Hi all, i managed to connect my XDA II to Activesync successfully and everything synchronize perfect.
i am just having hard time to make my XDA II Connect to the internet using the Activesync connection.
i went to options --> Rules ---> pass through , i have 2 choices here in connections 1. work and 2. internet !!! i wonder what they mean, any way i tried both and was not able to connect to the internet. do i need to make any changes to my XDA II Connections!!!
thanks for your help
I believe in your Connections in XDA II, you need to select my network card connects to Internet and select the Internet option in pass thru settings in ActiveSync
adapter!!!
ok i selected the the network card conects to: "The internet"
what about the other section. the adapter to modify, which one i should select!! i have 4 choices here:
1. NE2000
2. L2TP
3. ASYNCmAC
4. PPTP
My understanding is that you don't need to worry about those 4 adapters to get pass through to work. The most important thing is that both the pc passthrough connection and the Xda ii network card connection are the same. I.e. they are either both set to "Work", or both set to "The Internet". I use the "work" setting
i think i will break this stupid device :x , i tried both "work" and "the internet" non of them worked for me. and when i go to my XDA II Device and i change my network card to connect to work and click ok and check it again, it appear going back to the internet selection!!!! my PC is connected 24h/day to the internet through ADSL and i can't make this thing to use it

Are your ISP using Proxy server?, if yes configure proxy setting in your XDAII device.
I was able to surf the internet using both pass through options .
I had this problem and in the end I found that if I enabled a public proxy:
212.42.175.155 port 80
then the XDA would connect to the internet through active sync.
i can't get my xdaii to activesync, just keeps coming up as guest? It synced OK the first time... now just guest only. any suggestions.
Try removing xda from cradle, delete partnership in activesync and then reconnect to establish a new partnership.
A complete removal/restore of activesyn may also work but is more tedious. Make sure it is the latest version also.

Yes abo_khaleel , my ISP is using Proxy server. Where exactly in XDA II i can configure the proxy server. i mean in the network card section. I know when i make a GPRS or data connection i can see Proxy settings there but with the activesync i can't see it.

Not sure about xda2, since I have I-mate, but:
After conneting thought activesync, click signal signal strength icon (on the top of the screen), then click settings, this will open connections settings, then click: edit my proxy server. if you have more one than connection, try them one by one.
I was just wondering....
why would u want to on the internet on ur XDA via activesync?...isnt ur PC online already?...i just dont see the point just seems like if u were to buy a microwave that needs to be put in the hot oven to work...or is just me?????????? :?:

i can see your point but my XDA II is connected to my PC using bluetooth and since it is a feature that i can use while i am every where at home why not having it , i mean i don't have to sit all days at my desk to do my internet work, i can use the net even when i have boring friends visiting me

Can anyone connect to VPN (PPTP) using WM5 via wireless or GPRS?? When i use my old XDAIIi or II, i can connect by now using WM5 i cannot.
Hope those can connect please share. tks.
I can connect to a Windows 2000 PPTP VPN via wireless -- make sure that in Settings/Network Cards/Network Adapters, your network card is set to connect to the Work network.
Also, in Settings/Connections/Advanced/Select Networks, make sure that the lower droplist (private network) is configured to use the Work network.
Aside from those two items, I can't think of any other gotchas.
Ya still doesn't work......
do you know what the vpn device is that you are trying to connect to?
windows servers tend to be quite reliable. there are known issues with some checkpoint and cisco devices.
Hello,
I am having the same problem! I cant connect via VPN (PPTP) to my Windows Server 2003 RAS setup. It works perfectly fine on my laptop over the internet but when I try to connect using my Cinguar 8125 I get a generic "Invalid username/password' kind of error message. I have tried several differnt things, but I was wondering if there are security settings that are turned off or something like that? I actually have my RAS policy to let any device establish a VPN connection (obviously as long as it is authenticated) so I dont know what to do next... any suggestions??

