how to change the virtual keyboard layout - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Hi,
I just purchased a Qtek S200. Since I'm in a french speaking area, I got it in french, which is fine ... except for the virtual keyboard which is now an AZERTY.
I'm trying to understand how to swith it to QWERTZ.
As far as I could understand by reading different web pages, I would have to change the HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload key. However, it seems that I also need corresponding dlls...
Any practical clue on how to change the keyboard layout would be most welcome.
Thanks,
Olivier
(Needless to say that changing the regional settings in the control panel didn't help ...)

I got one in qwerty and want it in azerty.
Can you send me the dll?
maybe I can get it t change

aarg! what was the name of theremoved program pliz ?
I would love to use ENG roms but I can't because of this freaking QWERTY keyboard, so if I can change it to AZERTY it would be great !!

How to generate Swedish characters with keyboard

I’ve been using an Ipaq hx2750 for over a year now, but feel a huge need of having a keyboard. Strongly considering the Wizard (the Qtek or K-Jam), I’m interested in finding out more about the ability to customize the keyboard layout to support Swedish characters (å, ä and ö).
Surfing to www.myqtek.com and choosing Swedish, brought me to the insight, that there is a Swedish version of the device. This means both Swedish keyboard and ditto OS. Since I’d prefer my OS in English, I wonder whether it is possible to change the normal WWE version’s keyboard mapping to match the picture found on this web site (which is the Swedish version of the device).
I’ve read about this keyboard mapper, but need to get confirmed that it can be done.
If it is possible to generate the mentioned Swedish characters on a “native” WWE Wizard's keyboard (without any patches or remapping), it would also be of interest and enough info for me to buy the English version.
On www.myqtek.com, I also found the following file, which was supposed the remap the keyboard to Swedish in case a hard reset was done on a device (however, this might only relate to units with the Swedish OS). The file is located here http://www.myqtek.com/downloadFile....dic_keyboard_1102.sa.cab&node=5040&media=5037.
If someone has a “clean unit” and don’t mind doing a Hard Reset to retrieve the English keyboard setting, I’m very interested in finding out whether the patch generates a Swedish keyboard map on an English unit as well.
I’ve spent quite a few hours scanning this forum on the mentioned issue, but without being able to narrow it down just to the keyboard remapping (most posters are interested in altering the whole ROM into another language as well).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or comments!
Best regards,
Bateman
I cant answer directly to your question, but in finland there is few shops, which are selling qtek 9100 wwe with swedish keyboard. Its little bit more expensive than wweOS/wwe keyb (something like 10-15euros).
Other product which you should look is Skandinavisk tastatur

Thanks for the reply! The suggsted link changes the soft keyboard into Swedish. Additionally to change the slide-out keyboard's layout into Swedish, simply run the small program found on www.myqtek.se. The small application can be removed like any other program through "Remove programs" in Start->Settings.
I now have a WWE Qtek9100 with Swedish layout on the hardware keyboard.

request - only one button to change language ???

Hi to all,
I use the Syrius R0 rom but it might be for all roms.
I usually write, mostly sms, using the "compact QWERTY" keyboard, and as I am an italian, living in Spain and working in Germany, I very often have to write sms in these diferent languages and I would love to have a "button" to change the language of T9 and the configuration of the keyboard only by pushing it (I mean without going throug "Options/options ... "
Can I do it myself?
or maybe someone of the developers can make it for me/us?
am I alone with this 'problem'?
how did others solve it?
thanks
Isidar
I have a two language setup on PocketCM keyboard, but I'm not sure how to do T9 on pocketcm. It might be possible so you should look into it.
I'd say try out Resco Keyboard PRO, it allows you to change languages directly on the KB.
Only $20, and it's worth it!
I don't know how to solve Your issue but it would be great if You told me how can You have different T9 on Your device? For example, I have English T9 as default but I have no idea how to add Estonian T9.

you're right, $20 is not that much, but the buttons are too little for me, the best keyboard I find was / is the "compact QWERTY" I found on Syrius R9
and it would be great if there was a way to change the language ...
or may be Resco Keyboard can be changed tu a "compact QWERTY"-similar ???

hey me too from hk im another person who can confirm after install ce-star 2.8 rc3 with crack can write in japanese with i have not try if it works with keyboard because my version just make the keyboard not working and hard to hard reset but if it is just handwritting is alright
If you need only Japanese, the best solution is Asukal's LetsJapanNo6 (Japanese font) + IME_31J_F (input panels), plus a few reg edits to get the keyboard working. It will give you fully functional Japanese + English input (hardware keyboard, softkeyboard, handwriting). Search around, or follow the link below to get started:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441402
* Note: the two cabs are standard for whatever (W)VGA device you install it on, but you may need to experiment with the reg edits since the X1 may behave differently than the TouchPro.
If you also need Chinese and/or Korean input, you will need to look for a different solution, such as CEStar.
Mahalos for the reply guys/gals Yes, I need to be able to read and write/type in Japanese because of the field I'm working in now. This is the first time I'm "kinda hacking" my phone...Don't wanna brick it because I'm no rich man
Just out of curiosity; anyone using Japanese IME on their X1?
Okay...I got the Japanese IME installed and "kinda" working. What I mean by that is:
1. I can no longer use my Qwerty board
2. I can't "backspace" if I make any mistakes
3. My Optical pad is now disabled
Does anyone have a workaround to this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1429764#post1429764
check this link, there you find the answer ... you have to change some regestry-settings. .. bcz the layout is messed ... just take TotalCommander to do so and after that everything will just work nice ...

