On my 8125 I've been running the first test 2.25 for a while, nothing seemed to work properly. So I flased back to 2.17 basic from the ftp.
I installed agile messenger and it works perfect through usb pass through. When I disconnected the usb it instantly signed me off, forced gprs to connect, and signed me back on! Now this is how it's supposed to work!! I love it. This is the first time I've ever seen this work properly!! And I've played around with most the ROMs here.
Here's the problem...
I saw the new official 2.25 release and flashed to it, thinking it would be the best out there... and now the above doesnt work. In fact, if I pull the usb cable agile just sits there like it's still online. It takes many many minutes before it slowly starts noticing that there is no connection.
This is unacceptable, so I flashed back to the good ole 2.17 basic. Guess what?? agile still will not disconnect/reconnect after i pull the plug on usb.
I really wish there was a stable fix for this. I mean, it should notice the connection is gone, and force gprs to connect!
Any help/suggestions? Registry edits to make this happen??
Anyone? Any ideas?
How could this have worked great, and now not work? I flashed to the same exact 2.17 rom, installed the same exact version of agile, both from my pc.
Weird!
Does agile not use some sort of heartbeat to detect connecton status? If not, it should! Messenger programs should have some way of detecting connection drop, and then force a reconnect...
I'm guessing this is just an Agile problem! It just doesnt recognize when a connection is dropped. It should force another connection (GPRS) when needed. Hopefully they'll correct this in the final release!

Hi,
Have had K-Jam for about a month now. ROM up to date (pending new ROM in next few weeks I believe). Activesync 4.1 installed on WinXPSP2, running Norton Internet Security 2006 (incl firewall etc) on a Vaio Laptop. Out of box the K-Jam synchronised easily and quickly to Outlook through USB, never had any connectivity issues. Synching also worked fine through Bluetooth which I tried only as a test as charging and synching all day was useful at my desk and stopped my speakers making a racket every time the GPRS kicked in to download my email (every 15 mins * 2 accounts). Everything was working perfectly, I was a very happy man and I have to say I am very happy indeed with the K-Jam other than occasional performance issues (bad button/touch screen lag occasionally).
HOWEVER
Firstly, I was hugely disappointed with Activesync 4.1 which seems a big step backwards not least through the loss of useful features such as Backup/Restore. It seems like a nasty cheap alternative to the older Activesync 3.8 which I used happily with my Ipaq for over a year. Nevermind - I bought my own backup software spBackup which runs every night and backs up onto my sd card - a nice feature for when I am travelling without laptop and need to cold boot and restore (something that always worried me with Backup/Restore being based on my PC with AS3.8).
Secondly, the K-Jam hung on an incoming phonecall and the soft reset button would not work. Thank god for spBackup I thought, so did a hard reboot and ran the spBackup executable on the storage card. On restore, the K-Jam looked fine, everything was back to the state it was in at 3am that morning.
BUT
Now, when I plug the USB cable between K-Jam and laptop, Activesync just sits saying "Connecting" with the spinning circle green and never gets any further. I can hear windows detect the device, and the first time I connected it it installed "Generic RDIS device" plus whatever other bits and bobs - so the device is clearly connecting. Activesync just never gets any further than "Connecting". I have searched high and low, but there is nothing other than advice re Windows Firewall (my Norton Firewall for instance). I went to the extent of removing the firewall etc, and have got to the stage that I can confirm that it is not a firewall issue. If I try to get a connection from activesync from the K-Jam, the activesync on the device flashes momentarily and is then in the disconnected stage again. I removed all partnerships from both devices, tried again - no joy. I then tried to synchronise with Bluetooth - Success!
Therefore all is not lost, I can connect with Bluetooth. But it is irritating not being able to connect via USB. My suspicion is that I am going to have to hard reset and reinstall everything once more - but before I go that route does anyone have any advice that may be able to help me?
Thanks.

Sounds like exactly the same problem I had. Worth a go, anyway.

Had a go. No joy unfortunately.
Looking through the forum there are a lot of issues with AS4.1 which fills me with dread...
I'll keep googling and hoping someone else has resolved this issue.
Thanks.
EDITED: I'm running the 2.17 basic ROM from the ftp site and I love it, except for the fact that IE will not load any pages through WIFI or ActiveSync! BUT... Agile Messenger works perfect through each!
All of the above works fine through GPRS (slow though!)
The stock ROM (1.08 I believe) did not have this problem at all. I've read all over the place that this 2.17 is the best ROM out there, most stable, etc.
:x
Please help
run your 8125 under the faucet. theres probably dust inside that needs to be washed out.

