Hi,
Can someone please tell me what their default settings are in the storage manager area of the registry - in particular the fatfs key
Mine is set at 4096 with caching enabled - but i want to reset it to the defaults but cant remember what they were!! (thinking is was 0 cache with cache disable but want to be sure)
I have a M5000 if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance.

Hi!
Anybody tried changing the below entry to avoid having low storage memory?
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content]
"CacheLimit"= 14848
After I changed the 14848 to 8192 and performs a soft reset later the figure of 14848 (ie. about 14MB) still remains
Thanks
did you reset too quickly, perhaps ?
after you change the registry and commit the change (make sure to click OK/whatever), wait a minute or so.. -then- perform the soft reset. Otherwise your change may not be stored in the registry.
RE
After settng to a new figure of 8192 I left it for 20min before carrying out a soft reset
It still remains the same at 14848
Anybody can try on his Universal to see whether the value can be changed?
Thanks
Just tried several times
Even changed voicecmd.exe to sddialer.exe
After reset, shows sddialer.exe, so reg change has stuck, but the pie cache has reset back to 14848
RE
According to the article below it seems that the cache can be disabled by setting the value to zero (0)
The purpose is to limit the no. of writes to your flash memory so that its life will be extended. However, that would mean you'll need to re-download pictures and things when you go back to web pages

A smaller size, say 8192, would be nice rather than the 14848 (about 14MB) size
You cant disable the cache and you cant change de size. By the moment the only thing you can do is to change the cache directory (to the SD, for example) but it slows IE. I think the best solution is to use a little program that cleans the cache when you reset the pda....
is there a way to reread the registry after having changed some values without rebooting the device?
thanks for any hints
wolfgang
reread???
Do you mean setting it back to the previous or default settings?
no - I want to activate the changes, e.g. I changed the background image (a .bmp file, not a .tsk file) through the registry settings and want to activate it without rebooting the device.
Wolfgang
Depends on the kind of setting. Some are immediate, like basehue, others require you to force a system change notification (eg by going into control panel) and some require reboot.

vijay,
thanks for the info. So I guess that I have to reboot the device, but I'll give the system change a try

ok so im running wm6 and im noticing some memory issues now that emoze is installed.. so im trying to save memory somehow.. i opened up registrywizard and see glyph cache and font cache.. now when i click on the ? mark for glyph it says that its the font cache.. but why would 2 options be using the same thing? i mean which one will i get better performance out of or do i need to tweak both options? help would be great. thanks
Hi,
I either use the Xperia Tweal, Advanced Config or direct Registry manupilation ShowSim=0 but all I do, after a reset they are back again and showsim is back to 1. What the hack is changing my setting back to some "default" after a regular reset?
Cheers - Susan
In Opera advanced setting.....
Every time I check the tick box's to enable Java and cookies, and setup a cache of 2Mb and ok it, I go back they are unticked again, and the cache size reverts to 0Kb!!
Whats going on??
Cheers!
