Hi im considering to buy a universal so read a lot in this forum.
But one thing still isn't clear to me is that:
How to "flash" a rom into the Pocket PC?
using what kind of software and what's the procedure?
i searched for couple of hours but still couldn't figure out the answer...
and i actally want to buy a MDA pro from T-mobile (germany)
well, as far as i know from this forum,
i can free the simlock by myself using the unlocking tool by Buzz (or some others..?) and also "flash" in an english language OS (but how?), am i right?

Hi all!
I just got my HTC P4350 today (I bought it in Germany). It is a HTC band, not any O2, T-mobile or Vodaphone. However, it has a German OS came along (WM5 as written on the case).
I checked the forums and found this:

Downloaded the last WEE Rom and tried to upgrade, but I got the error message which says:
ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDOR ID
This Update Utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please check your Upgrade Utility.

all discussed many times.
BUT: you cannot flash a german Herald with an english rom without unlocking.
Herefor you can use imei.check.uk - but it cost.

Does anybody have any experience with MyLanguage (http://www.mylanguage.mobi)? As far as I can tell this would be sufficient for me to have an English speaking Herald.

I have just baught a HERMES (SPV M3100). Orange has set it up so I cannot use many websites (googlemaps etc). What do I need to de-orange it?
Also - can I get a new active sync? (the one that came with it doesnt sync contacts and doesnt sync with microsoft outlook).
I think maybe I need to Cook or flash my HERMES?
Sorry that these are basic questions. I have read the Wiki, but am no familiar with al the terms.

I got an SPV M3100 and I flashed it with various roms.
It's a simple process if you follow ALL the rules.

It is very helpful for me a (complete novice).
So to unlock a device I need to Flash HardSPL which is a modified bootloader ? (have I got these terms correct)?
If I stop after the flash Hard SPL stge will I have the same device as before, unlocked?

I want to know how I can flash any ROM on my Herald!?? It is not branded (original HTC)! I've read something about CID, can anybody tell me what this means?
Do I have to "unlock the CID" für flashing any ROM on my Herald?
CID lock, is a provider lock so you can not install another ROM on your phone. Look in the Herald thread for HARD-SPL.
But before hand, you have to know what your SPL and IPL is. Go into bootloader(press camera and softreset button and then relase only softreset button) You will get a 3 color display with numbers.
Those numbers should start with SPL/IPL 4 or 5! If you see like: 1.08.0000 eg. then you can't use this program till you upgrade to SPL/IPL 4 or 5.
You do NOT need to CID unlock because Herald users have a backway of flashing. Hard-SPL is a dangerous tool and not 100% compatible with ALL phones. Before using it, be aware that you may brick your device permanently. The other way is MUCH safer. Most of the posted ROMs here use that way, with the occassional (but not always successful while it IS safe) USPL.
Either way, make sure you have a copy of the stock RUU in hand before you begin.

Any of the ROMs since they all come with "safe" ways to flash. HardSPL is done seperately.
Is it right, that I can flashing any ROM on my Herald?

You don't need to unlock anything. You can use any HERALD ROM. There's a thread I created around here that has instructions. Look for it under the Herald Mobile 6 forum and look for "Official flash" thread by ivanmmj.

Hi i have a Prophet but i destroyed it. Now i would like to buy another smartphone i want to buy a herald from Germany new (O2 XDA TERRA). But it has a rom in German and as i know it uses WM5. Is it simple and possible to install WM6 English or Greek (as i am from Greece) in this phone? In prophet i had installed WM6 after HardSPLED my phone. In this phone i have to do the same? Please don't become ungry with my thread ... Please do not hesitate to inform me...

It depends on your ispl number and what rom you intend on flashing to. Which rom are you planning on flashing to? Open touch doesn't require hard spl, so you can just use the uspl method.
So you mean that the method to install a different rom than the original is different from the prophet method? Is there a possibility that the device i will buy to be locked and never can install a different rom? Please inform me because i want to buy it immediately

You really have two options as far as flashing. You can hard spl or you can use the uspl. Uspl method seems to be safter than hard spl'ing. That being said, it really depends on what rom you are trying to flash to. If you go to ie. open touch, you can use the safer uspl method. If you go to ie touch it, you need to hard spl first.

Here is the method for USPL....which I would recommend since it's safer.

If the SPL is lower than 4.0.0.0, there is another way to flash... it's not perfect, it's been know to fail, and it does not reformat the memory thus you do not regain any wasted storage space, BUT it would at least give you a newer ROM...

Hello there! im new here in the forum and i have some problems with my qtek 9000...
Let's start, but lemme tell u something, i am totally NOOB in these things so u gotta tell me step by step if u can
Okay, first of all my Qtek 9000, when i turn him on it appears the Qtek Keep the world in one Screen and the usb connect/disconnects all the time so i cant do nothing that uses usb port, after the Qtek screen it appears something in red:
R 1. 18. 00
G 42. 54. P8
D 2. 07. 00 WWE
And then it turns off...
I tryed to charge the ppc but if i put in charge, it turns on and off all the time
sometimes it appears the Windows Mobile screen too but it turns off again...
What can i do here, im totally confused... Please Help Me!

Have you tried to do a hard reset? (instructions in the wiki)
Check also your battery.

well i think its from the battery cuz it doesn't charge, when i put it to charge it stars to turn on/off all the time... and if i use the hard reset while in charge does the same thing, just turns on/off
and btw what are those things? with R, G and D (WWE means worldwide english right?)
