Is there any suggestion for software like the one below for the MDA, that will lock the ppc and ask for some pin before getting access to the data on there.

Can't the built-in security feature satisfy you?
With tje stock locking application it interferes with the calls coming in and sometimes i endup missing calls...
i never had issues with using the ask for code and timeout set to 0
and missing calls
you're not required to type in the code to pick up the phone

Is there a way to programatically disable the phone button?
Our software has the option to lock the system down so that users cannot access anything except for the running program. In this mode a user cannot access the startmenu to use the phone but they can still use the physical button on the device to start up the phone app - something which in ceratin situations that we are trying to prevent.
Are you wishing to actually use the phone system in your application? Are you trying to disable calls out or does the phone screen interfere with the application.? If you set a pin number for phone application it actually stops the phone from searching for a signal and so renders the phone useless, however the screen is still available which prompts for a pin. I dont think there is a way of remapping the button either which is a pain in the ass.
We want to prevent the user from using the phone (our software only uses GPRS) as some of out clients don't want their employees to use the phone at all. I have come across the pin setting before but we were hoping to prevent the phone app from appearing.
Additionally, if the pin is set then GPRS will not work either until the pin is entered, which will then give access to the phone anyway.
Exactly. Is it possible to activate call barring but still alow gprs when required.?
I may be wrong, but I don't think that will work as I assume call barring would block GPRS as well. We require the GPRS session to be active continuously as devices will be comunicated to and from on a regular basis.
I have also found that if the phone is used, our software is unable to use the modem to re-establish a GPRS connection until the device is reset (the NetDialer keeps on failing with 'Incorrect information was specified').
Generally none of our clients want to use the devices as phones anyway, but we would like to be able to prevent their employees racking up huge phone costs (especially as our normal data costs are less then 50 cents a day - any phone calls would increase this cost dramatically).
I have been experimenting with lineGenerateTone to try and get some kind of custom sound onto a call automatically. It always fails and I think its because the hardware (and then unimodem) can't do it. Making digit tones with lineGenerateDigits works fine.
My question is... Is there any ppc that uses something other than unimodem?
Or can the modem driver of a ppc phone be updated with a third party one?
If lineGenerateTone worked and could be called frequently to update the tone corresponding with tones generated by reading a wave, that would be a solution to providing automated response from a ppc without accessing the wave api(that dose not work).
I'd like to implement a modem then thus you can surf the net over a voice line without having to pay GRPS charges
hi all,
i got a very annoying "feature" in the O2 Cosmo(T-Mobile Dash). The incoming call will be blocked(heard busy tone) if the GPRS is in transmission. I was complained by many friends.
To my understanding, there's a setting in some phones to enable both GSM/GPRS concurrent connections. Is there such setting in Windows Mobile?
My ROM is 1.13.207.2, RADIO is 4.1.13.28_02.63.90
i tried to refersh its ROM, but don't know how to CID unlock. the "RUU_Excalibur_SPL-1.11_UpgradeOnly.exe" on the server has no luck for me, still "Invalid model ID".
can anythone show light on me?
thank you

I think microsoft released a patch for that: i'll try find it on google for you. can you explain what configuration you used?
I think the 'patch' you need is called 3G.
I have the exact same problem and I opened a thread on it as well.
Read here.
The conclusion we reached was that this is a network, not phone dependent problem.
yeah never happent to me ever
thanks for all the replies.
My previous phone is O2 XDA Mini S(Wizard). I used that one to receive push mail provided by GoodLink, which requires GPRS always on. I didn't have such issue with that, at least no complain from my friends.
That's why i am wondering something wrong with the RADIO configuration. I didn't make any specific change to my new O2 XDA Cosmo(Excalibur).
best regards
And back to my memory.
I used to have the classical Ericsson T39. There was a setting to enable GSM incoming call during GPRS transmission(cannot remember the exact name). By enable that, i can still receive incoming call, and the GPRS connection will auto resume after the call.
Is there similar setting for Windows Mobile?
There is not as far as I've ever known. I've used smartphones that determined which was blocked and which was not based on which application was in use at the time. That is, if you were actively using IE or some other network app, phone calls would go straight to voice mail. If a non-network app was front and center at the time, the network would be disconnected and the phone would ring. That (and the SE settings mentioned above which I saw on my SE phones too) showed that it was a phone setting made by the carrier. I'd hope there's a little more intelligence behind it than just "voice trumps network" but if there is, I couldn't tell you what determines which gets through and when.
I've found that it's based on the amount of data being transmitted at the time of the (attempted) call. For example, high-bandwith usage such as media streaming will lead to the incoming phone call being blocked/diverted most of the time, whereas sporadic usage (eg. PING, or loading a very simple web page) has allowed a call to come in, temporarily disabling GPRS. GPRS can never be used during a phone call.
I want my phone to block accidentally outgoing calls. It seems the only way this can be done is by locking the SIM with a pin. The only way I can find is to go into flightmode and then reconnect the phone. Is there no faster way to activate this locking system automaticaly after every call?

Click to collapse
locking the sim will block incoming calls as well.. is this what you want?
you can try s2u2 to lock the device.. or throttlelock.. have you tried those?
No, incoming calls shouldn't be locked.
ThrottleLock and similar software solutions lock the pda. But I want to work on my contacts without accidentaly activate a outgoing call.
Hi,
I bought recently a galaxy tab for a company. I took a data plan with my operator to allow Internet browsing with it. The sole problem is : I can call with the tab but should not be able to. I called my customer service and they told me they can't desactivate the line without desactivating the data part with it (noobs!??!!). This they will bill me every call as extra communication (believe me, it makes phone calls VERY expensive). The tab will be handed to people we do not trust a lot.
So I would like to know if there is a way to prevent users to call with the tab without needing a complex operation to do it (like reinstalling the whole tab).
Thanks a lot for your help on this one...
Ok, I will respond to myself hoping it might help someone. After looking a lot into this, I found that you can do just that by going into the phone settings, calls, fixed number and by activating the feature. you can add allowed calls and it blocks every call not in the list. You set specific PIN (different from the one used to unlock the phone) to activate the feature and it will be needed to add/remove elements in the authorized list as well as to disable the feature.
It is great!
Woops, this seems to block the connexion to the 3G too. Didn't notice before because it was already connected but if you disconnect for a X or Y reason, then it won't work again... That is a shame...
