I’ve been using an Ipaq hx2750 for over a year now, but feel a huge need of having a keyboard. Strongly considering the Wizard (the Qtek or K-Jam), I’m interested in finding out more about the ability to customize the keyboard layout to support Swedish characters (å, ä and ö).
Surfing to www.myqtek.com and choosing Swedish, brought me to the insight, that there is a Swedish version of the device. This means both Swedish keyboard and ditto OS. Since I’d prefer my OS in English, I wonder whether it is possible to change the normal WWE version’s keyboard mapping to match the picture found on this web site (which is the Swedish version of the device).
I’ve read about this keyboard mapper, but need to get confirmed that it can be done.
If it is possible to generate the mentioned Swedish characters on a “native” WWE Wizard's keyboard (without any patches or remapping), it would also be of interest and enough info for me to buy the English version.
On www.myqtek.com, I also found the following file, which was supposed the remap the keyboard to Swedish in case a hard reset was done on a device (however, this might only relate to units with the Swedish OS). The file is located here http://www.myqtek.com/downloadFile....dic_keyboard_1102.sa.cab&node=5040&media=5037.
If someone has a “clean unit” and don’t mind doing a Hard Reset to retrieve the English keyboard setting, I’m very interested in finding out whether the patch generates a Swedish keyboard map on an English unit as well.
I’ve spent quite a few hours scanning this forum on the mentioned issue, but without being able to narrow it down just to the keyboard remapping (most posters are interested in altering the whole ROM into another language as well).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or comments!
Best regards,
Bateman
I cant answer directly to your question, but in finland there is few shops, which are selling qtek 9100 wwe with swedish keyboard. Its little bit more expensive than wweOS/wwe keyb (something like 10-15euros).
Other product which you should look is Skandinavisk tastatur

Thanks for the reply! The suggsted link changes the soft keyboard into Swedish. Additionally to change the slide-out keyboard's layout into Swedish, simply run the small program found on www.myqtek.se. The small application can be removed like any other program through "Remove programs" in Start->Settings.
I now have a WWE Qtek9100 with Swedish layout on the hardware keyboard.

I recently bought a Qtek s100 and have just tried it out... I don't know much about this kind of stuff, and now I've got a bunch of questions about settings abilities and upgrading etc.
I would really appreciate if someone could explain a few things for me.. since some of my question concern swedish settings and stuff, it would be great if someone from sweden would be that kind!
I would prefer to talk to someone over icq (55988176), but if you guys prefer I use the forum I'm okay with that...
My first questions:
Is it possible to write å,ä and ö while using the transcriber?
Is there any way to replace the english dictionary with a swedish one?
I'm also wondering about all the folders, what different folders used for? (it seems it's not a good idea to rename or delete certain folders)
Thanks for any help!
mikael
Swedish is possible if you pay for it, www.handit.se i think working on an program how let you write åäö. Here is from there homesite.
IT COST
SEK 745 kr "106$" for an translation so fuc...ing expensive, hope it will come on DC++.
Dont tuch any folder at all. It have to be left as it is.

In transcriber it doesn't seem to be possible. However, in "Letter recognizer" there is provision for such characters. However, from testing it myself, the only one which seems to work reliably is å. Do test it yourself - could just be that my handwriting is poor.
Phatware produces a transcriber replacement called Calligrapher 7.4, which DOES have provision for Scandinavian characters if you buy an add-in pack.
http://www.phatware.com/calligrapher/index.html
http://www.phatware.com/calligrapher/cgrnorwegian.html
There is also this: http://www.zicorp.com/decumaalphabetic.htm
One the website where I found out about it, someonesaid it was superb in terms of recognizing scandinavian characters. However, the person also said that when they uninstalled the demo, it totally wrecked their OS install with regard to inputs. So be aware of that.
On www.smartphone.no there is some discussion of Scandinavian characters. There is a download there for a free Scandinavian keybaord to replace the one in your input options. But it is only keybaord input, it does not change the transcriber, still.

As for the user dictionary, I have been looking to find out if it is possible to change - or at least edit it - and nothing so far.
Please post here if you get more info......
So, no good news it seems... A way to edit the dictionary would be really great!
Anyone who can shortly describe the purpose of different folders? (would be nice to know)..
New questions:
First, there seems to be some kind of problem syncing the calendar with outlook xp... I've got my schedule in a vcalendar file which i import to outlook... everything seems ok in outlook, but when i sync it with my s100, every appointment is set as "all day event", and also the dates doesn't match (some appointments end up a day to late).. This is really annoying!
Second, is it possible to have different colors for different categories in the calendar, like in the calendar in symbian os?
Third, can I change the path to where pictures and videos from the camera are stored? I have set the camera to store on my storage card.. It creates a folder called something like 200502050001... I would rather store my pictures in a folder called Pictures...
You can get scandinavian character layout for the builtin keyboard for free from:
http://www.idedata.no/support/support.asp?ID=195
It has different layouts for Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Works like a charm!
Excellent. Now the keyboard is truly usable. I just wish Transcriber would work.
I was thinking about installing the German version to see whether it works sufficiently well for Swedish. Has anyone tried this?