The IME_31J_F cab makes registry changes that are intended for JPN phones (not WWE) because the cab is extracted from original Japanese ROMs. If you look at the link in my post above, you'll see the reg settings you need to change back.
Again, you should make a backup because I don't have an X1 to test it personally. You might not need all of the reg edits, or a different combination of the WWE reg settings and JPN reg settings. But those settings work perfectly for the Touch Pro, so they should be a good start for the X1.

How is the japanese kanji handwriting recognition?
I just ordered a Xperia X1 and I really need to install japanese IME on it. Would really like to hear about those who tried that.

Thank for your answer.
I have 2 questions:
1-For kanji handwriting recognition do you have to write the strokes in the right order? That would be a real drawback for me since I don't know the stroke order of the that kanji I don't know!
2-And what do you mean by bundled? Is it included with the xperia X1? Where did you buy it?

àü-button doesn't seem to work..?

Hello! I have the english version of the X1, but until now, I have been able to use the àü-button, to make the danish special-letters; æ, ø, å...
But now, nothing happens when I try.. Have anyone an idea why..? It would be a great help, because I use the three letters a lot..

Did you install any keybord app, or anything prior to this happening?
sounds like an issue of keybord no being able to find the dictionary.

more like a case of installing a keyboard app that overrides the DLL registry that points to the DLL that provide such key functions.

i have the same issue.
dont know if it ever worked.
but i did install the blackstone VKeyboad.
could this be the problem?
Yes it could. I've tried to find a usable keypad to use for onehanded sms but each time I installed one, I lost my easy access to my special letters (æøå). I have a english version bought in Norway.

Uninstall Touch HD keyboard
Hi,
Had the exact same problem with my danish bought (english version) x1, but i uninstalled the touch HD keyboard, restarted X1, and it was back to normal. Its caused by an overwrite of the original keyboard dll. Explained in detail in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=447989&page=2
I hope someone is able to figure out a way for us to keep our au-key functionality in combination with the Touch HD keyboard, as it would be nice to have a one handed option.
regards
is it posible to copy the .dll
then install the hd keyboard.
then place the copy's .dll back
???

this won't work.
first of all, the DLL, is defined in the registry (I could have mispelled the registry path because this is off my memory)
ImeFile in \hklm\system\currentcontrolset\controlpanel\layouts\e0010409 (or a locale based on your ROM language)
So the default value of the registry is "Compime.dll"
when you install the HD keyboard CAB, it's the registry that gets overwritten ("T9ime.dll"), not the file. So keeping a copy of the DLL and recopy wouldn't help, since practically no files has been replaced except the registry.
You can retain the ascent key, etc though by reverting the registry to "CompIme.dll" after the HD cab installation. However, doing so is at the expense of HTC HD's own implementation of word completion and T9 function (so it renders T9 phone pad and compact qwerty SIP useless)
so if i would like to use the compact keypad of the HD without the T9 and word completion.
then i could change this and i would have this keypad and the au key funtioning?

well my raphael keyboard should not (i'm not sure as my x1 is at repair) but other stated this. and there is a keypad for portrait and sms with t9 support in it, and if im not wrong the hardware keyboard should have autocomplete in it. and as aplus the letters are bigger than the touch hd's
I have just installed the Touch Pro peypad-package, and it works very fine.. But again - I can not use the danish letters..
Is it not possible to get such a keypad-package and still be able to use special letters..? That would be really great..

dude, we talking about the ascent key, not the symbol key... I don't have problem with symbol key if I installed the Touchstone QWERTY keyboard SIP.
I don't think you can fix this problem (it's a side effect of trying to install another device's keyboard IME) but I would be more than happy to eat humble pie and be proven wrong

keyboard layout - change language

After many hours of thinking, have I for my first time installed a new spl and a win. mobile 6.5 ROM on my blackstone. Luckly it were easy, no problems, and it rocks However did I forget to have in mind that installing an english ROM would furthermore interfere with the keyboard layout language... :-( Someone who knows how to change the keyborad layout language from english to danish? I would appirciate any help becasue its very hard to write an email or sms without the 3 missing danish letters.

Moved to general discussion as not related to rom debelopment
If you hold each letter down on the keyboard you are usually given an option for alternative characters which may include these danish ones you refer to.
