How to set up Push email - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hey every1
can someone please explain how to set up Push Email.
Is they a seperate software to set up if so where is it I cannot find it on my Qtek 9000.
Please can someone explain it to me.
Thank You
Gigino

I dont really have or know what Push Email is versus what I have done below, But here is what I have done.
I went to my inbox (for messages) from the Desktop of the XDA
Then in the bottom right go to "MENU" then to "TOOLS" then to "OPTIONS" then click on "NEW ACCOUNT" then
Enter your email address ex: [email protected] - then click "NEXT"
Enter your name, user name, password, and check the "remember" box then click "NEXT"
Then select "POP3" or whatever your mail is. and Name is "Work" or "POP3" etc... then click "NEXT"
then enter your incoming mail - "mail.doe.com" (whatever yours is)
then enter your outgoing mail - "mail.doe.com" (whatever yours is)
then enter the domain - "www.doe.com" (whatever yours is)
then click on "OPTIONS" now you can check the "connect for messages every...." box - you can put any amount of minutes you want in here and it will automatically check for messages every "XX" minutes.
I KNOW this is not "PUSH EMAIL" but it works for me as I do not know what program i would need for push email. (Yes I have searched this site and others)
I have the latest Tmobile NL rom. I am in the USA and have Tmobile. I also pay for the Total Internet so it connects at GPRS through wap.voicestream.com

Push email is part of ActiveSync - and it requires Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2 on the server side.
If you have Small Business Server 2003 the following doc is a good place to start for getting it configured.

E-Mail settings on T-Mobil

Please , can you tell me , step by step , how to set POP and SMTP
settings on T-Mobil Pocket PC Phone .
:?: :?: :?:
From Inbox, services/new service. Enter your full address. Hit next, it will try autoconfig and probably fail, hit next. Enter your real name. Enter mail username just like in your desktop software. Enter password. Tap next. Select service type, POP or IMAP. Give the connection a name (whatever you want to call it). Next. Enter the name of the servers for incoming and outgoing. Incoming is your POP/IMAP server name, typically mail.domain. Outgoing can be the T-Mobile server (myemail.t-mobile.com), or your own if it allows authentication for SMTP. If authenticating SMTP, tap the options button and turn on the authentication checkbox. The rest of the settings are your own preference.

Xda2 Newbie

Hi
I hope you don't think me too much of a plank but I've recently bought an Xda2 and am confused as to the best method of getting my email's.
<sigh> not another idiot I hear you say but as far as mobile anything's are concerned I'm a dummy!
I don't want to dial into my ISP every time so if any of you 'Patient' people can help me set up my Xda, I would be most grateful.
Best Regards
Ian G
It's quite easy providing you have a bit of information about your ISP.
Open your inbox - doesn't matter which one, active sync or SMS.
Use the Accounts -> accounts... menu option to open your accounts
Add a new one with the new button.
First settings page: Enter your email address
It'll now try and auto-configure your email settings. I have never known this to work, so hit the skip button.
On the next screen, enter your name as you want it seen, and your ISP's username and password (check the save password too).
I presume this is a regular POP3 account, so leave POP3 selected on the next page, and give it a name - this will eventually appear as a new set of inbox/sent items/outbox/drafts once you've finished configuring things.
Next page, enter your ISP's incoming mail server address, probably [email protected] or [email protected].
For outgoing mail - and I'm presuming you're with o2 here, use smtp.o2.co.uk. Outgoing mail servers usually only allow people to send mail when they are logged on, so your ISP's outgoing mail server will not allow you to send mail if you're connected via o2 gprs. To send mail via the usual GPRS connection, this must be o2's mail server. Leave the domain blank.
Click the options button and on the options page select whether you want to check for mail periodically (Note, due to a crap design decision at microsoft, only the set of email folders that was most recently viewed is synchronised). Select "The Internet" as the connection (presuming you want to use GPRS or Internet passthrough, and you haven't change the default O2 connections).
On the next options page, leave each checkbox blank, and on the final page you can opt to receive whole messages or just the header + a certain amount of included message body.
Once you click finish, things should start working, and you should be able to select the new ISP's inbox, write messages, and send them with the icon at the bottom of the screen.
Let us know if you get into any problems.
Much obliged to you A.C
I will give it a go thanks for your patience!
Best Regards
Ian G
Set that up ok A.C
Now I get "Unable to connect: you have no modem entries created and no network card present"
What do I do now A.C - bearing in mind that I haven't entered anything into the Xda2 yet, only got it this afternoon!
Thank you
Ian G
PS - I would want to connect GPRS (I Think) <embarrased smile>
If you dont have any modem connections in settings/connections/manage existing connections, you will have to create one, tab new give it a name, chose celllular line gprs, tab next , acesspoint name! dont know about UK settings but here its: internet, tab next , well dont know what to use in your network, here we dont need to fill in anything, tab finish..Now if you then tab and hold you new connection there comes a pop up menu:delete / connect chose connect and if your settings are correct youll see ( after a info pop up) two arrows at your signal strengh indicator, and you are connected...to disconnect hold down your hang up button..using your inbox, send or recieve should start up your gprs connection automaticly..
Dont know if was any help, but anyway, good luck.

