Is there a reg key to reduce the size of the sip panel/menubar in the jasjar
tia
ed
In short....No.
You could have a go with the VGA hack though, that'd do the trick...?
SPB Tips and Tricks has this as an option, it is not free though.
found this
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip|MenuBarHeight
changing the dword does nothing though!
The SIP panel is one size only. You can't resize it - it would leave holes on the sides. The only way is if you run your device at VGA resolution, which makes EVERYTHING smaller.
The sizes in the top and bottom are similarly hard coded in Shell.exe. The devices are supposed to look a certain way on set resolutions. It's not like the menubars in Windows that you can reduce or enlarge, unfortunately.
It is sad, though, so lose so much potential space on the screen. That is why some people prefer to run VGA devices in the hacked VGA modes.
Curious as to what this app does and how well it works. Anyone have a screenshot of this running.
Thanks
JM
I use TrueVGA and it works well. You can see all Icons only the CommManager is blurred.
Please attend the the correct order of installation.

Can I ask why you use TrueVGA (and not OzVGA)?
I've not tried either on the Ameo, and before I go for one, I was curious if anyone who has tried both knew of a reason to go for one instead of the other...

There are some problems with OzVga. For example, few Icons are missing.
Greets
I tried installing the files above, as OzVGA had always been somewhat a mixed bag of giddiness and disappointment for me.
In the end, I've had to uninstall TrueVGA as well, mainly because my signal meters and start menu icon etc etc would not show. I installed in the correct order and yet still nothing.
As a seasoned XDA-er, is there a trick I'm unwittingly missing?
Cheers
Ant
didnt lose my signal icon, but the one telling me if its G or 3G, connected to HSDPA etc seems to come and go now, rather than always be there as expected.
other than that, and some of the settings pages being messed up, works nicely.
Yeah, for my case, my data connection icon always display itself as trying to connect to a WiFi network even though that's not true. Some of the settings screens are badly messed up, as you have mentioned.
I have another query: does the Side Display works in true VGA mode?
I tried to attach the keyboard to the screen but nothing comes up.
The Keyboard did not work. I use the Resco Keyboard it is much better than the original.
Oh, I wasn't referring to the software keyboard input. I mean, when you attached the hardware keyboard onto the screen of the Athena, there will be one strip of visible space of the screen that shows some status like time, messages etc.
It works in normal VGA mode, but I cannot get the display in true VGA mode.

The "one strip of visible space of the screen" works ok in a true VGA mode in mine device. You should not attach but close by the keyboard the screen. Sometimes it doesn't show the white strip, but try to move a little bit the keyboard, because it reacts to by sencors to magnets on the keyboard.
Yeah, you're right. I need to move the keyboard around until the display comes on. Thanks!

My Comm Manager, phone pad, Connection icon (E (edge), etc) and password screen don't display properly. Did you have these issues and if so, how did you fix them?
Also, what did you use to create your theme? I want to create a new theme for the newer resolution.
Thanks in advance.
When I last used real VGA mode it was on my Universal.. Again there were icon problems, but on this very forum there were VGAFILES packs that had file to put in the windows directory that replaced the missing icons.
I cant remember the exact details, but I suggest people having problems look through the Universal forum for VGA info as there was a LOT there.
Hope this helps.
I have all about VGA screen's file for my universal. But since i still waiting for my athena, i can't decided wich file is needed. Just icon or something?
Is anyone using SPB Mobile Shell with any of the VGA apps? If I have it loaded on the today screen, the pda locks up when it tries to dispay the Today screen. The only fix thus far is to remove it from the Today screen.
Thanks

yes u are right the pda locks when using SPB Mobile shell. i have a question about the keyboard how to use it because in true VGA mode i see NO keyboard its white space with no letters and also can someone confirm if resco keyboard can be used in trueVGA mode?
I´am using the Resco keyboard and it works fine.
i want to increase the softkey size in VGA mode so i can push the buttuns with my fingers easier is this possible ?
I feel the same about this. In many applications, the buttons are just too small in VGA mode. Would be nice if there is a way to bring it back to the size used in QVGA.
But, wait, why don't we simply toggle back to QVGA mode? The internet browser, which is VGA aware, could display exactly the same amount of data (choose small font in QVGA = choose large font in VGA). Same goes for excel and word as both of these applications are already VGA aware. In that way, the taskbar and menu buttons could remain big, which is my preferred size for them. Most of the other applications (phone, games, settings, activesync, calculator, camera, music players, pocket mechanics, etc simply looks way way better in QVGA, as the buttons and fonts look more proportionate and undistorted.
The only place not VGA aware, and would be nice if it is, is the today desktop and when you start program, or go to the setting screen. Not enough icons could appear on the screen without scrolling. Another one if the file explorer. Then there is the indexes of documents before getting into excel and word (would be nice if at that point we could already have zoom features). These are the places that I like true VGA to kick in.
Is there a way to toggle between VGA and nonVGA without a reset? If we can toggle that like the screen orientation, it would be real nice.
well a lot of prorgrams arent VGA aware... like text messaging outlook email etc. or atleast it doesnt seem to be... and as far as the internet explorer goes you may downsize the font but resolution still plays an important part
anyways i looked around in the registry and i couldnt find any settings anyone have any insight?

