An O2 account manager told me that they expect to release the new ROM with MSFP and presumably A2DP / AKU2 today, no sign on the my-xda.com site yet though.
Tum te tum
Still no sign. Did this 'account manager' say this was definitely going in yesterday or around now?
DBo.
He said it was going to turn up yesterday, but he was obviously wrong. Keep watching the skies...

New ROM is now on o2 website. You have to type valid IMEI and o2 mobile number for download...

I posted this info on the forum few minutes ago 8)
... I've created new topic because it's very important info (at least for the few of us)
Regards
can someone upload file to ftp?
I've just been to http://www.my-xda.com/xdaminis_soft3.html and the ROM isn't there - the launch ROM is the only one showing...?
Once you've entered the IMEI code it directs you to here
http://www.my-xda.com/downloads/Xda_Minis_Upgrade_v2.21.4.101.exe
But gives a file not found. Guess they're still updating the web pages.
can you give me imei for a mini s device, i will upload asap
Okay, I see they've not updated the page I clicked above, but if you go to the main page the links are there.
The 50Mb EXE file downloads as 4K though, so somebody clearly jumped the gun when updating the page.
I can only see the file : Launch ROM v 1.5.4.102 (49.0 MB) ??????
UPDATE : Downloading it now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
me too - the rom links are now live
Let us know how you get on.
I'll try it in the morning.
In Germany we have the problem, that o2 have never released a rom since some for the XDA I and II. No one for the III / Mini / Mini S. And i think this Rom won't be available in germany too.
O2 has a very bad update politic.
Contacted O2 with regards to Costs for using push email, and they inform me that its only the amount of GPRS data you use (Personal user not business).
But they include 1Mb free with every tariff and anything additional is £3 per Mb.
Is this the correct information ? Sometimes customer services do give out wrong information.
can someone post the direct link to the update as when i put in my imei number and phone number, the site just keeps resetting back to the start. i ported my number from orange so don't know if they recognise it as a o2 number.
http://xda.o2.co.uk/downloads/Xda_Minis_Upgrade_v2.21.4.101.exe
Is this rom that different to Qtek as I can see the radio etc is the same its just the extended rom that is newer, and that is prob just full of O2 crap that no-one needs.
But if I'm wrong let me know.
As everyone with a Wizard wants the best for their little pet!!!
According to Microsoft, Global Address Lookup is supported in the Exchange Server version that provides the push email that so many of us are enjoying. However, it does not appear to work as documented on the 8525 unit... According to Microsoft:
"Support for over-the-air lookup of global address list (GAL) information stored on Exchange Server. With the Messaging and Security Service Pack, mobile device users will be able to receive contact properties for individuals in the GAL. These properties can be used to search remotely for a person quickly based on name, company, and/or other aspect. Users will get all of the information they need to reach their contacts without having the data store on their device."
Has anyone figured out how to access the GAL from their 8525? At this point, the only way to use a contact record from the corporate Exchange server is by copying it to "Outlook Contacts" and then using the wireless sync to retrieve that particular contact record... There does not appear to be any way to "search" the GAL from within the Contacts application on the 8525 (such as the method described By Microsoft)
Does one need to download and install the "Global Contact Access for Pocket PC Phone Edition" application that Microsoft lists on their web site?
Thanks in advance,
I have an 8525 and I'm just going into Contacts. If I type in the name of someone in my office GAL and not in my contacts list, the result is "No matches: **** <Find Online>" Click Find Online and the results will be from your office GAL. I have nothing special installed on the Hermes. Just the backend server has to be Exchange 2003 SP1.
PS, I tried installing the MS "Global Contact Access for Pocket PC" and never got it to work. IIRC, it complained about my self signed server cert.
Bizarre! The behavior you describe is exactly how Microsoft's documentation says it should, but my 8525 does not behave this way.
For now, I have installed the "Power Toy" from Microsoft, but its definitely not as "clean" as using the stock setup. Can you see "Free/Busy" information when setting up a meeting?
It's not perfect, but I thought I would share what I wrote to get free TV listings. Feedback is welcome, but I can't guarantee I will get a chance to do a revision.
TVQuick v1.0
What it is
I wanted a free way to check TV listings, I wrote this and it works for me
It downloads the HTML text for a 3 hour window of your choosing from Yahoo TV
It parses this code into a text view of the first 54 channels of your provider. My provider has > 700 channels so I limited it to 54.
The program saves the last quide and will display it on the next startup
What it isn't
Tested only on a WM6 PPC 6800 Mogul
Tested only with my provider - not sure what will have with a different provider with fewer channels
Slow - the download is pretty fast, but the HTML parsing is slow, be patient or use the Abort option
To Use
Unzip TVQuick.zip and move "TVQuick.exe" and "HTTP.dll" to a directory of your choice (I use a folder called TVQuick in My Documents)
TVQuick will create files for preferences and the last guide in the same folder as TVQuick
Go to Yahoo TV in your web browser at "http://tv.yahoo.com/", select "TV LISTINGS". You will need to logon and select a provider
Run TVQuick and enter the provider code in preferences (the code is after "provider=" in the URL: http://tv.yahoo.com/listings?starttime=1199635200&showFavorites=1&provider=132024)
Known Deficiencies
When first run, sometime a resource error will appear - just restart and it should be OK
No horizontal scroll bar
Some plain text junk makes it through the parser
Slow
Landscape/display rotation not yet implemented
D-Pad and other subtil user interface desires not yet implemented
Looks promising. I have a question though...I am unable to get my provider code from Yahoo. The link stays tv.yahoo.com.
Also, I made a cab file for the files if you're interested I could post it.
really nice prog. does it function with italian tv list?
the url syntax is a bit different
http://it.tv.yahoo.net/programmi-tv/rai-uno/default.asp