For me works fine. I have only 2 connections:
a) my isp, with gprs configuration for vodafone
b) my work network, with the vpn connection definition (ip address, user, passw and domain)
I have it set up the same way and I still get the password issue... what kind of policies do you have in RAS?

did you uncheck the security in the connection with the server?
take care with the name user, times exchange get crazy: server/user or only user name for the user field...
Public IP

Hi! I am not an Network expert at all, but here in Norway with one teleoperator we have to use a special access point name on My Work Network connection to get a public IP-address so Network accepts the connection. Perhaps nothing to do with your problem, but also we experience a lot of PDA users having no problem with pre-WM5 devices and much problems with WM5 devices and VPN
hello...iam trying to connect my wizard to my PC using WIFI so i can use the internet connection of the PC on my Wizard.....iam able to connect the PC and WIZARD and even access files on the PC using the WIZARD....iam using a ad-hoc connection as my PC is equipped with a wireless network card (dont have a router unfortunately)....both the Wizard and PC are assigned static IPs(when i use DHCP on the Wizard it just refuses to pick up an IP address).....the issue iam having is i simply cant access the internet through the PC even though INTERNET CONNECTION SHARING is enabled on my PC and i know a netwrok connection between the PC and WIZARD has been established because both devices can ping each other...am i missing something???....thanks in advance for any help
do you have a firewall? you could try turning it off for a few mins see if thats causing problems.
if it is the firewall you can usually add the card as trusted.
i know norton stops all sort of things it shouldnt.
not using any firewall.....anything else ? what about connection settings on the WIZARD ?

That can be the problem. Do you have connections setup? If I remember correctly, you need at lest one setting setup. Who is your carrier? You can find cab files in this forum to make it very easy for you.
Hi everybody,
after googling through a lot of forums for some weeks now, I learnd a lot about VPN with WM6, setting up a VPN Server and all of this stuff.
But nowhere was a solution for my special problem...
I have an XP-Prof Server in my network, wich is set up as a VPN Server . It is behind my AVM Fritzbox 7270 where all the port-forwardings vor PPTP (GRE and port 1723) are done.
When I connect from the "outer world" using an XP or Vista machine, everything works fine.
But: When I connect from my Handheld (Samsung B7610 Omnia Pro), the connection is dropped after round about a minute.
Within this minute, I can start a Remote-Desktop-Session etc and everything seems to be alright until the connection gets lost.
There is no other connection been started (except my normal internet connection through "web.vodafone.de") , and Active Sync is set to "manual", so it can't disturb my VPN session.
Is there anyone with an idea what I can do to get my VPN working???
Thanks in advance,
Joschi
is your main goal to do VPN
or to do Remote-Desktop ?
if the later I would suggest vnc rather then ms's options vnc is free and generally works better imho
Hi Rudegar,
and thanks for your reply.
First of all, I want to get access to my Files, located on my server.
Remote-Desktop would be nice but is not a must have...
But thanks for the tip. I'll try VNC. However, I fear that the lost connection
hasn't anything to do with RDP. Even when i just connect without using any tool the connection gets lost within one minute.
Do you have any idea?
In some other threads I read about stopping ActiveSync and adding IP-Exceptions. But none of all solved my problem.
Hello,
In the General Section of xda-dev i never got answers about pptp vpn.
Perhaps i´ll get here some help ^^
Is there a way to get a working pptp client for my x10i.
My Phone is rooted and i can replace files if needed.
The buildin pptp client is useless and doesn´t connet to my bintec r1200 router.
My Windows PC and my Ipod are connecting without any problems.
Why google added a pptp client which doesn´t work ?
Some Users wrote they can connect with some comercial vpn providers. But i need to connect to my own Network. I don´t want to pay for something which my Router can give me 4 free ^^
My Phone does never connect to my Network. I does not matter if encryption is turned on or off.
I tryed the tip to replace some file from this thread, too. With no luck
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4706
Has anyone get a succesful PPTP connection to a NON COMMERCIAL Vpn ?
Openvpn is useless for me, too. My Router supports als standard VPN, so i don´t want to run an additional PC to get that Phone connected to my Network.
Please Help me
