I was using SPB Pocket Plus 3 on my MDA Compact, very handy tool as it allowed me to have have the icon launchers and the abilty to see the battery meter and also the close all option. Only bad this is it really drained the battery.
I have an M500 and was wondering if there is an alternative out there that didn't drain the battery so much. Or is there a way i can run it to save battery power.
Cheers

I am using an XDA Mini, and My battery does not run down. I'm not sure what version of SPB Plus I'm using, but I got it about 4 months ago.

I also use SpB Pocket Plus 3 but i have no problems with Battery drain. Anyway, to answer your question.
Resco Explorer 2005 and iLauncher(v2.2) support Meters on the Today Screen, similar to those in SpB Pocket Plus.
Hi I use TrayLaunch (cut from PHM Powertoys) for shortcuts on the today screen (well taskbar but it’s the same thing) and a program called powerstatus which shows a thin green bar (power) top left of the screen and also a red bar (RAM) top right of the screen.
As for an app to close the programs rather then simply minimising, I did some testing on my Mini and found that it would only allow a maximum of 6 to remain “minimised” in RAM. If you opened a 7th app it would automatically shut down the first app opened and so on. I only lost about 2-3Mb of RAM (I have 25Mb available) leaving the 6 apps running in RAM and had no significant time issues. If I want to close all programs for whatever reason I just use the O2 “Running Programs” app and close them all together.
So i have scrapped the close program idea altogether.

I've used all the versions of PP on my Xda II and have not seen any evidence of bettery drain. Why do you blame PP? I've not heard anyone else blame PP for battery drain either.
Could it not be a combination of PP and some other software on your device. You should hard reset than load just PP and check, then add each other app. one at a time and see when the problem reoccurs, that would indicate the combination which causes the problem
Try this.

The thing is I actually quite like SPB but since i installed version 3 and WisBar Advanced, my battery just drained like mad.
I haven't installed Wisbar on the new phone and i'm sceptical of putting Pocket plus on the phone as i don't want to be down to 20% battery power at lunch time when i had 100% in the morning. It wasn't the battery either as i swapped it with my mates battery and the same thing was happening.
Is there a way of monitoring what is using the most amount of battery power.
I run Mortsaver, anyone heard of any issues with it.
For me works on PP. I don't think that your problem it's PP.

i am using both of it. Cause P+ has this nice tabbed menus and wizbar the fancy taskbars... cant notice any battery drainage so far?!
I use resco explorer 2005 (5.22) for today plugin (meters and shortcuts) and MagicButton for closing application, tasks managing and to have a little nice battery indicator on the top (between the time and the Ok/X button).
Hope this helps.
PS: i quit using PP 'cos i had the impression it was slowing my magician down (maybe it was just an impression). Actually, resco today plugin requires less ram to run than PP (see this link)
Bye bye,
Isidoro
The battery drain comes from MortSaver. There is an option "turn off device on activation" which, who would have thought, turns off the device instead of only the screen. This, who would have thought, also reduces the battery drain dramatically. Pocket Plus isn't causing battery drain nor significant performance decrease on my Magician.
Anyone experiencing unexplainable battery drain on their Atom Lifes? I recently did a hard reset then re-installed the following apps:
Pocket Informant 8
Pocket Plus 4
Hikeyboard
Phoneweaver 1.2.1
Smart Text
Worldmate 2007 Standard
Stow away keyboard driver
E-Wallet
List Pro
My ROM: WWE_RC2170507B2
Can it be one or a combination of my apps is causing this drain? Please help.
Right now, with regular use(phone and sms) I need to charge twice a day!
Thanks,
Bree

Try to discharge the battery fully. then charge it. or the batt maybe old na. You may need to replace it, there are many good 3rd party batt available. just search the net
thanks for the suggestion! actually cleaned the battery contacts(read this from another post), feel there's a slight improvement. will try to drain the battery completely, and see what happens.
Yes, more than likely that your battery is dead and you need a new one. I just replaced mine
My battery life is decent, once I started keeping the screen brightness on a lower setting it helped a great deal.
Close software after use.
Hi
There is no issue about battery if i use it for basic phone and 30 minutes wifi browsing each day. GPRS browsing may consume too much power.
Do not use WorldMate if not required. HTC Plugin is 100 times better than it if you want only weather temparature.
Dont install too many softwares. If you opened any application try to close it completely eitehr with O2connect bar or from Running Programs in Memory section of Settings.
My O2 Atom Life uses around 40% battery power each day with basic phone use (1 hours talk) and 30 minutes wifi browsing and few other simple tasks of shorter usage.
Its exactly what they say....... Results may vary...lolz
i have o2 atom life .. if hot pda hence cannot charge.. but if pda normal (not hot) hence charge normaly..
why??
I am on PV_DVH WM6.1 aku 1.4.0, and my blue angel only stays alive for 14 hours after 100% recharging

