HI first id like to say thanks to all the people who develloped this software for my blackstone its given my old phone a wonderfull lease of life.
I am new to this whole scene so if my question seems a little stupid please let me know.
I have the 2.2 Froyo version installed (I think) and all is working wonderfully apart from the camera but i never use that anyway oh and the ability to change wall paper just reverts the wallpaper back to the origional. but again thats not a problem.
But i have a question. Is it possible to install my apps to my sd card ? i want to try a few apps ive downloaded but im running out of space on my internal memory i would like to install apps to run of my sd like in winmo is this possible?
Any help would be much appreciated
And again thanks for this wonderfull software
Richi
I haven't tried this so don't know if it works on our blackstones, but apparently with 2.2 you can now move installed apps to your SD Card if the app has been written to support that feature. Read more - http://www.androidtapp.com/android-...-sd-card-feature-in-android-2-2-requires-you/
any updates on this? i tried to use the provided solutions but i lost the access to mai blackstone sdcard....
there is this free app on the market. search app 2 SD.
this will show what apps that can be moved to SD card.
Hi sorry for the late reply ive been busy.
I tried App 2 SD and it told me which apps i can move to my sd card, this is good but when you actually try to move the apps it tells me operation failed.
Its not a big problem i just thought it may help in memory use to have apps installed on the memory card like windows mobile.
The data.img is only 256mb and all your app's are stored in that file..If you want to expand the data.img to have more app you either have to do it yourself or modify the rootfs
a link for you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824154
after you install an app go to application management, select the installed application and there will be a button called move to sd

Download AppMonster or Astro from the market. These will allow you to copy apks to your SD card. But note, you can't run apps from your SD card, you can only swap them in and out of memory.

Hi All,
Since moving to the NEW NAND roms i've needed to use MOVE TO SD since space is limited, although every time I try and move to SD, I ALWAYS get "Failed to move application."
I've re-formatted my SD card but no good and I cannot seem to find any other relevant topic on XDA.
Any ideas?
Rob
I used Titanium backup to move my apps to the SD card. There's a batch option that does them all in one go.

first : stop the application then move to sd.
Tried downloading Titanium Backup from market but get unknown error - 18.
Tried stopping the APP first by clicking "Force Close" but still no go...
Download and install apps2sd
If that doesn't work try a different SD to rule out the possibility of your SD being corrupt
Failed to move application on HD2 android
I have recently flashed my HD2 to run android off the SD card. I need move some apps to the SD card in order to enjoy downloading additional apps. I have tried with Titanium BU and it says it moved it but it actually does not. I have also attempted the defaulut method and no luck. I even tried to force moving it by downloading android sdk but since the device is not an android phone the command promt doesnt read it. I am losing hope on this whole android thing since i cant enjoy the app usage. Plz help someone!!!!!
Hi guys, i found an app in the Amarket called Move2SD Enabler! This app change the root of the app and u can move it on sd, even if the app is installed in the phone memory! I'm italian so the app is in italian and i dunno if the app is multilanguage! so i post a guide how to do!
search and download the app!when u open it u have to choose external to move all app on sd! then u choose apply and give the root permissions and then u go to settings and manage apps and move downloaded app on sd.. nad save a lot of internal memory... bye guys! hope this helps u!
Hello !!
Maybe this is not good post for reply to this , but i was thinking about apps running from sdcard , remember, nand is internal memory, so if you put apps on sdcard (external) you should be less better life battery than apps running from Nand, this will access more times to the sdcard and it will remember you time of non-nand roms ...
You decide ! ...i have an usage of sdcard for Photos , videos , downloads, etc etc... maybe i tell true...you should test it ...you will see better battery life i think....

JPhilouxx, for European users, the big concern about NAND is the low internal storage of the phone after installing the NAND BUILD. Sometimes the free memory at the start- without adding any app, just the NAND BUILD as is- is just 180 MB. Taking into account that some apps can not run from SD, like Google Maps, Opera, ADOBE FLASH.... we have serious problem just to use main apps. Always the message of low internal memory appears everytime you are updating google mail or google maps. Even some apps can not just move to SD completely, so we are waiting for any fix to this low internal memory. I have seen that some developers have started to split the IMG into SD although main system is loaded from internal memory.
In the meantime, some apps like our italian colleague is talking about can be a little help.

This is what I recommend.
Root your HD2 Android phone by donwloading z4root.apk.
http://tinyurl.com/32yarv5
Apply and restart phone.
Download and install ModInstallLocation.
http://tinyurl.com/3a2flgc
In Superuser app, allow ModInstallLocation app.
Restart phone.
In ModInstallLocation app choose location 2 (SD Card) and save
Maybe restart can't remember.
From now on any app you download will AUTOMATICALLY be installed on SD card. Also you can move your existing apps from Phone to SD in the Application settings.
BRILLIANT STUFF!

Thank you very much for your tips. Thinking to avoid Titanium Back Up for the moment, as not all app are restored to SD, so it will be better going one by one.

