Does anyone know how to do it?
Optus Australia that is.
many thanks
Optus GPRS
This should be already set up on your SIM card, otherwise just call Optus & they will send you the instructions.
Good luck - I have just come back from Asia, the Global GPRS was very handy.
Crash
ahaaaaaaa thats easy mike!
just go to program -> autoconfig -> and select optus... Then there you are ready for GPRS... Thats it if you are Asia pacific ROM... Im using Optus too so gud onya..
I am having the same problem since I dont have the autoconfig after doing the reset (not installing the ext rom).
Any ideas?
For optus,
need to select the modem as cellular line (GPRS)
then set the modem 's access point to " internet "
no user name / password / domain ( leave blank)
and it should work
eg: in the My ISP , click new
Tried as suggested, still didn't work. I even launched the 2 optus cab files in the ext rom.
I don't know if this may cause some issues....my sim in the PDA is TELSTRA but my ISP is optus.
Then you'll need to connect to Telstra.
BTW which is the best pre-paid in Australia for GPRS ? Are they open so I can connect directly to my own ISP's mail server ?
Regarding setting up GPRS
If u r having a telstra sim card then u need to have the telstra setting. U can have the setting from club imate. That's a ready made cab file. So all u have to do is download and then u can click on the file and it will install all by itself...
Thanks got it going by using the telstra cab file from the ext rom.
Cheers Paul
I currently have GPRS and MMS fully operational using a Virgin network Pay as you go SIM on my M1000. If I have to do a hard reset then I have to manually enter all the connection settings manually.
I know that most network providors have CAB files in the extended ROM which usually set these up, mine used to set up the Orange ones before I upgraded to WM2003SE.
I'm no expert on CAB files so does anyone have an idiots guide to how I can produce one for my GPRS/MMS settings?
resurrected...
Bringing this one back to forefront...
Did anyone manage to do this?
Many thanks
Please see the following link for a suitable CAB file:

Hi
I recently purchased an O2 XDA IIi, which is unlocked from O2 and has been hard-reset to remove O2 features.
My SIM works as much that I can make/receive calls and send/receive text messages.
But, to access Internet, Email, MMS etc etc I need the settings for Orange (Ive tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7306 but no luck).
Does anyone have the correct settings please ?
Is there a programme I can download (the type that is pre-installed onto Orange phones) as this may be the quickest solution.
I have tried Orange support on 3 occassions now and whilst they state they dont support non-orange phones they have tried to help - but without success.
Does anyone know if the hard-reset actaully leaves various O2 settings on the phone, which still need sorting.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GOOD !!
Thank You !!!
Paul
try removing the o2 profiles in connection
and making sure it's not set to autopick the o2 connection profile
and such
p.s. hardreset remove no o2 features as they are most likely loading in again from the extented rom when it's hardreset
guess you could try to edit the extented rom and remove the o2 stuff from it and hardreset once more
hi
there is no sign of O2 anywhere in the connections settings.
how can i find if O2 exists elsewhere ?
thanks
Paul
settings->connections->connections
should give you a menu with connections
something the line of
My IPS
add a new modem connection
manage existing connections
My work network.....
if you pick manage existing connections you can see which
connections exist and edit them
RE: GPRS and MMS settings
Hi,
Follow this link, Ihave uploaded all the available cab installs for UK carriers, contract and PAYG.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26463
These are the latest version 2.0, as I have seen some earlier versions elsewhere on forum.
cab file not recognized
1st thanks to you all for helping all us newbie's.
I've checked the threads (hopefully), unlocked the xdaIIi with itsme's fine unlocking tool, downloaded the cab file for vodafone uk. But when i browse to it in file explorer i get a icon and msg to say that the file's not recognized.
And i need to run a program to open the file.
Also the file name is; "download" and not uk *****.cab.
Any ideas or am i just missing the point ?
Thanks.
Does anyone have a the Tmobile USA settings in a cab file that configures the MMS as well as the GPRS settings? I am also looking for the OZ communitcator. I have only been able to find them in the Tmobile Custom Rom but I am unable to extract them. The ones on the FTP did not work for me.
My Xv6800 data does not work. I've done everything that i found from the forums. Anyone have any advice? I did 2.40 olipro, then did stock rom, then DCD 3.2.6 and radio 3.42.50.
Did you load your carrier cab? I am assuming since you have an XV6800 that you Verizon, if so get the Verizon cab and install it.
Cabs are available here.

You will have to add the cell modem back in your self. When you flash with the custom rom there is no cellular modem added by default . It's documented some where (I had the same issue the first time I flashed). You have to go to connections click add then select cellular modem. Make sure you have the correct network settings (UN/PW) and your all good to go.

IS there any way to made a carrier cab? I do not see the one I need on the list. I have the original phone and I can pull it off from that phone.

I think you need to refer to the post by BillThyCat because your wrong about that. A cab file is all it takes.
The only reason you would need to load a cell modem driver is if you were going to have it connect to a different ISP that your default carrier data network, as far as I know, as I have never had to load any sort of driver to get my phone back on the data network after flashing.
If your carrier isn't listed, and you have the original phone still handy, I believe there is info you can copy from your EPST screens and put into your new phone that will reenable data. Tho this is something I have not had to do since I have a carrier cab available.
What carrier do you have? Maybe someone else here with the same carrier can help out.
You may need to recreate the dialup connection under network connections as well, with most carriers the dialup # is #777 and then you use a login and password that is unique to your account. It's possible your carrier help desk may be able to walk you thru how to reconfigure this. Depends on the carrier.
This doesn't require software, just some configuration on the phone.