Calligrapher (which must have something in common with Transcriber, since the welcome screens are almost identical) has a swedish addon that works pretty well:
http://www.phatware.com/calligrapher/
Calligrapher costs $30 and the Swedish addon around $15. It works quite well, but the recognition relies heavily on the Swedish dictionary, so since I write messages in Swedish 50% of the time and Finnish 50% of the time, I've noticed that almost all Swedish words are correctly recognized, but Finnish words with scandinavian characters are rarely correct. I've started using a normal soft keyboard instead, since I realized I will never ever be able to handwrite faster than I write with a keyboard.
I've had some ideas about developing a keyboard map resembling FITALY for Finnish and/or Swedish. Fitaly has been created by analyzing a LOT of English words and putting the most common characters close together and also the characters most likely to be written in pairs next to each other.
The map would be completely different for Finnish and Swedish though and there's a learning curve, trying to absorb a new layout after so many years of qwerty. If I have time I'll give it a shot.

Hi,
I just purchased a Qtek S200. Since I'm in a french speaking area, I got it in french, which is fine ... except for the virtual keyboard which is now an AZERTY.
I'm trying to understand how to swith it to QWERTZ.
As far as I could understand by reading different web pages, I would have to change the HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload key. However, it seems that I also need corresponding dlls...
Any practical clue on how to change the keyboard layout would be most welcome.
Thanks,
Olivier
(Needless to say that changing the regional settings in the control panel didn't help ...)
I got one in qwerty and want it in azerty.
Can you send me the dll?
maybe I can get it t change

aarg! what was the name of theremoved program pliz ?
I would love to use ENG roms but I can't because of this freaking QWERTY keyboard, so if I can change it to AZERTY it would be great !!
hi there, first post on the forum and need this 1 question answered before i make the decision to purchase an x1!
what i need to know is, is it possible to flash an english x1 with a swedish rom so that i can use the keyboard layout in the same way that the characters are positioned on the swedish models? obviusly it will take a bit of getting used to knowing were the characters which go in the same place as the åäö buttons do on the swedish phones but i dont think it should be a problem.
or is there another way of getting the åäö buttons shortcutted somehow?
thanks
If you flash a Swedish ROM, you will get a Swedish keymap straight away, I should think

In your windowsfolder there are txt.file called sym.0409. This txt.file decides wich alternate letter comes up using the àü-butten. Look at that and you will see how you can alter the row of letters to your liking. I did it with my english version X1. I'm norwegian so I used of course my special letters. See this for more information......(I guess you are swedish so you will understand norwegian): http://forum.smartmobil.no/viewtopic.php?f=97&t=10878&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=15
Good luck!
After many hours of thinking, have I for my first time installed a new spl and a win. mobile 6.5 ROM on my blackstone. Luckly it were easy, no problems, and it rocks However did I forget to have in mind that installing an english ROM would furthermore interfere with the keyboard layout language... :-( Someone who knows how to change the keyborad layout language from english to danish? I would appirciate any help becasue its very hard to write an email or sms without the 3 missing danish letters.

Moved to general discussion as not related to rom debelopment
If you hold each letter down on the keyboard you are usually given an option for alternative characters which may include these danish ones you refer to.

just keep pressing the letters and you will find your "å" and "ø" (keep pressing "a" for "å" and "o" for "ø" etc.. let me know if you find someone who has fixed the layout
great thx! is is possible to get the danish t9 ?
i would also like to see a danish t9 like on the htc touchpro2
You can find a Danish T9 here:
http://www.info2us.dk/2009/09/danish-et9-to-the-htc-blackstone/
I do not have a danish layout for the keyboard. If anyone finds one, I'll upload that aswell.
hey, anyone got a clue on how to get norwegian letters on the keyboard?? unfortunatly i'm not dumb enough to pay a bunch for it.....
I would gladly pay for norwegian keybord. Anyone?
This was the first thing I tried on my HD2 as my girlfriend is norwegian! if you hold down the letters 'a' and 'o' then all the other variations will should up (æ,ø,å)
yeah, that's fair enough but those are so common letters that it takes a century just to send an sms....
try the compact qwerty keyboard
i just think the full qwerty is better, i really thought there was a norwegian version out there, that's an idea for those of you that writes your own programs!
Search for Fingerkeyboard 2 on this forum.
It has a bunch of languagelayouts, Norwegian beeing one of them.
It's free and is my standard choice for keyboard.
