Can anyone using the mail2web personal exchange push email service tell me what its like.
I use AOL email IMAP4, and dont want to change my email address.
So does it work??
Does it display in your in box the correct senders address that I can hit reply and it still work.
Does it take a copy from my AOL account and place that copy into the mail2web exchange account?? therefore allowing me to continue using my aol email online not the mail2web account.
Any information quirks etc would be much appreciated.
Yes. I am using it with Gmail at the moment and it works perfectly. If you use the email agregator settings then Reply button works fine. However, this feature does not work with all Email providers. If it doesn't work then you can set your AOL, etc email to forward all messages to your mail2web account. Pressing the reply button may or may not work in this case depending on how your email provider forwards messages

my views on this are complex
first mail2web is a very good service, and can be used free so its difficult to complain. The push email works very well. There are a few things you need to know:
1. Only sends emails using your mail2web.com account (i.e. can not send using you current email address, like 4smartphone.net can)
2. pop3/IMAP scan is only done once an hour. Better to fwd email, as the user above says, however then you don't have the benefit of SPAM scan on you host email (e.g. if yahoo). mail2web has SPAM scan but I think yahoo's is best
If you want a more professional service, 15min pickip on pop3/IMAP pull or sending out emails with you other email address mask then you need to pay $3.99 a month for 4smartphone.net.
If you are completely nuts, have loads of cash, are a control freak and have a broadband connection at home, you could buy a Windows Server, Exchange 2003 and setup your own push service :twisted:

I would like to ask your advice, can you recommend a good, full features and services, exchange email hosting?
I am trying the mail2web and I am using Yahoo, but this combination is not ideal. I cannot leave a copy of the email on yahoo when forwading to the mail2web. Ideally I would like one provider, with a good name, advertising free with which I can have the email also sent to the Jamin.

Try these guys http://www.4smartphone.com/Default.aspx. They have an option to pull your email from yahoo, hotmail etc and they have a free trial. $3.99 per month after the trial.

Does anyone know if I might be able to sync (via ActiveSync) with both my local desktop and a hosted Exchange provider like 4smartphone.net using the same device?
My Outlook at work is connected to Exchange 2000, so I can't get push e-mail, but I do sync my contacts, calendar and tasks. When I unplug my device, I'd like it to sync with an external hosted Exchange service which I can then use from my Outlook at home.
Is this possible?
@OP - Why do you still need to access your yahoo mail on their server? Just have it forwarded to 4smartphone for fastest delivery. You can always have them poll your Yahoo acct periodically if you really want to keep a copy there. Although, this sort of defeats the purpose of synced exchange on multiple devices. What you don't get with the free exchange servers out there is the ability to use Outlook 2003 to control your data and have it synced with multiple computers. Instead, you must always access your data on a PC with OWA (over the web), which is all right for many, but not nearly as nice. P.S. you do get a free copy of Outlook 2003 with the pro 4smartphone account. ($7/mo)
@urban - No, you can't sync the same category of PIM data to multiple sources, i.e. server and local PC. However, I believe you can sync the categories with multiple PC's, in which case you would ultimately be syncing the PC's together *via* your mobile device, although this isn't what you're looking for.

Anyways, trying the mail2web.com service. I signed up and for a small fee I have pop3 access to this account. It works quite well. The 4smartphone service look spretty cool as well.

I haven't taken the step to spending money as of yet but I have thought about going this route for some time. Basically at this point I'm using mail2web with a rule to to ensure replies are available on my home computer.
If you went with the full hosted exchange you have everything your ae asking for. At home you could access the mail through the free copy of outlook. On the road you can access the mail via the outlook web portal.
If then you want to hold a local copy you could simply create a rule to pull the mail into a local folder. This is in fact what many people where I work do with their corporate exchange account.