Exchange 2010 Push Mail W/ Outlook Anywhere,Alias's, POP Forwarding, NOW w/ POP3/IMAP

I just need everyone to re-send me all their information in THE BELOW FORMAT:
First Name:
Last Name or Initial:
E-Mail address requested: [email protected]ztek.com
Alias: [email protected]
Password:
For those of you from now on, I will require a $5 monthly donation to setup an account (this will be done through a subscription and paypal). I feel this is a fair amount for whoever wishes to donate. I will keep the old link for those that wish to donate above what I already ask for.
It will include an alias and Outlook anywhere access (use Outlook with this account). With each account you can have an alias setup so that your recipents see your email address as anything you like! Also, for an extra $5 per account I can automatically forward your pop3 or IMAP e-mail to your new exchange account.
Go to http://zteknology.com/paypal.html to make your donation. Make sure to use the subscription link.
The Outlook Web Address is now https://mail.getztek.com/owa/.
So if you like the service and feel that you can contribute, please send paypal payments to [email protected]. Anything helps, even if it is just $1.
If you do not know what Exchange 2010 is or offers, please google it before making any decisions about e-mailing me.
Also, please give me at least 24 hours to set up your accounts once I receive your information. Usually it will be far less than 24 hours. Thanks.
MOST IMPORTANT: do NOT e-mail me directly. All communications about Exchange 2010 must go through PM. If I receive an e-mail I will simply ignore it. This is done to simplify everything. When I have to spend extra time to figure out if you e-mailed me or PMed me, it just slows me down and e-mail's are easier to lose. Thanks for your cooperation.
Here's the setup info...I feel it's pretty thorough, but if anyone wants to add anything just let me know.
Setup on Outlook 2003/2007:

Can I be the first to say thankyou to Denial for this service! Just re setting up all my stuff, but from what I've seen of the new OWA it looks really good!
Thanks!
EDIT: Can you please turn off enforcing security policies on mobile devices (eg PDA's). I don't want to need to have a password when I switch on my phone everytime.
Exchange all set up
I got exchange up and running smoothly. It seems to be working awesome... Will post more over the next few days as I use it!!! Thank you so much!

I turned off the security policy. Just soft-reset your device and then turn the lock off. Isn't the new OWA awesome!?!?

Thanks for that! No more fumbling around trying to remember what I put as a password. And yeah, the new OWA seems really good! I'm actually thinking about ditching Outlook later on and just using the web interface.

I plan on the service being around for a long time seeing as how I use it myself. At some point I might have to close registrations if I run out of accounts I can give out., but the service should keep on tickin'.
Trying to setup my mailbox again after the upgrade, but it seems the exchange server doesn't support connections using entourage 2004 (mac outlook) anymore?

I just forward one of my pop3 e-mail accounts to my exchange account. I'm not sure if this is what you are asking. There is no way for the Exchange server to automatically download pop3 mails from, say gmail. You have to forward those e-mail's.

Actually, there are third party connectors you can use, such as POPcon, to pull POP3 and IMAP email. Apparently you can also use Fetchmail to accomplish the same thing. I'm attempting to set that up right now for myself.

sending email issue

Hi guys,
Im having a frustrating time trying to get my outlook to send email. I can receive just fine.
Just a note, my computer sends/receives fine and i use the same settings on computer and phone. I never user activsync because ive never been able to get the linux version to work for me.
My server requires authentication however i get this error when i try to send: "The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage
and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again."
If i uncheck the option for authentication, the email bounces as it should saying relay is not allowed.
Im using the same settings as my computer, but I just dont see whats wrong. Im a linux user and built my webserver so i feel like i should be able to figure this out which leads me to thing outlook sucks lol
Any suggestions to try?
James
In 'Edit Server Settings' where it has your User name, Password, and Domain how do you have that set up? when i first did mine i set it up with all three, but it didn't work, and what worked for me was setting the username to be [email protected] leaving the Domain field blank -- so that is something to look into, and if it is different maybe try setting it up the other way just putting your email as the username and the domain in the domain field.
How do i find 'Edit Server Settings'?
In my inbox, i click the Menu button bottom right, click tools and options. then i click on the email account i created, which sends me through all the email settings in the following order.
Note: i never used Outlook email as it never let me specify pop or imap so i added New Account.
Email address -- [email protected]
Your name - james
Account display name -- greyed out
incoming server name lwp.ca
account type -- greyed out (its set to imap)
username -- [email protected]
password
outgoing smtp server: lwp.ca
requires authentication checked
use same user name and password for sending mails checked
Automatic send/receive -- set to manual
download messages set to from the past 30 days
message format : html
message download limit: headers only
download attachments: do not download
I am having the same problem with Alltel PPC6800 and I found out (by tethering with my PC) that some of their IP addresses are listed with Spamhaus.
If I keep trying it will eventually go through when the IP Address switches to one not listed.
Hope it helps?