Thanks for the cab, I may make some changes so I will wait on that.
Try this, first login to Yahoo (It will have your login name in the upper right hand corner of the page). From tv.yahoo.com, select "TV LISTINGS" under "TV HOME", this should get you the listings. On the right hand side of the page, the provider will be listed if you have already set it up, otherwise you must enter it in. If you can use yahoo to display your local TV listings, the provider ID will be in the URL: "http://tv.yahoo.com/listings?starttime=1199840400&showFavorites=1&provider=32105425" - in this case 32105425.
Good Luck.

Thanks- it might. Unfortunately I can't read enough italian to get the listing. If you logon to Yahoo and use it to get your local information, it might work. The guide needs to be customized to your location using the normal browser. The URL should end up with some type of time code and location/provider code (the one you have looks generic, like tv.yahoo.com). Once we have this we should be able to make it work. Let me know.

What I had to do since I already had my provider set up was change the date or time of what I was using in order to find the provider number. Works great now. Thanks!

use the opera browser and under settings it has a section that says brodcast device as: and you can choose from mobile device or desktop, choose desktop. this is not free (24 USD) but has a free trial.
to download current version from opera go here:
http://www.opera.com/download/mobil...=/img/products/mobile/platform/865.gif&extra=
or you can download the beta version from (no settigns for desktop on new version):
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=19533
(you may aslo want to download the cab files that pute PIE back as the default browser because when you install the beta it immediately makes opera the default browser, can be found here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=217486&postcount=135 )

hell peeps..i wonder if anyone can help with the following prob..
i have an xda mantle running wm6.1 on a t-mobile sim card.
for work out in the field i use internet explorer set up to use gprs to contact my works servers via exchange.
the pda then connects with software called tesseract and i fill out info on pages then submit the filled in pages.
the whole thing works great but on ONE page only i get the error "the page you are looking for cannot be found due to error 0x80072f78"
i then have to refresh the page and try again,,sometimes it takes up to 10 goes before it will progress onto next page of tesseract software.
it only happens on this one page..no others.
have deeply researched this prob here and on google...it always refers to an activesync problem...I DO NOT HAVE THIS PROB....just the prob described above.
i find it hugely irritating and am willing to have babies to whom can help me