Ok here is what I have now.....
Work: Lotus Notes Domino Server (beyond secure no outside access unless I VPN)
Using WirelessMail for Domino

this forwards my email to a free mail2web account which then is synced to my mobile.... great alll is well BUT
when I reply to emails they see my [email protected] address which puts me in violation of something.....
So what I have done is
setup my person POP3 account on the phone and on my website I have my reply to and from email alias as my work email
so here is how it works
recieve an email at work
WirelessMail for Domino pushes entire message to mail2web
mail2web configured on my phone so I get it immediately
when I reply I use my POP3 settings and reply
goes to my pop3 account and then gets sent to recipients (with work info)
Problem:
When I do the send it does a full Send/Recieve I don't want that because it takes so long I just want to send......
Is there a way to just send
I own a domain and I'd like to set up an account on it ([email protected]) which will be pushed to my 8125. I checked with mail2web and they said I'd need to use their business plan since I'm using my own domain. Are there any other solutions someone could give me? I like the mail2web contact syncing feature since I don't have my home Outlook contact list cleaned up well, but I'm more interested in the PUSH feature.

What do you mean by "set it up as a pop3"? Set what up as a pop3? And how does that get the mail pushed to my phone?
Pop3 mail won't push... its not direct push. You can have your phone connect and download email through a pop at certian time intervals... but its not instant like direct push... pop won't sync either
But it is a way you can get your mail on your PDA, so its better than nothing...
That was my understanding as well, General. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something there. So it still sounds like the best/only way for me to get the email pushed out to my phone is to use the mail2web service.

The other option is to pay for it... There are companies out there that host exchange server. As long as they have Win2003 (with some SP installed) - Push is instantly available.
I use Push email service provided by 4Smartphone (www.4smartphone.com). You can also go to www.port88.org. A.Kelly has a couple of posts on this site where he's providing free Exchange mail service...all you have to do is email him.
I may be a little behind but found Mobipush.com and liked it but wanted to see what everyone else was using. you set up 5 email addresses and it pushes to your outlook folder (it wont save sent emails on the ppc though, wierd). How does everyone else use email? push email? I have an aol, yahoo and a work email address (wish i used my gmail more).
for mobipush, can you reply to from the original email addresses?
most people use a free exchange account with mail2web.
There's many other "free" push solutions, but most of them require additional software (which no one likes doing). Haven't heard of mobipush.

i tried them all, and the best one i think is mail2web. i foward all my mail to my mail2web account. I pay 5 dollars a month to have all the sent mail with my main email address. it links to the server so all my contacts and calendar and email are synced. Which is great so when I flash my phone (which I do often) i get all my emails and contacts through syncing back to my mail2web account.
if anyone has a better setup please let us know

Seven does have one that does but what I posted is Email Push only and it'll notify similar to Windows Live Mobile Hotmail.
As for AOL, try it, its listed in the app.... Nothing is better than hands on right?
I use it for my GMail & Yahoo! accounts...

Yes you can
So my sister has the 6700 and set up the "outlook" email to have push email with gmail. I went to set it up and it asks for the email address....then the username/password and the Domain (any ideas on what that means?), then next and it searches, and asks for the server address (any ideas here?). She said she set her's up with the pop3 address outgoing/ingoing...it never asks for that...
Ive used mail2web and I hate not being able to repsond with my gmail account unless i pay $5 a month. WHat i do now, is setup gmail to forward all my email to [email protected]. This setp is perfect for me; it basically becomes a notifier for you to check your gmail (so of course i have setup to check email manually). Works great and saves batteries as you can read alot of emails right off the text message

I installed my own exchange server cuz mail2web wasn't workin' for me as I have my own custom domain... They make you pay if you want to change your reply-to address.
Windows Server 2008 + Exchange 2007 is VERY slick if u can run into the licenses... I do feel a lil geeky installing enterprise software for 1 mailbox tho? lol. The web mail is awesome too lol. and not to mention using regular outlook... having everything linked together is sweeeeeet... open outlook on laptop ... add a contact or make a change and seconds later look at my pda and it's already sync'd... slick!
I really could NOT be happier having exchange sync on my device... it makes ALL the difference in email and contact sync... I lost my contacts so many times from hard resets and syncs between computers messing up... exchange is DEF the way to go for the all-around best experience.

