I just figured out why my Universal (JASJAR) starts ringing after 3-4 rings ...
I had the ringtone (MP3) on the storage card, so everytime the jasjar wakes up from a standby, it has to access the SD card and get the tone playing. So it takes like 4 rings time to do that.
Once I moved it to the internal storage, there is no delay what so ever !!
Anyway, just thought to share with with you guys, if you don't know already..
Thank you for sharing but this is old news.
This topic has been covered many times on the forum....

Hi,
i have encountered the following problem .. when i try to call my phone, my mda pro rings with 3 or 4 seconds delay .. so .. it happens that callers drop the line because they think i am busy .. just before the first ring of the mda pro.
This happens with MP3s or WAVs - no difference.
Anyone else with this experience ?

Do u have any Call Divert?...
How about trying some of the midi file comes as a ringtones by default?
Got the same problem on my wifes MDA Pro and on occasion on my Jasjar.
No,
i donĀ“t have call divert. And .. i tried midi, wav and mp3. All the same delay.

! have around a 1 ring delay - say 1 full second
it happens to me when my device is off and only if mp3 ringtone is in storage card. if the mp3 ringtone is in "my documents" no problem...
Well, it's been a while and everyone's been tweaking their universal, so, have you tried calling yourself and see how many rings it takes before your universal really rings ?
After all the tweaking, it still takes about 2 rings before my Exec actually plays the ring tone. Has anyone been able to shorten this lag time further ?
When my Jasjar is still powered On it rings while I am still hearing the 1st call tone through the receiver of the telephone I have used to call up my Jasjar.
When the Jasjar has powered itself Off, then it is no later than the mid of the 2nd call tone and most of the time just before the 2nd call tone has started playing.
By the way I have done no tweaking in this regard.
Kind regards
Same here, before the 2nd call, acceptable for me.
I am using a device flashed to Jasjar ROM 1.13.53 WWE, Radio 1.04.02 and no extended Rom installed.
regards,
Ruud
You guys seem to get the ringing quite fast
I read somewhere that having many contacts can slow down the phone and therefore increase the number of rings before the exec actually plays the ring tone. I have about 230 contacts with average of 2 tel numbers per contact. Can I ask how many contacts you guys have ?
I'm just trying to figure how to make my exec ring sooner ...
I copied the choice of ringtone directly to my Device/Windows/Rings.
so far it has been ringing almost immeidately.
I have about 100 contacts with an average of 2 telephone numbers per contact.
Regards
Gave an answer on the nr. of rings above, I have about 1.300 contacts with average 2-3 numbers, mail, address.
Calendar is sync with ALL meetings, so also between 1000-2000 entries, I do not recall. I further sync notes and files, but have no tasks.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for sharing the info guys ...
Just found something odd after some testing ... if I use the "Ringer.wav" that comes default with the Exec, it rings just before the second ring starts ... but if I select the "Fantasy.wma" (also default on Exec), the ring only starts after the second ring ... If i use the "Windows Default.wav", the ring also starts at the end of the second ring ...
It appears the more complicated the ring tone, the longer it takes to start ringing ...
mine's varied...i've been using the same ringtone and it can take anywhere from 1 ring to 6 or 7... the varying in lag times has totally lost me. i'm on an old ROM however. could be the issue?
My Dopod 900 rings after 1st call tone when it is ON and on standby mode it rings after 2nd call tone.
My Dopod 900 exactly the same.

my imate (no extended rom features whatsoever), spb pp, diary and weather, using msvc, about 20 meg ram standard boot up.
exactly on the second ring when opened up and screen active.
immediately when i called again the second time to type this email with the lid closed. i assume this is cause the phone and everything was still active cause all i did was close it which really only deactivates the screen.
on the second ring when i turned the device and closed the lid.
so in summary, and i generally dont have much of a problem in this area is at the beginning of the second ring.
I dont have memory card readers running and somebody indicated that this is also a cause of lags.
I always lost a lot of calls,I cant hear anyting for 10 or more seconds with jasjar closed(lcd inside),can someone help me?More serious problems with blth auriculars....is it possible that bluetooth connection is obstructed by low GPRS or UMTS signal?
there are many existing topics on how to resolve these problems.
if you search, you will find.
jasjar delay in answering - my solution
I had the same problem. The device would wake up on the first ring, but then the caller would hear exactly six more rings before the device actually started ringing. Needless to say, a big problem, as few callers today wait that long.
Anyway, I tried all of the advice on this forum, but eventually solved it for myself. My particular problem was copying Microsoft's .net CF2 to my storage card, which involves adding the storage card to a registry path entry. Everytime the device woke up it would try to read the CF2 files from the storage card and hence big delays. I deleted the registry entry pointing to the storage card and voila, device now rings in two caller rings everytime, which is adequate.
If CF2 is not your problem, I would be looking for any constantly active program (ie: Today screen, task launcher etc) that is on your storage card and either copy them to device memory or get rid of them.
Hey
. I have an XDA2i. The problem that I am encountering, is to do with the ringer. When I recieve a call, the tone comes on, but it cuts out for a split second every 3 seconds (i've timed it, it's every 3 secs) which makes for a very broken up melody lol!
The onboard sound is working fine and all tones play fine in the sounds and settings window, and when txts come through it's fine too... seems to just be incoming telephone calls.
can anyone help me with this problem please??

