Hi.
i want to move Windows big size file like PowerPoint from memory to SD card.
how can i do this?
You can't really - you'd have to build yourself a new rom, removing the apps you want from the original rom, flash the new rom, and then make backups of the removed apps on your sd. Not easily feasible.

I was thinking that i can do it through registry!.
anyway how can i build my own rom?. some guides, please.
Thanks.
btw, my device is imate jasjar

Hi there,
On my old HTC Diamond I installed everything to phone memory and so when I flashed it I just reinstalled all my apps. However, this time I have installed a large amount of them to the storage card. I don't remember my Diamond's storage card being flashed - so thats not the issue (I will probably remove the card before doing it anyway) - but my question is will my phone still see the installed apps on the memory card and put them in the start menu etc? Or will I be better off just uninstalling everything and re-doing it from scratch?
Also, is the new HTC Rom available in the UK yet?
bump?
surely someone can tell me

Check your HTC site in the UK to answer your own question.
Perhaps you should read more about how a flash works before you try with your HD2. Think of it this way: You have two hard disks in your computer, C and D. With Windows XP on C you installed all your programs on D. Then you decided to install Windows 7 on drive C, which copied over your XP. Do you think that Windows 7 will run the programs in D? The answer is obviously no.
The situation is similar when you flash a new ROM. With a file manager you could see the programs on your storage card, but that is all. You would have to reinstall all the programs for them to work.
Take care and understand everything you really need to know before you do decide to flash.

Hi all,
There are a few updates/hotfixes for the Leo on the HTC website at the moment which I want to download and install. My question: As some of these files are quite large, one is 12mb, where would these files be installed, internal memory or SD card, or will I be given a choice as per cab installation?
Thx for any replies.

I have about 60mb of free memory on my phone at the moment. The updates/hotfixes I've downloaded, 9 files in all, add up to about 32mb. I know I should have probably gradually downloaded and installed these files. Therefore I would prefer to install to SD card. Can anyone see any problems with this, or do these files NEED to be installed direct to the device?
Again thx for any replies.

these updates are not like cabs, and install into the ROM directly replacing previous file, so no extra storage is used up.
Not to mention you could just, take the stuff on your actual phone's memory and shift whatever files you have eating up the ridiculous amount of space the phone has on board to the SD card as well.
System files or updates shouldn't ever go on the SD card unless you're doing rom changing and that's a completely different beast. Reason being for me is that an SD card can mess up over time plus its nice to have reference to the files incase you need them again in the future.
HI first id like to say thanks to all the people who develloped this software for my blackstone its given my old phone a wonderfull lease of life.
I am new to this whole scene so if my question seems a little stupid please let me know.
I have the 2.2 Froyo version installed (I think) and all is working wonderfully apart from the camera but i never use that anyway oh and the ability to change wall paper just reverts the wallpaper back to the origional. but again thats not a problem.
But i have a question. Is it possible to install my apps to my sd card ? i want to try a few apps ive downloaded but im running out of space on my internal memory i would like to install apps to run of my sd like in winmo is this possible?
Any help would be much appreciated
And again thanks for this wonderfull software
Richi
I haven't tried this so don't know if it works on our blackstones, but apparently with 2.2 you can now move installed apps to your SD Card if the app has been written to support that feature. Read more - http://www.androidtapp.com/android-...-sd-card-feature-in-android-2-2-requires-you/
any updates on this? i tried to use the provided solutions but i lost the access to mai blackstone sdcard....
there is this free app on the market. search app 2 SD.
this will show what apps that can be moved to SD card.
Hi sorry for the late reply ive been busy.
I tried App 2 SD and it told me which apps i can move to my sd card, this is good but when you actually try to move the apps it tells me operation failed.
Its not a big problem i just thought it may help in memory use to have apps installed on the memory card like windows mobile.
The data.img is only 256mb and all your app's are stored in that file..If you want to expand the data.img to have more app you either have to do it yourself or modify the rootfs
a link for you

after you install an app go to application management, select the installed application and there will be a button called move to sd
Hi everyone
I just managed to boot android onto my HD2 and I'm loving it!
Question though: when i install applications from the android market, where do they get stored/installed? Is it in the SD card? Or on the flash memory of the phone... I couldn't seem to find a directory on my sd card that had all the applications I downloaded...
Thanks in advance!
they will get stored in the data file unless it needs some external access and then it will create a folder on the sd card
oh, do you mean that 1GB data.img file?
so it basically does just stay on the SD card then right?
i installed quite a bit of applications, but the data.img file still seems to stay at the same size..?
Yes, exactly. everything will be stored in the 1GB data.img. Unless you download additional stuffs through or within the application, then the application will create a new folder to store them.
To conclude, everything will be stored in your SD card.
great! thanks!
Installing apps
Since the topic is about installation of apps, i'd just like to ask a question about installing apps. I'm new to Android on hd2 and was wondering if they are cab files to install android apps like in WM. And also if there is, how do u install the apps as we can;'t access file explorer in android
Thanks
Hi guys,
I have an old HTC HD2 and today i have been trying to find a version of android that installs on the internal memory (NOT on the sdcard, which I don't have). I think it has to be a DAF file? On several sites and tutorials I have seen people having some version of android installed on the phone, but i have been looking on here for a few hours now but I'm not able to find any... Does it still exist? I already task29 my phone so i think it's completely formatted and has no OS on it now, so If anyone knows a link to a android version that can be installed on the phone memory without sd card, it would help me a lot!
Thanks in advance!
I think those builds are still available, but you need to search in the very od threads. ANd you need to make sure it is Sense 1.0 because newer versions are larger so either you would not have enough space for user data or the ROM would not fit internal storage anyway.
