Agile Messenger Quick Question - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

If i connect to agile messenger via WIfi, and i send/recieve IM's....will they count as text messages (as far as my bill is concerned)

If you're connected through WIFI, your service provider (Cingular) will never even know you're connected, as it's a totally separate type of service/connection... so simply put, no.

As far as I know, Agile Messenger does not use text messages for communication. It uses your internet connection on your data plan to send/receive IMs. All Cingular sees is internet data traffic, not text messages. I use Agile all the time with my MediaNet Unlimited plan. Works like a charm.

can someone tell me how to disable GPRS/edge on my 8125 please?!

data usage charges.

I use a cingular 8125 and tmobile- voice plan only no texting or web
I have wifi(internet connection) at home
once i am in a wifi, and browsing the web. do i get charged for data usage from my service provider(tmobile)?
or once im using windows messenger or third party messenger on a wifi connection do i get charged for text messages?
thanks
no a pda connected to wifi works just the same as a pc connected to wifi
it dont mean one pay for internet other then the internet one pay for of ones wifi
but sms use gsm unless one send them from a free sms website
thank you. so It wont charge for texting, or data usage once i am on a wifi network. the only reason i had this concern was my friend said ya man. and his dumb ass never used a pda. LOL
sms is a service which goes from 1 phone to another
if you normal sms from your phone it will charge you
the internet cant connect you to phones unless they are on the internet
so to sms over the internet one needs to connect to a service which let your sms out of the internet so to speak
wifi is for your pda 100% thing as it is for your pc
your phone operator will not even know you are online when you are connected to wifi
any pda with wifi can connect to the internet that way it dont even have
to be a phone
I found that even when I am connected to a WiFi connection, when I used either the browser or Windows Messaging, I got a data charge on my AT&T bill. In order to make absolutely sure that this does not happen again, I disable the cellular service under the Comm Manager when I want to use WiFi. I had thought that the WiFi would take precidence over the cellular service, but I could not find any way to configure this, so I just turn off the cellular service. It's a pain, but at least I don't get the data charges.
My advice is to alter the gprs ap name (ofnew.fr -> ofnew.ten.fr) so it can't use it.

Agile Messenger Problem

Hey, I just installed Randomize's wm6.1 rom....everything is working great, i've had no problems other than with Agile Messenger.
Agile messenger refuses to connect when on Edge or 3g, but connects fine when connected to wifi. IM+ seems to work perfect on anything...
before upgrading, agile messenger worked fine...anyone have any suggestions?
Double check your Internet connections. Agile wont connect using media net make sure you have it setup to use a ISP connection.
so whats the difference between medianet (wap.cingular) and isp (isp.cingular)
i have the unlimited data plan, its not gonna charge me some extra for isp or anything is it
edit** i just tried my isp, and connection failed

Disabling all other GPRS functions other than MMS??

Hello,
I dont use the internet short of WIFI. I hate it when I open a program it it tries to access the internet, little things like that really bulk up my phone bill. I disabled the GPRS then found I could not receive picture mail, which I use quite often in my work. Any suggestions how I may have the best of both worlds (Disabled gprs while still receiving mms)

Permanently Disable Data Connection?

My AT&T plan for my SMT5600 has free picture and video sending, but no data plan. My first question is, does MMS use a data connection such as GPRS? If it doesn't, how can I disable the GPRS so I don't accidently connect? If MMS does use a GPRS connection, how can I disable GPRS for IE Pocket but keep it enabled for MMS? Short and sweet, I don't want any data charges on my bill. Thanks!

which data connection is which?

Hi peoples,
on my HD I have two data connections
O2 Active and Mobile Web
I have the unlimited web bolt on and use my phone for surfing, push email etc. Sometimes my phone refuses to send MMS messages, I don't get an error, it just stays in the outbox. I'm wondering if it's a problem with having two data connections or not, but it's a VERY annoying problem
so, does anyone know which connection is used for what and whether to send MMS messages I should disable one connection type?
thanks
