Cannot Connect Notification - Networking

Right, on occasion, when I am out of signal coverage, my universal might try to connect to the internet....
When it fails, it tells me 'cannot connect bla bla bla, check network coverage etc etc'
Question:
Is there any way to turn off this pointless notification?

even I do not have GPRS setup on my XDA2?
Apart from the setup, the network is all around you. So: YES, the Radio detects it and then shows this 'G'. Maybe it even stands for 'Gee look what I found: GPRS availability'
On my MDAI & II this Icon is shown when i connect to a GPRS Network, not when it is found.
The G appears when a GPRS network is detected as being available for connection, regardless of whether you are connected or not.
Patrick, this sounds different for you, maybe your ROM/Carrier has something we don't.
cheers,
Alex.
I also tried my XDA3 and it is the same. When i boot th device and it is logged on to the network i just get the signal strength.
When i then start a connection(over the ConnectionManager or the RasApi, same behavior) the G Icon is shown when connection starts.
Weird, my G always appears just after I switch the phone on when I wake up in the morning. I never connect my GPRS unless I need it - worried about frying my nuts when the xda is in my pocket (you never know, I might need them again one day).
rgds,
Alex.
Hi,
On my device and all our local phone network here. You will only get the "G" icon only if you have subcribe to the service. The general observation is that the icon will stay for about 5 to 10 second after the phone radio is switched on and disappear afterwards. You can also check it by clicking the signal strength icon.
The correct term should be "attached".
By default, your phone will search for GPRS on radio start, and when it finds the one you belong to, it attaches to the GPRS network -- thus the symbol "G".
But this doesn't mean you're connected, only that you're ready. You are only connected to the GPRS when you click Connect ...etc, when a username & password is verified.
So, generally speaking, you'll need to see the "G" before you can go online on GPRS.
basically it just tells you that GPRS is available.... if your connected you'll see the two arrows above the signal icon in the taskbar instead of the antenna shaped one...

Dialed: isp.cingular..The answering modem...blah blah blah...

Anyone know what this is. I have the phone tethered (bluetooth and/or wired) and I have seen this sometimes come up.
Dialed: isp.cingular
The answering modem has disconnected.
To check your connection settings and
change them if needed, tap Settings.
Settings
Even though I get this message, I actually still have connection while tethered. If I click dismiss on that icon that pops up, after a few minutes, it pops up again. Is this normal and is there a way to shut it off?
Anyone tethering the 8525 get this same pop up?

Internet timing out/freeze

Anyone know what the hell is going on when internet kicks you off without telling you, and its not tmobile shutting me off. When you try to reconnect, it's either waiting for network, or it gives a bubble message trying to connect but wont. When you disconnect by tapping the "E" while it is connecting, it won't disconnect (I'm thinking its either trying to download something, even though no internet pages are open, or anything to my awareness is downloading)
ANY IDEAS????
Thanks!
Not sure, did you clear your temp internet files?

Wifi connected, but not transmitting at times

Hi all,
At times, my hermes' wifi connects to a wireless access point (WAP) successfully, but no data is being exchanged. As in, at times, a connection has reasonable visibility and signal strength, but i cannot surf the web nor sign in Windows Live. The connection just wont move, if you know what I mean. This doesnt happen all the time though. Just at times, even though the signal strength is reasonable.
Sometimes, I will manage to load a page, before the connection stops moving. I will have to connect again to load another page, before it stops again. Has it got something to do with my radio/rom or it is due to the WAP? Please help.
Cheers.
Anyone? Please?

S7 Edgesays "No internet" in wifi

So my problem is that after i connect in any wifi network, my phone says "no internet" however I really have internet connection (for example i can go to facebook), and after reboot it works normal sometime. Tried factory reset with no any help. So does someone have same problems and if you do, did you fix it?
My phone does this with any wifi network and everytime reboot "fix" it. Also i don't do anything special before this problem appears.
Phone: S7 Edge (G935F)
OS: Android 7 Nougat
so it's just cosmetic?
I guess to determine if you've internet the smartphone is pinging a certain server which seems not to be available in your case.
I only did restart once and while I'm on recognized network, it was fixed permanently. It happened only on first use, you may need to reboot the router

Well i guess it's only cosmetic since i can use browser normally and my whatsapp etc works great. I just don't understand why it works this way.
I have similar issues on my wi-fi. When strength of signal goes under 50% (ca <65 dBm), it starts to lag and very offen lost connection to the internet...pretty disturbing and dissapointing I have to say.

Okay, is it like it's really losing connection or just saying that like in my case (i have the connection, but my phone thinks i don't so it shows that "no internet" notification in wifi settings and in the wifi icon)?
It is really also losing of connection, download stuck or is really sloooow. It is also indicated in status bar in Wi-Fi icon (exclamation mark) and under Network name is "Internet can be unavailable".
When the signal is weak, I can't even finish network test through Ookla app - upload test can't be finished.
Same situation is with other wifi networks...in my work when the signal is at 50% signal, it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting, my other phone has stable connection at the same place where Edge is strugling
