Looking for a printer driver the Pocket Printer A6 that works with Windows Mobile 5 on my Cingular 8125.
Doing a web search, I'm assuming SiPix is a digital camera, and you're looking for a way to connect it straight to your Wizard via USB? I don't really think that's possible, as the USB port on the Wizard is not a true USB port, like you would find on your computer, and is not capable of driving devices.
SiPix Pocket Printer A6, it's a small battery-powered IrDA printer.
I haven't been able to find a WM5 driver for it yet.

I dont think that these printers are supported any longer. I have one and it works fine with my Dell Axim X5 (WM2003) but i get an incompatibility message when I try to use the software on my wizard.
Let me know if you succeed though as I am looking for the same.
*****UPDATE******
I have just tried LowFat Invoice software on my Wizard. Using the built in drivers for this software, I successfully printed out a test invoice.
Obviously the actual driver works with WM5 as it is the same interface as the Sipix software, so the fault must lie within the two Sipix applications that accompany the printer.
I know this is an old thread, but for those like me that sometimes need a hardcopy its a bit of a result, it just depends on what you need to print.
I use mine to print expenses lists for our accountant at work.

Yeah. That might sound ridiculous to some of you, but I'm in a bind. I'm passing off my disused Palm Zire 71 to a friend who can actually make some use of it. However, the cradle port in the Palm isn't working for some reason; I thought it was the cradle itself at first, so bought a new HotSync cable, and it still doesn't work. I'd sync with infrared, but the IrDA drivers won't install on my PC because I'm using a highly customized version of XP which doesn't like 16-bit executables....
To make a long story short:
I can install Palm programs via infrared transfer from my XDA IIs, but I can't register them because many of the programs require a HotSync ID to be registered. Because I am incapable of doing a HotSync, I was hoping there happened to be some method (software or otherwise) of HotSyncing a Palm via Pocket PC - using infrared. I need to get a HotSync ID into this Zire 71 one way or another, and my creative problem solving is nearing its limit. Thanks!
So, got a nice shiny new Advantage 7501, wm6 ... life is good.
Then i install the traveltrak CE software for my dive computer (uwatec 2g). I've used it for the past couple years on my ipaq hx4705 to download dive log info (while still on the boat) via IR .. you also can setup the dive computer via the IR .. much easier than the 2 buttons on it.
anyway, the 7501 has no IR? with a 4 into 1 (usb host) cable would it be able to use a USB-IR dongle?

I think for remote control, the speaker-IR range extender (from griffin tech) might still work with their "total remote" software.. will try it later

its really a case of trial and error. wm6 does have ir functionality, though how it responds to external ir devices is a mystery to me at least
it's a USB host device... don't see that working.
On WM5 has anyone been able to access USB devices like printer, Pendrive etc directly? Would be great to be able to print directly or access files from a USB memory stick.
Have heard of HP printer drivers for older versions of windows CE somewhere...
Using a usb device on the phone.
I know of no WM5 or WM6 phone for that matter that have a usb STACK on them that would allow them to use a usb device. They are designed to BE a usb device for a pc...not the other way around.

i think you are mistaken.. there are a couple new WM5 and/or 6 devices that have USB hosting support.. among them is the Athena, O2 Flame, and toshiba g900, and those WM devices exclusive from/for japan..
Yeah, it is the other device that must be able to read the PPC.
My stereo read my Tytn as a storage device. Can play music directly from the PPC. However it is the Stereo doing the recognizing job. Not the other way around.
I'd just like to clarify a few things:
1) USB has two sides - host and client and they are different by hardware and not just software so there is no "able" question here.
2) In cases like memory stick, printer etc. when your device uses what is connected to it, the phone must act as host. The reason there are few devices with USB host is mainly because to be fully implemented this standard must provide up to 500 mA current to the hosted device and of course thats a bug problem when working on battery.
(Any phone that does implement it, provides it "unpowered" so not all devices will work)
3) In cases where something is using your device like the stereo, the phone acts as a client so with the right piece of software (like WM5Storage) any phone can be used.
The fujitsu Pocket LOOX T810/830 can act as a USB hub.
Some devices have this capability but not a feature that is common.
Sam.
I'm really unqualified to discuss this in great detail, but why I got there was - I've read somewhere in these forums about Win95 emulators for ppc devices. Now if it could be possible to "emulate" just the USB stack portion of Win95, maybe, the ppc could be connected to devices like printers which would not require a powered USB connection.
That's all ...
Atul
emulating an os dont add new features to the hardware though
I have been trying to find a solution that will allow me to print from the 8525 to a printer. So far there are few and far between products available. I have two printers on my network one is a HP Photosmart 1215 with a bluetooth printer kit installed. The second is an OKI C5200n color network laser printer. I am trying the PrintBoy software from Bachmann Software & Services Handheld and Smartphone Software and Accessories from Bachmann Software and can print from the 8525 to the HP using bluetooth. No luck so far using the network connections to either printer over wifi.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem, or if you already have a solution, jump in.
James
In another forum a member pointed me towards jetcet print. It is a large program and takes up a lot of room on the phone. However, it has several pluses. First it does print nicely to the HP Photosmart 1215 printer. Secondly, it supports more file types than PrintBoy. Finally, the cost is less!
I still can't get the network printer to work. The 8525 can access the printer and the printer responds, but with an error message. I need to find a compatible driver for it. I am in the process of going over all the drivers jetcet print provides, I may get lucky!!
I will post my progress.
hi. i have connect my blackstone with a usb to the printer but is not working. what i have to do?
to connect to usb devices require 2
things
1. the pda have to support usbHost pretty sure that blackstone don't
2. all the correct windows mobile drivers for the printer very very few printer makers make windows mobile drivers at all
Ok, not what you've asked for but there are some solutions for printing from Windows Mobile devices, mostly these are not free, and as having no need to print I have not tested these:
Westtek Jetprint $9.95
http://www.westtek.com/pocketpc/jetcet/
Bachmann Software Printboy $49.99
http://www.bachmannsoftware.com/pbce.htm
PrintPocketCE $39.95 ("Prints in Color" lol)
http://www.fieldsoftware.com/PrintPocketCE.htm
Cortado Print & Fax (Ca$h per month I think)
http://www.cortado.com/euen/OnlineServices/PremiumServices/forWindowsMobile.aspx
HP mobile printing for pocket pc
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=242184&prodNameId=235049&swEnvOID=2008&swLang=8&mode=3&taskId=135&swLang=8&swItem=ja-36647-1 but they have stopped letting people download, so I found a mirror here: http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/Printing/HP-Mobile-Printing-8678.shtml OK just tried this one and while it did work on my Dell Axim x30 (about 4 years ago) it doesn't work on my TD2, installs but bring up an error.
Most of these seem to have been designed for versions of WM prior to WM5, so actually I think that means PPC2003 !?!
Also keep an eye out for these guys, http://printershare.com/mobile.sdf they have iphone & Android versions (bit of a bandwagon jumping on there I think!), would assume WM version wouldn't be too far behind?
I thought our Touch HD comes with "Jetcet Print 5"
With that software you can print via WiFi or bluetooth.
What you need is a pure network printer or a PC which shares the printer you want to use.
Works like a charm on my Touch HD