Windows Live mobile services does free push email on Hotmail, MSN, Live, and OfficeLive email for free... even on free accounts.
Or forward you existing mail to a free Hotmail, MSN, Live, and OfficeLive email account.

How do you set up your own exchange server? now that would be awesome.
The service i mentioned above syncs calander, mail, tasks, contacts. I have it sync on my work desktop, my phone, my laptop, and my home compter. Best of all its FREE http://www.funambol.com/

No simple task... you need Windows Server (2003 or 2008) with lots of roles installed before you can install Exchange. And I wanted to go with the new Exchange 2007 which requires a x64 operating system as well.
Exchange isn't really meant for personal use.. it's a business/enterprise server installation... I just didn't wanna pay the $5-10/month for exchange hosting from someone else so I setup my own... Microsoft really needs to release some kind of a "personal" exchange server or something because it really stinks all these windows mobile peeps can't have exchange functionality without paying for a service
My push mail from Hotmail seems to be moving very slow lately and it is very anoying. Things like this make me miss my blackberry. I deal with alot of email a day and I need my emails to come to me quickly. I noticed when I installed the hotmail account the windows direct push icon can't be selected like when I had my @live.com email address. I dropped live because it decided to lock me out and not let me back in. Does anyone have any sugestions? I also don't want to deal with getting emails through another server.

I noticed that using Windows Live as its good times and bad times. Sometimes emails seem to come instantly and sometimes they seem delayed.
I know you said you prefer not to use a different server, but I must say, if you're willing to pay, then an Exchange server is the best.
If don't mind an @mail2web.com email address, you can set that up for free, but it won't be HTML.
If you have your own domain you can pay for a business account for about $20/month (including taxes). This allows you to use your own domain name, plus it uses Exchange 2007 so it offers HTML email. You can also sync your contacts, tasks, and calendar.
Another option is to use the Sprint Email app. I used that for a while and it seemed pretty fast too.
Now that I have that Exchange server, I can't see myself going back to anything else.
I just wanted to add that I think an Exchange Server will give you the closest thing to a Blackberry experience on Windows Mobile. Some people even say its better than Blackberry.
I am in no way affliated with them, but if you have your own domain to use for hosting, I love Sherweb; they're only about $8/month for hosted Exchange 2007. However, you're not going to be able to use your hotmail/live.com email address on a hosted Exchange server, since Hotmail won't auto-forward and you can't setup a reply-to address on the Exchanger server end (workarounds are possible, but messy).
I'd rather try to setup my sprint mail. if I add another twenty bucks on my bill I will be back up to black berry prices. how would I setup my sprint mail for push? when I setup the mail it asks me for how often to check for messages. the hotmail lets me select as items come. sprint does not seem to have an automatic email retrieve option unless I am doing something wrong?

You wouldn't actually be setting up your Sprint email account, but the Sprint Email program that should be in your Start > Programs menu. It should walk you through all of the steps to push your hotmail/live account.
Now for the stupid question. I reinstalled my hotmail email using the sprint email application and I have two hotmail email icons now. Is there anyway to remove the old one with out hard reseting and doing it all over again? Also would you know how to setup another email account with the sprint email option or is it just a one time thing?

I hear you, I just find it frustrating to have to do all of this in order to have push mail. Something that is available but it seems to be a broken system.....thanks Microsoft

Quite a few ppl from ova there use it. I've been using it about a week now and it works pretty good. Even has a home tab to let you know its connected and pushing. The longest an email has taken was 10 min and the shortest about 1 min. Its better than outlook logging on and syncing process and it is full HTML support. It also can have upto i think 5 dif emails
