Have I bricked my MDA? Please help!! - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Was trying to upgrade to the most recent T-mobile ROM, but it all seems to have gine horribly wrong!!!
Bought SPB backup earlier. Was feeling brave, so was gonna upgade rom and try and cook my own external ROM........... but now.....
Will not boot at all now, and a hard reset gives you the option to resttore factory settings, but then reverts to "loader" screen.........
Any help would REALLy be appreciated

I had exactly the same problem earlier today.
Unfortunately I can't remember the thread title for the solution but you will need to do a search for MDA and bootloader - then look for a thread that lets you download mtty and gives instructions involving typing set 14 0 in mtty - it should recover it fine.

SORTED!
Thanks for your help numanoids - greatly appreciated! 8)
Let the cooking commence!

N00b Needs help please! RSU upgrade issues...

Hello All!
I just got an XDA that has the oldest version of all three components. I was browsing the rom cooker last night and also found a RSU for 4.21 that i thought i could install (activesync install exe)... Oh boy what a mistake!
So now, after the "programme B" update that was in dutch was completed, i got a continuous pop-up in dutch that came up and stayed on every boot. I managed to remove the items from startup and i dont have that problem any more, but my radio does not work at all, and i cannot connect to active-sync to go back or try another RSU!!! It just seems that the usb on the device is messed up, as the PC tries to connect when i cradle it.
I believe my problem is that i did not use programme A first? i only discovered that program after screwing up the wallaby...
I am on my way to buy an SD card now to aid in the disaster recovery. In the meantime, if anyone would be so kind as to reply with a suggestion for fixing it, and how to properly update the components, i would Greatly appreciate it!
Thanks in advance, and i love the forum! Look foward to spending lots of time here
OK, so i found the GSM error thread and followed the instructions, but when trying to upgrade the RSU, i get the error: "Upgrade Failed! hit ok to reset device"
Any suggestions?

How have you fixed it?
Maybe we can update the instructions....
Stefan
I followed the instructions here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_GSMError
The only difference is that i did not copy to the startup folder and ran the update manually from the windows directory. Allowing the upgrade to run on startup always caused a problem like you described

Serious problem after unlocking. Help kindly requested

After discovering this great forum, I decided to try the Lokiwiz unlock tool on my (Dutch) MDA Vario, since so many have had success with it.
I diligently followed the procedure outlined in several posts, but when I booted my Vario it failed to read my SIM.
I get the following message: unknown status of SIM-card.
Subsequently it crashes. How do I begin to fix this?
Some info:
IPC 1.06
SPL 1.06
GSM 01.12.10
OS 1.6.2.2
I would greatly appreciate any help or pointers
Hows about...
1. Hard reset
2. Redo lokiwiz again, and again reading everything twice just in case something got missed.
3. Hard reset
4. ??Flashing ROM
I am no guru but wanted to offer what I would do.
Joe
Thank you very much for the reply, John
I did steps 1 to 3, but unfortunately it seems that I have to go to step 4.
How do I go about flashing the ROM? I did do a search on this forum, but I was a bit befuddled by all the different ROM's and its subsequent discussions.
Before you go ahead, I would read up on this forum. I don't know if this is the right thing to do next, but please don't do it because I said I would do this to my device should it happen to me.

Can any experts offer some advice here?

Flash-help needed

Hi there guys,
i have i question/problem. Yesterday i wanted to flash my cruise with the dutch M-Amine-rom. I,ve done some flashes with my old wizard somewere like a year ago. Now I did read the polaris/cruise-wike, did succesfully install hardspl. I made an activesync-connection and brought my cruise in bootloader-mode. The problem (for me though) was that when te cruise comes in bootloader mode there was no more activesync-connection, there seems to be an usb-connection because in the tree-collored screen you can see 'usb'. My problem is that de second RUU-screen makes you clear that there has to be an active-sync-connection before you can flash/update your rom. So i didn't flash because i was affraid to brick my phone. Maybe it's normal and maybe the RUU will make the connection when running but i cant find the answer to that question. Can somebody help me? Is it normal that there's no active-sync-connection in bootloader-mode? Will the RUU make the connection and flash the device anyway?
Second strange thing: i secondly decided to flash with my sd instead according the discribed procedure. I ended up with an os with the number 1.28.00.00!!! So just an older version of wm6!!?? Afterwards I flashed back the official rom (3.13...) without being in bootloader but with an activesync connection because i thought with the official one you don't have to be in bootloader. Is this a right thought?? Anyway, I succeeded to replace original rom.
Sweat on the forehead!
Thanks in advance for great help.
Greetz!
Should I remove this tread after getting an answer?
Relax Ron - you have nothing to fear
The behaviour you describe in bootloader mode is normal - no need for activesync. You can click OK and away you'll go!
As for flashing from your sd card, only thing I can think of is that you somehow renamed an old nbh file, rather than the M-Amine nbh you were trying to flash.
I've used both methods (the sd card way has got me out of trouble a couple of times) and they both work fine.
Good luck!

Thanks for quick reply. I'll try to flash this day. In fact i'm quit sure it was the right nbh-file, so that part of the problem still remains a mystery. You're a great help, Thank you.

Thanks, i know that tread. I've spend lots of ours reading and searching before flashing because i want to prepare myself. I don't want to be some idiot that starts flashing before he knows what he is doing you know.
By the way. I downloaded the rom again to be really sure i have the right file.
Again thanks for your help!
Yeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I succeeded!
Thanks to you all! Long live xda!

BA wm6.1 no longer bootup aka white screen & stuck bootloader

I have read the wiki, did a search on this forum on white screen, stuck on bootloader and tried the following...
- reflashing the same rom wm6.1
- normal reset will stuck at 4 colors bootloader.
- hard reset with NO, YES, YES option will stuck at white screen.
- downgraded to wm2003
- downgrade success but still stuck at bootloader
Is there anything else I can try!
try flashing using mtty. (google it)

Tried mtty method, doesn't help either.
Thanks anyway!
I have read all the thread relating to "white screen", "stuck at bootup", "hard reset" with the option No/Yes/Yes every after flashing. this never fails".
Guess my BA is as good as gone!
Strange that I can still flash the BA with various rom from stock to wm6x as well as all version of the radio.
With 2003se, I get stuck at bootup with the O2 logo.
With WM6x, I get stuck on bootup.
When I do a hard reset" with the option No/Yes/Yes, I get a white screen.
This has gotto be the PITA mother of all BA problems.
There is something else that you could try. I remember not too long ago, I saw a method for unbricking Wizards (I nearly did with my wife's old phone) and it said something about doing something via mtty. This was not flashing the rom, but rather something else. +Que PPC might know what I am talking about. In fact, I believe that I saw that method in his signature. PM him and ask him. I will try to find out what I did and I will reply to this (if I can find it )
Edit: Try this
There are a couple of other threads in the Wizard section, so take a look over there and look for something that is not exactly flashing, but that deals with mtty. Alternatively, you could try to pm xplode regarding your problem. I haven't seen him around lately, but he will show up eventually.
Thanks for your reply and links. I did try that but it didn't work.
Anyone who has a ROM dumped of an original O2IIs to SD card?
you should be good by mtty method, search the board for stuck in bootloader
if ot does not help your bootloader is corrupted

Are you referring to the
set 14 0
task 28
task 28 55aa
method? I have tried all these.
Any fix for bootloader?
Thanks Xplode!
hello world!
hi there...
where did you get your wm2003se downgrade??
wm6.5 on my BA is quite slow...
you can probably find the firmware at your carrier's site, or you have a look in -=xplode's firmware archive=- and look for your original firmware there.
