MemMaid question - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

MemMaid found 44 dupes in the Notification Que they were all sddaemon.exe. Is it ok to remove the dupes? What does sddaemon do?

i think MemMaid deleted all my emails =/ or maybe its another problem with the wizard

There is a bug in Windows Mobile 5 that causes duplicate notifications... I believe I read that here somewhere... not sure what it does but deleting the dupes has never caused me an issue. I use MemMaid at startup to clean up when my device boots. I make a habit of restarting the phone once a day and it runs great.

It's the background process for voice dial.
It's not just safe to delete the duplicates (just the duplicates, nothing else!) but also adviseable. If you have lots of them they can slow down your device.

dupes
is there a way to prevent dupes from occuring or is that just a bug?

What rom are you using? my dupes of sddaemon went when i upgraded to aku2 rom.

my ROM Is the basic cingular one...1.8.11.1, this is off topic but does this ROM include A2DP?

I think you need ROM 2.x for that.

one quick question aboiut memmaid
on wm5, is there supposed to be softkeys support (so you don't have to tap the screen)?

Yeah. Comfirmed that. As a matter of fact, i removed sddaemon from my start up list to avoid it duppping itself on my notification list again. I never use the voice dial anyway. Recommend those who does use voice dial to do the same.

Other application like MortButtons

Hello,
Are there other applications wich works like MortButtons ?
Thanks in advance...
Largo
to do what?
Largo, you might be interested in SoftwareActionControl:

Thanks a lot... I'm actually using another TillanSoft programm : Small Menu Plus...
It's really nice !
Largo
What's wrong with MortButtons? Did you check out the latest beta? (scroll down to end of thread for the latest update)
btw: Since it's often confused (and I think about renaming due to it), MortButtons has nothing to do with the button assignment itself, it's just a menu/launcher tool optimized for "single button" use. It work's fine in combination with BtnPlus, ButtonMapper, and similar tools.
Hello Mort,
My problem was that MB wasn't showing Pocket Outlook (calendar, ...) correctly...
A nice feature in SmalMenu is the possibility to close all runnig applications in one click. Is it possible with MortButton?
I'm going to try the beta version...
Thanks in advance and long life to MortButtons.

Not as such. Getting the list of running applications is a bit tricky, and I don't want to kill any wrong tasks (like WisBar or such)...
But you might include other tools like PHM Keys.
Hi Mort,
I'm a big fan of yours. Your programs rock! Thanks for all your hard work. I've just installed your new MortButtons beta, really nice.
Cheers

About PHM Keys, the close function works well by itself (if affected to a real button) but it doesn't when affected to MortButton ? Is it normal ?
Thanks in advance

Can old appointments/reminders be kept?

Do any of you guys know if there is an option to keep old appointments/reminders on the phone so that I can refer to them later? They only seem to be kept for up to 1 week back before being deleted.

My calendar kept all appointments in memory, when i need to reappointment the same i can edit old one, but without any find function. To find old appointments i use SKtools with "exceed appointments" option, also it could be deleted to safe memory!

What is SKTools? I don't seem to have this on my phone, I have had a look at the options menu on the phone but cannot find anything that will allow me to keep all my previous appointments. I want to use my calendar like a diary as well as remainders for forthcoming appointments.

I had this too, I think I imported all the contacts from sim but as it shows sim contacts anyway then they all appear twice.
To delete open phone green button open contacts>menu>sim manager>menu>delete contacts this will run up a list of contacts which can be ticked and deleted collectively (although you do need to tick each one)
Mike
Thanks alot thats great, Ive got the option up now just before i tick all the boxes will it just delete contacts from the phone memory and not off the sim?
Thanks
yeah all sorted now, thanks

Great stuff!!
Edit: By the way this was the SIM manager so effectively I believe that's the contacts gone from the SIM leaving the ones on the phone. So if you change phone you need to use SIM manager again to copy all contacts to the SIM i.e the reverse of what you just did.
Mike
Also, you can use SKTools 3+ to delete all your PIM stuff at once. See my reviews of this excellent apps in the General forum.

You're welcome!
Like what?
"pralines" or chocolate?
- Neuhaus (great (it is said the best in Brussels) for pralines)
- Côte d'Or (bought by Kraft group) (best Belgian chocolate brand)
- Leonidas (great pralines especially the "Manons")
- Godiva (great pralines)
- Wittamer (great (very expensive) pralines)
You have plenty of them!!!
Cheers,

Disable wake up on new SMS

Is it possible to disable phone wake up when a new message comes in? I want wake up to be enabled when a call is coming, but not for text messages. I think there are some "scripts" in the registry to control the ringing-behaviour and these involve wake up. Is it possible to modify this setting specifically for SMS/MMS?

What does it do to achieve it? I don't like XperiaTweak too much, I don't think it's a very good piece of SW. And it means one app more.

Doesn't sound like it's working well for them. Are you sure this is the same thing that XperiaTweak does?
Have you tried applying the registry tweak mentioned in the threads? It was what you were looking for, wasn't it?

Select "New" D_Word and you will be asked to enter the details :
Top portion just enter : DisableSMSWakeUpEvent
and bottom portion just enter the value : 1

I'm wondering the exact same thing myself mate.
Can no-one help?
Another here who misses the 'Quick Menu'.
There's a lot of talk on not being able to shut down programs that are loaded into memory without now having to launch the Task Manager first, but this was all part of the same HTC Task Manager.... you either closed it or brought it to the front.

several threads going on this. HTC task manager cab can be found in the threads "hints and tips". The cab has been provided by Dutty Throy. I have read that some users need to disable htc sence before installing.

Yes, I'm well aware of those topics. I've contributed to some myself.
What I am saying though is although there is a lot of talk on this no one seems to mention the Quick Menu's acxess list.
Everone talks of being able to access the closed 'X'.

I agree. If the memory management is so super-duper that it can leave programs open and not have a detrimental effect then that doesn't help me switch between them on my MULTI-TASKING smart phone now does it!
I just want the quick menu back. I hate the idea of having to flash a ROM onto a phone that I've had for less than a day, just to get some of the functionality that I expected to be standard.
You can switch to running application by running it again.

I've been using a very similar OS for over a year now, and have always been able to just click the down arrow in the top right of my home screen for a list of running apps. This is what people are asking for, not work-rounds.
Besides, if the app in question is in a sub-menu of a sub-menu of the start menu, then it becomes a real pain to run it again. It's quicker to stick the task manager on your quick links on the home page and use that (despite the fact that that is ANOTHER app running, and we don't have access to exclusions any more either).
Dr.Sid said:

Yes but this is exactly why there is an issue in not having a 'Quick Menu'.
Running them again you have to open Start then find the program (of which if you have many, many programs/games can take quite a bit of effort).
Much simpler to just open the 'Quick Menu' and click on the already opened program.....