Thank's for this answer , for me i've installed all my apps , i think more 60 apps with low and good sizes as games etc... it run fine and very smooth with cpu clocked to 806mhz, i have tweaked rom via Cyanogenmod in the performance menu and i have a really big difference on speed, when i click on my tasker for end apps i have +300mo free on ram, but really thinking about desire hd roms , i've tested each one and i have this message memory alert with 20apps or 30, depends on size.. my choice is CyanoGenMod Rom's because no really need to install this "Apps2sd" and my battery know it!! i have 25mo free internal memory on my Hd2 with all my apps installed ..soo what else ?! i don't need )
My 8gb sd card have a much free space for all others things ..
sorry if i don't really understand all you message but i see what you want to say!
Thank you Mr Rocheau
But really this will be nice if it's splitted to sd because many desire hd roms will be not very "usable(???)" with low memory , so i prefer return to non nand desire hd builds on sdcard like before ..this will be the same i think for battery life ..maybe not ..all advices are welcome !!! ))
Maybe you should go 'hybrid' and place applications that you use a lot on your internal memory. And apps that you don't use a lot (like games and navigation software for example) on your SD card. This way you will only use extra power when you use these apps.
For the moment I'm waiting on a clean android NAND build. Sense takes up a lot of NAND space..
yes this is true ,before i've installed senses roms , desire hd build, with nand tech' and exactly do the same thing what you say , this is an option , really !
Each of us should test more and more tweaks like that and we'll know how many drain on it with our batteries.. So much more times on our lovely Htc HD2 !!! we need to spend more time on it for find the best hardware configuration for an usual daily rom, i think future is with CyanoGenmod Rom's they are the best for our HD2 and stable for daily use... sorry again i'm french i don't speak english so much..thanks

thanks I m testing it with NAND HD Revolution (superlight edition); already rooted
OK..I've done everything, installed DFT Android ROM for HTC LEO etc...everything seems to be working fine, BUT..((
Most of the apps from Market or any other cannot be moved from Phone memory to SD card, thus consuming all phone memory very fast, and disabling me to install any more apps...and we all know that Android rules just because there are so many apps for it...
So, my question is: is there any possible way of making Android install apps to SD card, rather then phone memory? 'Cause this way, my 16Gig card isn't much of use on Android )
Please help, because there is no point in having Android on this device, if I can install only so many apps on phone memory...
Very thankful in advance....
Greeting from remote Bosnia ))
Which Rom are you using?
I am using Hyperdroid and it allows me to move apps to SD.
And they are working fine.
I'm using Desire ROM...from DFT 2.2 Froyo..
And this one also allows moving apps, but just some, not all.....
Could anyone be as kind as to point me to a ROM with Sense that allows moving all apps to SD card?

The best method would be to create an ext partition for your phone. ALL the apps that would normally installed on the phone will be moved onto this partition on your SDcard, saving you space. However, the trade off is speed. It will be slightly slower, but I don't think you'll even notice the speed difference day-to-day.
You can follow my guide here on how to make an ext partition without losing your data on your SDcard. It should only take like 5min to do. [HOW-TO] Make Ext4 from Recovery Without Losing FAT32 Data
well, there are some apps on the market that allows u to move all the installed apps in the internal memory to the storage card.
Try App 2SD Enabler. When you run the app, be sure to read the instructions.
If that doesnt work, Titanium Backup has a function in it that allows you to move any installed app u want from internal to storage memory (when u open the app, press Menu and then Batch. There should be an option somewhere there)
edit: keep in mind that some apps such as widgets, have to be on the internal memory to work properly. The Ext4 method is good if u want to increase the internal memory (by sacrifasing some storage memory), but you won't be able to connect your phone to the pc via Mass Storage. Plus, if it's the method with the 3 partitions(tbh i don't know if it's just for the 3partition method or any partition number), some of the storage card will be used from the OS as well, making the removal of the SD card impossible.
I would recommend App 2 SD. I use it to move all the apps it can to the SD card and it really does free up a lot of space.
Does Titanium Backup allow all apps to be moved too SD card? Just curious because Apps2SD doesnt move all apps to the SD card just some of them from my experience..
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
The original DFT Desire ROM wasnt rooted correctly so use Z4Root from market then try using apps like Titanium and App2SD etc etc.
As an alternative, if you like sense but without all the bloat and lag try the rom in my signature, its a stripped down version oh DesireHD it flies like **** of stick and has all the best bits of sense
Try a different ROM
The DFT rom was also my first, but the internal memory filled up in no time and made it unusable for me.
In my experience, if you move an app to the SD card, some residual data goes onto the internal memory so you will find that you still use it up. As mentioned above, you will need to put certain apps and all widgets on the internal memory anyway.
I would go for a 'clean' rom that gives you plenty of free memory. You should then have no problem with it filling up. Titanium backup (free from market) is a good app, although Apps2SD (also free) is good as it lets you know how much space you have left.
I settled on the prj rom in my signature as it gives 180Mb free space from install and everything works as it is based on the DFT rom with minimal tweaks. There are plenty of clean roms out there, so try some out.
The best solution really for EU HD2's (512MB) is to use a rom that supports Data2SD as that actually extends your internal memory to the partition on SD card so you have say 1GB of internal memory, this is much better then any other current methods as its much more compatible with apps.
Also, dont mess about with Gpartid or other partition apps, You can use CWR to do it, just partition 1GB and then choose 0 for swap. (unless told otherwise by dev).
Thanks everyone, really...
I did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931126
Partitioned the card during setup and now I have 1Gig, which is OK..also the ROM is really stable and fast.... Try this, I'm quite happy, it works great and it is an upgraded version of DFT Desire ROM... Cheers!!!
After flashing a new rom I can't move apps to my sd card. I have about 11 gb free and it says I don't have enough space. Please help I've looked everywhere and tried all kinds of apps. This is really annoying since I can't even install a facebook or youtube app because I don't have the space. I tried to set the default app saving place to the SD card with the terminal emulator but that didn't help at all. my phone is a motorola defy.
Thank you in advance.