Hi guys!
I have one after market battery 1500mA.
I've instaled 6.5 and battery was draining a lot faster then 6.1... (NOT PROBLEM OF 6.5)
Then came back to 6.1 and also the battery did not last for 1 day.
I formated the BA and used ONLY the rom and it was OK for 1 day.
Then instaled some programs and tested again one day.
Next day a few more apps... to detect what was draining the battery.
Ive reduced the apps I'm running so that I dont have bad luck of installing one that drains the batt.
Now I have 24h use (normal use) with 60% battery left.
Very happy now (I'm not using Manilla2D)
I'm using

Folks,
Iv got the latest SPB shell and for me its an absolute drain on the battery,
I dont get many calls but always have mail replicator on for 2hours.
Im loosing about 30-40% of battery a day without hardly doing anything.
Am i the only one or are you guys noticing a drain on the battery when using SPB shell 3?
The battery drained with my phone also.
I don't know if you have 3d acceleration on, in my case, disableing that cured the problem.

3d accel is only on the leaked copy. The final (legit) version does not have it.
I have done some power tests with the SPB 3 - you can find the results at my power condion thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3713293#post3713293
unless its a problem with your phone i found it to be pretty good consumption
ALSO: how do you disable it from starting up automatically?
because i cant turn it off :S
its not unde the today plugins list
My batt life is quite ok
On my touch diamond the battery draines fast when i play music even with the display turned off. Also running any software the battery draines fast. Never happened with pointUIHome 2.0 or TF3D so I will go back to using PointUI!

with tf3d, my battery comes to around 65% by evening (16 hrs usage)
with mobile shell 3, battery comes to around 40% by evening (16 hrs usage)
my phone is set to auto sync my mails every 30 mins, download rss news and several podcasts on rsshub on HSDPA network.

Exactly the same with me.. SPB shell, mail replicator for four accounts on for 2 hours, dozens sms, a few calls, and in the evening my battery is arround 60-70%..
On the other hand, I managed only once to have my XPERIA on for three days with one charge..
I had HP iPAQ 6515 for some years, and from the day one, my battery lasted exactly two days.. Even now, after four years, it lasts the same..
With normal usage, i doubt any XPERIA could lasts more than two days..
Dear participants,
I've got a question concerning my O2 branded HTC Touch (an Elfin, I guess, because of 128/256 RAM/ROM). I took it with me on a camping holiday to Italy 2 months ago and charged the battery with its standard ac-adapter. The latter was connected via a power strip. After I had charged it, I noticed that the battery went dead fast; it only lasted for about 18h in standby. The phone of my girlfriend (a Nokia 30something) had been charged via the same power strip and the battery wouldn't work at all afterwards.
So my first guess was that somehow the power strip was broken and as a consequence probably charged the battery "wrongly". Back at home I replaced both batteries with new ones. Since that point, the Nokia works perfectly again, but my Touch still only works for 18h even though there is new (original) battery in it.
Any suggestions? There is no mod whatsoever installed and it is the basic WM6.1 system that I am using.
Thanks in advance!!!
TheTick
Thread moved to Elf section.
Thank you!
I've always confused the two and did not know about the Legacy Devices subfolder.
One piece of information I should add is that my second idea was that my ac addapter was broken so I charged the phone via usb with my computer which, as you might guess, did not effect any difference.
Any ideas? Thank you!
I've downloaded the acb Battery Tester and found out that power usage is about 300 mAh. This seems to be to high when being to what other users have posted (around 170 mAh).
After a soft reset (after haveing installed acb again), the power consumption fell to 225 mAh which is better than what I had before but does not seem to be normal anyways.
I too have the same problem.Even my reading in acb battery monitor are an average of 225 mAh.Does anybody have a solution?
PS:Im using spb shell.

What is it without SPB shell?
i guess spb shell + overclocking was the problem.
Is that because you have disabled that and it is now running at normal? It would be nice to know so that it can help other people in your situation.
Hey you two,
MY touch does not have any extra software or verclocking going on, so I figure that it is defective because of the power cord. Do you think that is possible? Should not the power adapter filter currents that are too high for the mobile?
Cheers...
Battery is a lot better without overclocking and spb mobile shell.
I use OmapclockKeep and I set the following clock modes...
Idle = 50
On = 200
I use dsixda Onyx 6R13... this is a good and fast rom...
Battery life 3 days...
