Wlan Print driver for XDAII?

Hi all forumers. I've been looking high and low in this site for information regarding print drivers for XDAII over WLAN.
Are there any kind soul whom can direct me to the link?
Thanks
hhmmm a print driver should be the same if the printer is connected to a usb port or parallel or over the network
on pc's
so i think it's not as much wlan printer drivers you are looking for
but just pocketpc printer drivers
and if the maker of the printer dont have any drivers for pocketpc
then there may not be drivers at all
I've tried printeron but figured that it shouldn't work that way on a small office network. Its like making a big loop to get things done and morever, you're charged for every print which doesn't make sense. Not forgeting security issues.
What I need here is to hook up with pocket lan and print over the network thru a active pc. There is no print function on the pocket Word nor Excel.
Any ideas?
well i suppose you could print from the pc using the terminal services client
Here is a link to the HP Pocket PC Mobile Printing software. If it is an HP printer and has an IP address it should work.

Thanks!
Thanks danielalvers & henny. Will try it now. Still in the process for d/l.
How?
Henny,
How do I do it as per your suggestion? Can you give alittle breakdown on it as I am quite new in this? :?:
Thanks again. Re-installing it helps.

accessing LAN from PPC with activesync

Hallo,
I've searched for a long time in the forum and in Internet but I was not able to find how to access a shared folder on my  LAN. It seems I have to use pass-through connections but I'm not able to make it work. Every time I use pocket file explorer to open a shared folder (writing the complete UNC) I receive the message "the network path was not found" and then "network resource cannot be found .....".
My LAN is a 192.168.1.X network and I've seen that IP assigned to the PPC is 192.168.55.101
Thank for every help.
Rudy
I'm not sure.
But have you tried localhost????
HTH
Stefan
I've tried from pocket file explorer both \\localhost and \\127.0.0.1 but I've received always the same messages.

Tryed Pocket LAN yet?
It works
I have been trying to do this for months and pocket Lan works perfectly
There is a freeware network utility, named vxUtil.
Maybe this tool help you to solve the problem.
Utilities include:
DNS Audit
DNS Lookup
Finger
Get HTML
Info
IP Subnet Calculator
Password Generator
Ping
Ping Sweep
Port Scanner
Quote
Time Service
Trace Route
Wake On LAN
Whois
vxUtil (Personal) operates on all Windows CE-based Handheld, Handheld Pro, Palm-size and Pocket PCs and requires Windows CE 2.0 (or later).
http://www.cam.com/vxutil_pers.html
I've truid both pocket lan and vxUtil with no results. I can't ping the laptop. I think I could never ping it if the network segment of PPC and laptop are different. Laptop ip now is 10.0.0.8 and PPC always 192.168.55.101. Perhaps I should enabled a proxy on the PPC to route the ping.
rudy
do you have a personal firewall installed on laptop? try to disable and check
I have no firewall installed or active.
I was successfull in accessing the LAN using the software "pocket LAN CE", but this is obvious thus it installs a server software that stays resident in the tray bar of the deskop PC.
There must be a solution to access the LAN using only active sync!
As far as I know that's not possible without a LAN card.
The passthrough which is available via activesync works only for internet connections.
I might be wrong. Keep looking. Have done it for a long time an gave it up.
If you find a solution feel free to share at this forum.
Success
How about LAN over Bluetooth?
LAN over bluetooth
And how do we accomplish this with the XDA II while the XDA II has no profile for LAN over bluetooth.
Please share the info you've.
Because this is interesting to me too!
For me too I'm also trying bluetooth over XDA but aint working yet
:?
I have installed bluetoothGPS.zip file (found in this forum) and then I installed the Bluesoleil Bluetooth Software for the PC (evaluation version). I could get an IP for the PPC and see the LAN but Internet wasn't working. Anyway having the two Bluetooth Stacks at the same time on the PPC is not a good alternative...
So please:
-MS give us some more Bluetooth Profiles, cm on, you can doit!
- Tobias and Pocket Bluetooth Tools: Please finish the LAN profile, I already donated you
Cheers
Make sure that a "guest" account is enable on your server, and try protocals other than tcp/ip. Ipx/Spx is fair. I suppose I should ask first if the activesinc laptop is able to browse the target folder? If it can, then try mapping the share as a network drive on the laptop, and see if you can nav to it using activesinc??? I'm a newbie, and don't even have my MDA I yet (in about 2 hours, I will). I will definantly be trying lots of unorthodox crap, so I'll let you know if I get it to work! Good luck.