Good vibrations...?
Hey Bane,
Do you have the ringer set to "Ring and Vibrate"? The vibration at times could interfere with the ring-tone, and would explain the 3 second thing. Another option is the tones sample rate, is this an mp3 ring-tone? I have noticed that the driver to play incoming call tones does not support high quality files, try down sample the tone and see if you can hear a difference.

RE: Good vibrations
The phone is set to ring and vibrate, but I have tried it every which way... same problem. And I know that it isn't a result of the file, as it is a problem which has manifested within the past 2 weeks. I have been using the same tone for the past few MONTHS. Quite odd, the file incidently is a WAV file also.
I'm gonna try a hard reset when i get the itme. ( can't remembe how long the backup battery takes to deplete to give me a proper hard reset, but I'll give it a go)
Thank you very much for the tips mate, I had great hopes that the answer WOULD be one of the few you suggested, but no such luck

SORTED!
Hello there. For anyone reading this topic who had the same problem as me.... I eventually found the time to make a back up on my SD card and perform a hard reset, and this has sorted out the problem! weird though it was... a hard reset works

Hi !
Has somebody found some solution to reduce the delay for the ringtones for blackstone ?
I've installed the second cab here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258109) as well as write in the registery (av0pw0r), but i can't reduce the delay under (almost) 2 ring tones, eventough i use a *.wma file.
I've also tried to play on HD tweak (1.7 option), but this does not change anything...
This is very annoying me, i've already lost some calls.
I haven"t tried yet a cooked ROM, but i wonder if this would change something
Please help
make sure the ringtone is on the phone and not card. That helped me a lot.
tks for your answer.
But well, i use (for the moment) the "Alarm-Classic.wav" under windows\rings, so i think it's ok from this side
How much delay do u have ?
hi.
using wma ringtones I get a response on my HD in about 1 ring after a soft reset. From the second call on the HD rings at about half a ring to the caller.
three rings from to wake from soft off.
but i forgot to say that if the phone is already "on", the delay is about 1/2 half ringtone, which is acceptable ! .
It seems that the additionnal delay (about 1 sec.) comes from the phone to go from "standby" to "on"
I've always had a delay with every HTC I've had (C500, C600. E650, Touch HD) using standard and custom ROMs with ringtones as WAV's and MP3's on the device and the storage card. I got used to it ages ago and if the phones on my desk can now predict an incoming call before it rings
Hi,
I was also searching for a solution on the ring tone delay issue. Guess that is a winmobile thing.
However there is no delay if you switch off the ring-tone and enable vibration mode only. That is weired behavior of the phone cause why cannot the ring-tone sound as fast as the vibration comes in vibmode only? And why does the vibration comes as late as the ring-tone when in combi-mode?
I am afraid there is no solution so far...
Regs!
this delay is something you'll have to learn to live with, unfortunately. at least in europe people seem to be finding loud and/or dodgy ringtones not very nice, and when dealing with the wiindows mobile vibrate mode is the one to go for.
another suggestion is to set up a caller tune, people are more likely to wait longer when they're listening to music.
ive found i can get it to ring at 1 ring if i turn off caller id pictures on s2u2
Yeah, the operating system does all the checks and clearing up before handling the call to prevent dropping, the way WM handles things, you can't get way from the delay, slowing the CPU with app like a nuedynamicclock worsens it. Well I notice a call before it rings if it is on

All my wm devices have had this issue. My blackstone lights up from sleep a good 2 to 3 sec. before the first ring. I use the old phone ring tone and have four fairly well spaced rings before vm kicks in. I just count the rings as I get to the phone and it has become a non issue. The hd tweek for it seemed not to have an effect btw. Also I'm with t-mo usa and using their code I have my ringtime set to max rings. which is 30 sec. before vm.
