I had this too, I think I imported all the contacts from sim but as it shows sim contacts anyway then they all appear twice.
To delete open phone green button open contacts>menu>sim manager>menu>delete contacts this will run up a list of contacts which can be ticked and deleted collectively (although you do need to tick each one)
Mike
Thanks alot thats great, Ive got the option up now just before i tick all the boxes will it just delete contacts from the phone memory and not off the sim?
Thanks
yeah all sorted now, thanks

Great stuff!!
Edit: By the way this was the SIM manager so effectively I believe that's the contacts gone from the SIM leaving the ones on the phone. So if you change phone you need to use SIM manager again to copy all contacts to the SIM i.e the reverse of what you just did.
Mike
Also, you can use SKTools 3+ to delete all your PIM stuff at once. See my reviews of this excellent apps in the General forum.

You're welcome!
Like what?
"pralines" or chocolate?
- Neuhaus (great (it is said the best in Brussels) for pralines)
- Côte d'Or (bought by Kraft group) (best Belgian chocolate brand)
- Leonidas (great pralines especially the "Manons")
- Godiva (great pralines)
- Wittamer (great (very expensive) pralines)
You have plenty of them!!!
Cheers,

Do any of you guys know if there is an option to keep old appointments/reminders on the phone so that I can refer to them later? They only seem to be kept for up to 1 week back before being deleted.

My calendar kept all appointments in memory, when i need to reappointment the same i can edit old one, but without any find function. To find old appointments i use SKtools with "exceed appointments" option, also it could be deleted to safe memory!

What is SKTools? I don't seem to have this on my phone, I have had a look at the options menu on the phone but cannot find anything that will allow me to keep all my previous appointments. I want to use my calendar like a diary as well as remainders for forthcoming appointments.

Delete the contacts in Outlook at your desktop computer and sync after it.
just use your keyboard to click ctrl + a. thats was select all, then you can delete them all together.
thanks

Universal doesn't have a CTRL key... (unless you find the CTRL / ALT hack)
I have my own ctrl/alt/shift key hacks (unreleased), but if you're not already using it, I strongly recommend PQz!

VJ, are you sure it works????
It used to work in PPC2003 OS, but the option of selecting multiple contacts by dragging, or using Control + a has vanished in wm5 os
hmmm...

Go to My Device rename "Pim.vol" file to Pim.vol.bad or........, then softreset
dreamtheater39: I see what you mean. I haven't ever used contacts on WM5, and just realised what you mean. Nice "feature" they've introduced.
It might be possible to hack the contacts app to reintroduce multiple selects by changing the listview style. Might give this a go one day.

Simple
Install Pocket Informant..and ....yes it allows u to select more than one contacts..beam or delete

MemMaid found 44 dupes in the Notification Que they were all sddaemon.exe. Is it ok to remove the dupes? What does sddaemon do?
i think MemMaid deleted all my emails =/ or maybe its another problem with the wizard
There is a bug in Windows Mobile 5 that causes duplicate notifications... I believe I read that here somewhere... not sure what it does but deleting the dupes has never caused me an issue. I use MemMaid at startup to clean up when my device boots. I make a habit of restarting the phone once a day and it runs great.

It's the background process for voice dial.
It's not just safe to delete the duplicates (just the duplicates, nothing else!) but also adviseable. If you have lots of them they can slow down your device.
dupes
is there a way to prevent dupes from occuring or is that just a bug?

Yeah. Comfirmed that. As a matter of fact, i removed sddaemon from my start up list to avoid it duppping itself on my notification list again. I never use the voice dial anyway. Recommend those who does use voice dial to do the same.

guys are you guys using a legit version of memaid? i noticed they only have a trial...
anyway around that?
I'm certain i've seen this query before but I cannot seem to find it!
I have a in-car navigation system and because of the phone not being wholly supported, i need to bluetooth the contacts over onto the system.
the issue is i cannot find the "select all" option in contacts, nor can i select all the contacts manually.
I have around 300 contacts on the phone and there is no way i can sit there clicking, beaming, selecting bluetooth reciever and sending because that in itself can take up to a minute per contact
Thanks
One cab to try is FDC PPCContacts. it provides some advanced functionality.
Try Ctrl+A with the Softkeayboard. I don't know a solution with the hardware keyboard. I'm really missing the Ctrl key on it.

Thanks for that... I dont suppose you could write up a beta thing for me to use ? I know its a bit cheeky but its a bit pointless me having a $3000 incar system with built in bluetooth phone, and a $600 phone but yet be restricted because of this one small issie with WM5.
I beamed over 3 today and it took almost 5 minutes for them.
The pattern is:-
Set system to recieve
select>beam>wait to pick up system>and select
once beamed, the system says do you want to beam more.... you have to say yes
then you do the process again.
If I know a rough time-scale then I know whether to borrow a nokia and sync the contacts to that (via outlook) and then beam at once.
Thanks for your help again

Hi sambartle,
If you have several hundreds of contacts, it could take time, it is mush simpler to click on the menu item. BTW, you have probably PPCContactsMgr on your device...

Hey guys,
Is there a way I can select all the emails and mark them all as READ.
I dont want to scroll through 20 unread emails one by one to mark them read :S
How can I do that ?
Oh something just came in mind, its another question which I think is a waste to create a whole new thread for ..
I installed a new ROM update, everything was reset. Do I need to install the camera hotfix as well as other SMS fixes and such ? Or are they included in the latest ROM update (1.66)
Thanks

It tells you on each hotfix what ROM version they apply to. I don't think any are needed with 1.66, but check anyway.