Access Your Home Computer From Your PDA.

hi there......
was just surfing the net and found out this software www.logmein.com all you need to do is register over here and download a software on the pc you wanna access and just install it.....after the installation is complete u can either access your computer from a pda from ne where or you can access it from ne other computer......
Conditions Apply :
the computer you wanna access shud be turned on and logmein software shud be running.
the computer you wanna access shud be connected to the internet.
this is how you can connect to your computer from your pda.
is this safe?
I used to use https://www.gotomypc.com/ a couple of years ago with my original XDA when I was away from the office. It did the job, but it's a bit tedius on a small screen. If you logged in from another PC it was great and I used it daily.
safe as eva it can get becaz u cannot do ne **** if u dun haf the admin username and password for tht windows machine(homepc)
You just have to trust the software.
I don't know these companies, and I'm sure they are all legit. But a bad one could simply send the ip-address, userid and password to a logging machine.
I wonder how do these programs compare to the latest version of PC Anywhere? I think PCAnywhere has a client for the Pocket PC and the plus is that you don't need to pay monthly subscription and that your data is totally safe as it's being tunneled directly to you bypassing any server. Plus Norton seem to have more resources than small companies. I also wonder how does this compare to Terminal Server Client.. Anyone?
yeah i did hear bout pcanywhere neva used it......but i heard tht its good n very stable software.....dunno whether its for free or u need to purchase it n stuff....n as far as pcanywhere hafin a client for ppc tht must be something good n worth looookin at !!
Remote Control
pcAnywhere is not free, but it does work well. You should look at VNC or RealVNC. It's free, and there is a client included in the SE ROM. There is some tweaking necessary for your firewall (if you're running one). I think the ports are tcp/udp on 5800 and 5900, but you should check the included documentation. Both client and server software can be found here: http://realvnc.com/
Terminal services is probably the best over narrow bandwidths like GPRS since it only sends the windows drawing commands to redraw the screen but you need either XP Pro or Windows server to run the server version of the program. I use VNC because I only have Win2k on my laptop - it's slow with screen updates.
VNC for 2003SE/Intel PXA: WHERE to download it??
Regarding VNC client for Qtek 9090, I miss something
(maybe because it is friday and I am getting tired) :? .
Where is it possible to find a VNC client for Qtek 9090?
If I understand well, to run it on a Qtek it has to be:
- either a Win Mobile 2003SE for Intel PXA program, or
- a Java program
Is that true?
And if it is, where can I find one, I don't find anything similar
on the http://www.realvnc.com/download.html .
Thanks,
Anton
any windows CE program will run
on xda's
there are many versions well 3 that i've seen of vnc clients for
windows ce / pda's with pocketpc now windows mobile on them
I did a google search, here's a link:
http://www.pocketpccity.com/software/pocketpc/VNC-Viewer-for-PocketPC-2001-1-2-ce-pocketpc.html
If you are running a v4 VNC server make sure it's in v3 compatibility mode since there is only a v3 PPC client available
Mark, thanks for pointing me to a link with a VNC client!
>any windows CE program will run
>on XDA's
Rudegar, regarding the HW platform, I still think that you have to
have a version compiled for your HW.
:!: However, in the meantime I found the answer at Intel's page
ftp://download.intel.com/design/pca/prodbref/251671-002.pdf
-->
Qtek 9090s (XDAs, and similar) have the PXA263 processor that is based
on Intel XScale technology, and these have the ARM* v.5TE ISA
compliant instruction set.
So a program for ARM will be the right one.

Testing TCP Server on Pocket pc through ActiveSync USB

Hi all,
is there anybody who can tell me how i can test my pocket pc application which is a simple webserver, through activesync??
i can get it's IP address (192.168.55.101) but i can't reach it from my workstation, also i have no idea how to change it.
when connect through GPRS all works fine , simply would like to test it from my workstation.
After some research i noticed that it is a pass-through connection and that it uses TCP to do this.
anybody an idea on how to use it so that i can use my workstations IE to show the pocket pc's page on the little webserver i wrote.
greetz,
Marc
+1
i have the same problem. if you find a solution please contact me by email at adrien dot joly at gmail dot com!
Folks, please do follow my articles. I've published several articles on the networking model of ActiveSync, particularly under WM5.
See http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=555&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
Under WM5 / WM6, as long as you don't disable the new AS networking model (it's enabled by default), your IP is 169.254.2.1

