Spontaneous hard resets? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi All,
Since I have my T-Mobile MDA (MDAII/QTEK2020) I have been experiencing several spontaneous hard resets. Very uncomfortable to say the least..... :?
Did anyone experience the same problem and what can be done to prevent this?
Help me please!
Thanks!
BTW: I already make daily backups of my MDA just to prevent data loss, however it is still very annoying when a hard reset occurs, as at that time I loose all my data incl. contacts and a restore takes approx. half an hour to complete.

maybe a newer rom would solve the problem

Have had the same problem starting today. In fact, it seems the phone will hard reset itself every time power is turned off, even after auto- poweroff. Extremely annoying!

It's quite a common problem (at least, i've got the same problem ). If you're running on WM2003, updating to WM5 might solve the problem, i've heard WM2003 can be quite a ***** when it comes to the battery power and hard resetting.

Hard reset inevitable?

Hmpf, I'm major pi**ed off, mates. Last night - while reading an eBook - my XDA2 just stopped working. Soft resets didn't do any good - the process always stopped at the first O2 screen and nothing then happened anymore. So I ended up doing a hard reset!
OK, now it's back, but I like to know what heppened and how I can prevent iy happening again... I think it may be related to the 32 processes limitation... I am running the ScaryBear tools to kill double-listed processes, but I haven't done a soft reset for a week or so before last night...
What do you guys think. How frequently do you soft reset your device?
Removing the battery sometimes helps.

Unattended random soft resets? Help!

So I'm a stickler for stability and it drives me nuts (we all have our weird problems ) when things don't run stably.
i.e. I take very good care of my Windows XP PC, it's been running for 12 weeks straight now without needing a reboot, power down, nothing. Rock solid. I love it.
I'm running the Cing 8125 with the new QTEK AKU2 ROM. It's been running pretty well but I'm having the same problem I had witht he original Cingular ROM.
For whatever strange reason and ONLY when I'm not using the 8125, it seems it will soft reset which makes it impossible to pinpoint the cause. I know it has soft-reset because
a) My memory is back at like 23MB free which is what I have after soft-reset.
b) None of my apps are running anymore - duh!
c) Best of all, I have a today plug-in that keeps track of uptime so I know EXACTLY when the soft-reset happened.
I can't understand what would trigger it, when I'm actually using it, the device is fast and solid. I'm not running any crazy apps that I would think could lead to this unstability.
How long have you gone without a soft-reset? What's bizzare is the most recent soft reset happened this morning at exactly 1:00AM!!!! What are the odds of a random reset happening exactly at 1AM? No, I don't have any notifications, alarms or anything around that time.
Here's the uptime meter I'm using if you want to try it out:
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/uptimemeter.shtml
I wish it would soft-reset when I was using it so I could at least know what was causing it.
The same is happening to me, although it soft resets once every 2 weeks or so. I must say I turn off the device every night, but it has happened to me 3 o 4 times since I installed de Qtek AKU2 ROM.
Any solution?
I mentioned this once before on here. I catch mine doing it at night sometimes (in the day its usually in my pocket so I don't know if it does it there).
I've only seen it a few times, maybe once every 2 weeks.
The odd thing is, that when restarting after it's random soft reset, it doesn't require me to enter my pin code. It's almost as if it knows that it's been naughty and was hoping I wouldn't notice
Maybe it's a "feature" of WM5??

SPB backup cannot SR

Hey guys,
of course AS 4.1 is rubbish, so I found a good alternative in SPB backup. However, it's supposed to soft reset after backup (I scheduled a daily backup), but sometimes it just hangs the OS. When this happens I cannot get any incoming calls or messages until I SR myself.
Anyone has that too?
Thanks!
At first I was having this same problem. I'd wake up every morning (setting my phone to backup at 1am) with the thing completely hung up and almost out of battery power.
I switched to having it not soft reset, had that run for a couple of days, and then I switched it back to soft reset. In the 3 days since I've done that it hasn't hung up - and has successfully soft reseted itself.
I don't know exactly what the problem was.

Thanks for sharing man. I had the same drill, (a few days without SR, then back again) but after a while it started to hang again. I think there might be a registry solution for this or a software conflict to resolve, but that's beyond my PDA knowledge. I was hoping the experts here would save the day...
Me too
I'm having the same problem (and alas started another thread before I found this one) and have turned off the reset feature as well. I'm using skschema to perform the soft reset.
Hello, guys!
Could some of you post a bug report about that at http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/backup/askquestion.html?en? SPb team always answer very promptly. and they will for sure fix it in the next release.
i also have this problem.
no SR problem here on AKU2. I'm running the Qtek rom.

TyTN, WM 6.5, Accidential Hard-Resets

Hi!
I have a weird problem with my Hermes. But no idea to solve this.
Sometimes my PDA starts to work a little weird, for example - objects in Pocket Outlook are unavailable, call registry doesn't work, ActiveSync on PDA causes error which cannot be fixed.
And after soft-reset (turn off and turn on) WM is being hard reset. I'm using QuePPC's WM builds and any of them has the the same weird thing. But I'm not so sure if doesn't happen on any ROM.
Whatever - sometimes only little parts of data are cleared - last time the PDA reset, some programs are still available. Earlier (a few months ago) I had hard reset as I described but I used stylus to reset before customization began. My data was still present. And I completely have no idea what's coming on.
There are a few weeks when everything works fine and then PDA's data gets crashed.
Is that a software problem? Or Flash ROM semiconductor? Any ideas on this?
Cheers!
Flash a stock rom then reflash the wm6.5 yo want... It has something to do with memory allocation and flashing the stock rom 1st seems to fix this...
Done so, hope it helps to my TyTN.
Whatever, big thanks and have tasty beer; I've totally overlooked such a thing.