@Tweker: DO NOT DO THIS!!! It is just a joke.
@Everyone else: With a dim bulb like Tweker reading these forums we must be more careful about our jokes.
Yeah, that was a complete waste of a post. LOL
Anyhow, here's an update:
Agile connects and operates just fine through GPRS, WIFI, and ActiveSync. But PIE wont even load a page through WIFI or ActiveSync, it will only work through GPRS (very slow).
That is very odd, since Agile connects perfectly fine!
As I said before, this was never a problem on the 1.08 stock ROM. It's been a problem on almost all the other ROMS I've tested (2.17, 2.21, 2.25)
Are there any registry keys that tell PIE where to look for default connection?
The device connects just fine to my WIFI, and like I said, Agile Messenger connects and runs perfect. So this isnt the standard problem that a lot of people have posted about their WIFI not working at all, and/or trying to use proxy.
HELP!?
Another update:
I'm still having this problem. Cannot find a fix. PIE still will not work through the usb active sync or WIFI!!
But Agile Messenger does!!
I've tripple checked all settings. WLAN is set to "The Internet". Network Cards are set to "The Internet". ActiveSync is set to "The Internet".
Those settings were set that way on other ROMS and I never had a problem... I'd really like to stay on this ROM because it's my favorite by far! Except of coarse for this little problem!
Come guys - help!!
Internet Explorer will not load any pages through WIFI or ActiveSync!
Agile Messenger does connect and works perfect through each!
Any ideas??
After a while the Internet Explorer comes back with the msg: The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.
Goodlink stays operational, so it can't be the GPRS connection. Tried several ROMs and am now on faria v5.0/2.18.0.0WWE. Still with the same problems.
Usually it happens when connecting with the PC through ActiveSync (4.5).
However it has happened without connecting to the PC too.
Solution till now is: cold reset and reinstall applications. But am wondering:
* is this a common problem? (met another person with a Trinity running into the same problem)
* is there another workaround, i.e. registry setting which locks up?
Thanks,
Johan
problem ?solved?
identified the problem to be with the laptop, not quite sure why, but it has to do with the USB port in the laptop. Even after exchanging the harddisk and re-imaging the laptop the problem still occurs. When I hook my pda's up with other PCs/laptops (after cold booting - reinstall apps) to run sync, there is no problem and Mobile-IE keeps working normally.
Don't know why, but at least its reproducable.

This is very common. I'm sure everyone has gotten this message sometime or other. If the website has a broken or bad link, this will pop up, or if a link wasn't tapped properly on the touch screen. No fix...

THANKS for your reply.
It's a bit more complicated than that. After connecting to the laptop there is no url accessible what so ever. Of course the msg is seen on other occasions as you said when not tapping properly or broken links, but after connecting it to the laptop directly it will give this msg continously.
I hooked it up to the laptop through a docking station/port replicator and then the internet connection keeps running. With the current laptop I have I simply musn't hook it up to through direct USB connection.
I also get the same error, but only over GPRS when I'm receiving an email and thus ActiveSync is going.

If you're getting a good and steady internet connection, and still get this message, I'm assuming the problem lies in the laptop itself.

Traded up(?) to the Niki from a Tornado, I use push email from the works exchange server, over Vodafone contract GPRS, the Tornado was always great for this.
Setup the Niki with the same GPRS settings, when I turn it on everything works, push email, internet browsing etc. After a while it stops working, can't sync, can't browse the web, or even get a weather update. Though it still says it's got a good GPRS connection.
Switch off and back on and it all works again for a short while, then same again.
I've even flashed wioth Tom's ROM to see if that improved things, still the same.
Stoping and starting the GPRS connection doesn't help.
Proxy, DNS, other issue ?
Any ideas ?
I have the same problem. The only way to restore it in my experience is by activating 3G in the comms manager (or restarting). From there the phone will log off from the data connection and log back on again. From the searching I've done it seems to be a problem related to WM6. I also use push mail and, when this happens, it's very annoying. Haven't found a solution yet. I've tried an alternate DNS address (still nothing), I've tried upgrading the radio to a Kaiser ROM (same problem), and I've tried using Toms ROM (still the same problem). I was hoping that upgrading the radio ROM would solve it, but it hasn't. I'm going to try and have the phone on 3G all day and see if it drops out of connection. If it doesn't then that would indicate some problem with the GPRS side of WM. I don't think it's a setting thing, but I could be wrong. I wish I could find a solution though because I'm considering moving to an N95 8Gb...
I have the same issue,
see my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374226
but with no reply...
When it occurs I can switch off the phone part (plane mode), but I can't switch back on, it stucks to plane mode... I've to shutdown the device to be able to restart a good data connection.
Maybe a WM6 bug... or radio rom issue .. I dunno
Thanks both,
I've changed the radio rom to this one, RUU Nike Radio 1.64.08.21K , which is a hacked Kaiser one, seems a bit better, still a low signal, but quicker reconection, and the GPRS stays up longer.
Vodafone UK
Tom's Rom
RUU Nike Radio 1.64.08.21K
Cheers.
GPRS connectivity issue
Same issue here. Push mail, GPRS, internet stops working after a while. Sometimes it works for a day or less. I place it into plane mode and then turn off plane mode. and it usually works. Sometimes i have to reboot the whole thing, but not very often.
The display still shows G in the top box, but doesn't work.
Anyone have any fixes, or suggestions...
OMG, didn't know that this is a common problem.
Waiting for the SE XPERIA X1.
I've been trying to get my friends phone to connect to my notebook and have been unsucessful. I tried changing cables, reloading activesync. I can take the the same cable trying to connect the mogul unplug it and put it into my Kaiser and it works just fine. Unlplug the Kaiser and put it into the Mogul and absolutely nothing except for the charging light come on. Tried doing soft/hard rest on teh phone. I'm really out of options on this. Any ideas of what to try?
Under the connections panel check the USB to PC connection. you may have to un-check "Enable advanced network functionality"
Also what OS are you running?
I read that from another thread before and that didn't work for me either.
I'm running XP.
She had a problem before not being able to connect. I added a bunch of software to her phone before and then it started being able to sync. I did so much to the phone before so not sure how I fixed it. But for some reason I thought maybe it could something to do with NetCF since that the only update that would effect the whole phone.
Stock ROM? I know I had some issues with one of the cooked roms I made in the kitchen, I can't remember which one though...
Gudy
Orignal Rom. I was actually going to update her to a cooked rom.
I would, bet it fixes the problem too.
Gudy
unblock your firewall, i had the same problem last night and all i had to do is unblock firewall, or add it to trusted programs and it worked fine for me.