Remote desktop control with Diamond 2

Hi Guys,
After wasting a complete day on all of the different vnc and rdp programmes, trying to control my desktop computer THROUGH the internet WITH my pocket pc (HTC Diamond 2) I thought i'd just ask:
I won't get it to work, and I can't help but think that it's just a lame little thing I've forgotten. Nothing will connect. Logmein and other server services show me nothing. Logmein in particular only shows me a white screen when I try to login to my computer, nothing else...reloading the page doesn't help. The external desktop controller that came with my phone won't connect, due to reasons (the computer is not on for instance) I'm sure are not true.
I have a HTC diamond 2 pocket pc running WM6.1 and network compact frame (latest update) installed (3.5 I think it was.)
My computer runs vista 32bits and I've tried numerous servers and clients but nothing seems to work...
Just a few hours ago I though it might be the fact that my ip ain't static. So I've made a static IP using the portforward.com description for my thomson speedtouch 780 router modem. Tried everything again. nothing...
the only thing I can think of is that my proxy is screwing up all my attempts to connect my two most precious devices through the internet...but shouldn't logmein have passed those settings? (i remember pressing the "don't block" button when windows firewall asked me)
Top of that I've googled my *ss of searching for different kinds of clients, software, programmes and others, usualy being redirected to this forum. I even tried the bible thread about networking and everything, though my mind refused to read the whole thing extremely thoroughly...
To make my request and question very clear:
I want a program that can remotely access my desktop pc through my diamond 2 ppc, mainly for accesing and downloading files and folders I might need for school. Ofcourse full control for audio (so I can start music from my living room) would be nice, but it's not mandatory...
I'm running wm6.1 and have jbed installed on my ppc, and running windows vista 32bits on my desktop computer. I have a static IP and a port setup through my router modem on port 1986.
I've been searching for almost 20 hours with 1 lunchbreak in between....can anyone help me to an easy solution (including a step to step guide)?
thx in advance...
oh yeah, I think i've enabled the "Let other users control my pc" button in the external dekstop control options for vista, but most of the guides and FAQ's say there's another button. -one saying "let other people help me solve issues with my computer by controlling my desktop"
-one saying "let other people connect to my computer, doing whatever the hell they want" (not the actual sentence btw )
vista only shows me the first one, and I have it checked.....
Noone knows anything about this?
I'm also trying to look for a rdp server for vista, but for now it seems non-existent...tried ultravnc, and allthough it works when my diamond2 is connected through USB, as soon as I disconnect my ppc from the PC, it freezes. I did a reboot and tried without usb connected.....nothing....couldnt connect.
the only vnc viewer working on my ppc right now is the one from mocha or mochia.....but it's a trial version. other viewers won't work....
anyone?
LogMeIn with Diamond2 - problem
Hi, I used to be able to use LogMeIn in my old PDA running on WM5. But now after i've gotten HTC Diamond2, I'm unable use my remote access software anymore...
I've gotten my friend to try using his HTC Touch HD and it work too for LogMeIn.
A quick check reveal that our IE could be slightly different version.
Did you have any solution yet?
"Vista 32 bits" is unfortunately not very descriptive. What version is it? Not all versions include Terminal Services.
By static ip, do you mean that your external interface IP is static or that the IP your PC might have on an internal network is static? There's a HUGE difference!
You need port 3389 forwarded to your PC from your router. Enter your external IP address in the RDP client and it will get forwarded properly. Hell, I've got 3389 forwarded to a VM I'm running on my PC and it works great.
Diamond 2 can use LogMeIn
Finally got my HTC Touch Diamond 2 (Topaz) to use LogMeIn. My friend who uses Touch HD and can use LogMeIn easily...
I guess the IE in Diamond 2 is not Pocket IE (PIE).
Procedure:
1) I use this software to toggle IE6 to PIE.
http://discussion.treocentral.com/treo-pro/177752-toggle-between-pie-ie6-free-app-cab-file.html
2) Login to LogMeIn PDA
https://secure.logmein.com/pda
3) Follow normal LogMeIn procedures...
Happy LogMeIn!!!
I use Logmein's Hamachi (that is a VPN software) that give me a direct p2p connection between my HTC fuze any my computer. Then i use remote desktop and use the ip hamachi provides and it work excellent.
PS you need at add you PPC hamachi ip in you firewall
vnc is what I would use it's a good general solution to connect
anything with anything mac, linux , windows you name it and it's free