Sorry mate not as far as I know either.
VJToggleToday II can alter the size of the Today screen softkeys.
It could probably be hacked up to change any windows' softkeys, but I haven't thought about that yet, it's an inelegant solution.

hmm how would you go about this ?
Hi all,
does anybody know if there's a way to quickly change between landscape & portrait on the Trinity - or to set up a hot key to do so?
Thanks.
Of course there is. For instance, install SPB Pocket Plus and assign Rotate Screen Left or Rotate Screen Right to one of Trinity's buttons. There are actually many applications that offer screen rotating function.
You don't need any tool. Just use the normal WM5 settings to assign new functions to key 1 (voice recording) and key 2 (camera). One of the selections is "<Rotate screen>". The assigning of "<Rotate screen>" to the "voice recording" key was one of first things I changed in the Trinity settings.
What about on the screen
...thanks for that, but I kind of like those keys for the camera and sound recording. Is there any way you can put a shortcut on the Today screen to perform the same task?
In Today screen there is by default an icon to rotate the screen!
Icon?
I can't find a default icon on the Today screen for changing screen orientation - can you tell me what it looks like and where it should be?
Thanks

This is part of the HTC-plugin. It should be installed on your device if you have an unbranded Trinity by HTC. It includes a battery indicator and icons for the light settings, the comm manager and the rotation. Those four icons should be in a line somewhere on your today screen.
Exactly.
Starting from left to right I have:
Battery status - Screen orientation - Comm. Manager - Light adjustment
In particular the screen orientation icon is the one with the picture of the P3600 and the stylus pointing its screen
ah!..found it - i could have sworn the screen orientation icon was for something else. Thanks to all.
Marble world 2 worked in full screen onece now the bottom is always chopped off??
why do some full screen apps sometimes get "chopped" off at the bottom / top its odd.
i cant make nester work on tp2 atall yes it loads but again chopped off at bottom would not landscape and tp2 would not allow me to assign keyboard keys to controll it i attempted to configure the controls many times to no avail
the sims 2 says only works in landscape mode pls change screen oriantation and try again; did this to no avail it switches to portrait when it loads then throuhs up the error
picodrive did not work it loaded up and then crashed and closed
anyone with some light on the above things would be brill! thanks
so sorry if this is the wrong section for this post!
I hade that same problem, solved it after installing MorphGear,,
Check this out
http://www.spicypixel.com/web/page/morphgear/Download.aspx
First install the morphgear.. than install the emulator you want ( in your case the Ines )
Its working perfect, you can also assign the keys you want, and get full screen with sound..
Try it ouT !
soon as the misses put her naff tv on tonight i will be checking this out! is morphgear an emulator its self?
how do you get it to go full screen? Right now mine is like a 150 by 150 pixel screen haha.
nvm i got it, in case anybody wonders you just set the screen size from 100% to window size.
it will not flip round to landscape how does one do this it does in the menu when first loaded but the black background and the morph gear logo dont go landscape and neither do the games also some games i load it says no memmory error and loads console up but it means nothing. when i try to landscape it it emains in portrait i.e if i open the keyboard hoevery the bottom off the application chops of 10mm and tou can see the today screen behind it
how do you get the pretend on screen game pad to work also?
What emulators are you using?

i got the same problem and can`t find anny solutions :S
(you can use the "Ctrl", "Del" and the 1. button on the front, but its only 3 buttons and there position is not good for playing)
Try using K For Raphael from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425646
It worked for me.
The only thing that's still a bit weird is assigning the d-pad buttons. Up and Down seem to be switched with Left and Right, so I have to assign them differently. Anyone else having this problem?

yes... it's an issue. the k for raphael.cab needs to be edited to work with the tp2. although the keyboard from the tp is close, obviously, its mapped differently. I can get it to work once in a while but has to be remapped every stinking time you open Morphgear! hopefully, someone with a little skill can fix this soon...
The Rhodium (Touch Pro 2) is a WVGA (Wide VGA) device, which means it has screen resolution of 480x800. Normal VGA is 480x640, so there's a "bar" of 800-640=160 pixels left over at either the bottom or top of your screen when using applications which are written for VGA display.
However, there is a tool which virtually forces your screen to VGA. Basically this means you'll still have the black bar, but all VGA apps will work. Search this forum for "WVGA fix" and fetch it.
As for the black bars being there, call it evolution. I'm rather certain your TV gives you programs in 4:3 and 16:9, black bars are common there too, live with it as it's better than stretched images

True, that program works well. Been waiting use it since I had my htc wizard. Wish we could get the r for tp2 so we could have the buttons mapped properly.
emulation
Well there is smartgear that works great for 5 dollars. Also have you guys heard of Fcpse1.0 it a playstation emulator that works great.
