network folder on your HTC you should install some additional software. I've tried PocketLAN to share files between notebook and HTC via Wi-Fi. It've been working flawlessly. But you have to set IP and network mask on your HTC as it's in the office network.
Hmmm, i just installed pocketlan...I saw that my PPC gets an IP of 169.254.11.69 (subnet mask 255.255.0.0) and mycomp gets an ip of 169.254.87.204. Now am able to ping my comp using pocketlan on my PPC but am not able to map it. Whenever i try to do it, it says network address/name cannot be found.
that's strange What OS do you use?
You don't need any 3rd party software...
The Wizard will do this with it's built in file explorer.
Windows XP is the OS...
Did it finally after umpteen number of tries...Turns out ICS is necessary even for simple file sharing even though i do not want to surf net thru my PC's connection. And I also had to unplug my lan cable as the IP windows tries to assign once ICS is on is 192.168.0.x and this range is already used by my lan thus causing a conflict...Anyways, its better than nothing..I just wanted a faster medium to transfer files than BT which is painfully slow..
Any idea when are they going to provide an upgrade to BT 2.0 for wizard?

PROBLEM: sharing folder with WiFi...

Hi guys!
I'm trying to use (first time 4 me!) WiFi connection from my laptop and my Jamin in this way:
Start from scratch (without connections...) and turn on both wifi.
Create a new connection for only 2 devices from my Jamin without any security (4 the moment).
Now I can see the new wifi network on my laptop...
I chose connect from my laptop and the connections estabilish.
Handshake to retrieve the ip address is oaky and now I've got the connection from my 2 devices (Jamin and laptop).
On laptop I can ping the ip address of my Jamin but now I don't know what can I do with this connection.
Is it possible to share some folder on laptop and/or on Jamin to copy/remove/move some files?
Is it possible to use the std modem connection of my laptop for browsing the web from Jamin?
Is it possible to sync with Activesync my Jamin?
How can I do it, guys?
So just to clarify. You have a laptop connected to a wifi router, and your Jammin is connected to the same router. But your internet connection is obtained through a standard modem on your laptop. Am I right with all of this?
If so then sharing a folder on your laptop in order for you to browse, stream, rename, open, etc. from your Jammin is a piece of cake. Simply change your sharing values of the folder on your laptop. It should then appear on the network folder on your Jammin. I use Resco Explorer on the Jammin ... I couldn't get the standard file browser to work.
As far as sharing the internet, I'm pretty sure it can be done ... I did a similar thing with bluetooth a few years back but it was messy and unreliable. Can't help you much further sorry.