Ive never tried tethering.. Ive been using the built in wifi or the data service with no luck.. I think its a crippled outlook issue..
Does anyone have suggestions for a free mail client that uses IMAP? If only thunderbird could be used

sorry when you said you use outlook to send i assumed you were using an exchange server -- since you are using IMAP what i said is irrelevant.
When you are at the point where it asks for the outgoing SMTP server, there is a link to 'Advanced Server Settings' at the bottom of the screen. clicking on that will allow you to require SSL for incoming and outgoing -- that would be my only other guess.
but i do find it strange that your incoming and outgoing mail servers are the same and not IMAP.lwp.com and SMTP.lwp.com or something similar.

That's the page I'm in. Message in inbox can be highlighted but it will not open for me...
EDIT: meant to add this works fine for IE just not in Opera.
same problem here. I get logged on but can't click on the inbox. Does someone know the solution for Opera? (except IE).
i have the same annoying problem!
but then again, will stick back to IE for hotmails..
same here. I can't even log on or register my details through the touch flo tab. is there an apple rights type thing going on here?
Have you guys tried to open in another tab??
Grtz,
Degake
ive tried setting hotmail up throught tf3d and it allows the username and password, then it says settings found, please click next to continue, but as i do, it take me to mobile.live.com rather than the next step??
anyone know whats going wrong?
I had the same problem, so I did a back up, and a hard reset, to wipe everything, and when I came to set up my email hotmail account, it works just fine now.. I get the messages as they arrive..
so after the reset you were able to continue the registration and settings without it directing you to windows live page?
unless you enter an alternative email provider it won't let me enter settings manually
Yes. First I had the emails downloading to my phone, and showing in the inbox.. Then for some reason, I messed it up and tried to re set up an account, and every time I was being directed online to Windows live page..
I did a hard reset, not a soft reset.. It tells you how to do it on the HTC support page. That wipes everything off the phone, so make sure you back up any information or programs you want.
After I reset the phone , I tried my hotmail account again, and it works fine..
ok thanks very much. been reluctant to do the hard reset as its taken forever to customize and tweak to my liking. and that's just the shortcut menus.
here goes...
Hope it works for you like it did me..
and I kinda enjoyed tweaking mine and getting it set up again.
Good luck. let me know how it goes.
ive only just done a hard reset because i could install Framework 3.5, it there any other way to setup hotmail again, registry edit maybe?
also how do you get them delivered straight to your phone, a friend of mine who also has a HD says you have to manually sync.
did you guys know that you can set up hotmail into your mail tab now yeah?
to set it up, go to the mail tab > Menu > Accounts > New Account
when asked to enter your email address, enter your hotmail address, but with an error after the "@" sign. for example, if my email addy was "[email protected]", i would enter it as "[email protected]" (notice there is no "l" in "hotmail.com"). Enter your hotmail log-in password here as well.
Insert your name as you would like to appear on outgoing messages, and an account display name to show for your own navigation (mines is simply called "Hotmail", since i only use one hotmail account).
For the incoming mail server: pop3.live.com
Account type POP3
your username will be your hotmail email address (the correct version this time), and your normal password, as you would enter on the hotmail login page.
For outgoing mail: smtp.live.com
tweak other/advanced settings to your liking (and data plan - orange UK data plans suck).
Once you've set your account up, click on Start (top left corner) > Messaging > [your hotmail account] > Edit Account Setup. Now correct your emaill address that you originally inserted incorrectly, and continue pressing next till you get to the end.
Now your hotmail should be working fine.. no need to use opera at all

hi. I followed this advice from another thread which I can't find now.
but after I do all that and I go to Menu > Send Receive, there is an error in syncing and have to check my connection settings.
where am I going wrong?
in the process of backing up atm..
if your trying to do send/receive through TF3d, you can try doing send/receive through windows itself (i.e. go to start > messaging > hotmail > menu > send/receive)
see if that works. if it works fine, then automatic updates should work fine as well. I also get an error sometimes while trying to update via TF3D (only on hotmail), but it works fine if i do an update through windows.
phew! thanks for all suggestions so far. managed to set up using wifi. works perfectly.
problem is.. it only works with wifi.
when I attempt to send/receive through my t mobile connection it says I have to check my service provider etc. which I'll probably do tomoz
