Hi there,
I have an xda neo which has the following problem.
If an SD card is installed (either a real card or the dummy), an i have the phone switched off from the power button, while the setting is onlz to turn on when pressing the on/off, if I apply a soft presure in the region of the sd card, the phone turns on. I believe its a mechanical/electrical error of the phone so does O2 but since I want be around to get the phone fixed in the next 2 weeks I wondered if there is an registrz kez I can change in order to disable the autodetection of the SD card internally, since I believe that that is the problem.
If installed a registry viewer, but I can't find anzthing in the gregistry that seems to me as an appropriate key.
Can anybody help?

Hi all
In the last 10 days I had 3 random hard reset's on my qtek 2020.
Rom Version is 1.72.00WWE ,upgrade was done a couple of months ago.
The last reset happened today, and on the other 2 the behavior was the same, phone was just sitting, tried to use it, main screen came up...wouldnt respond to anything, tapping on the screen or pressing any buttons, just plain old stuck on the main screen. Tried a soft reset, image just get's all confused, could still see the today screen, backlight would go off and wouldnt move anywhere, tried soft reset again, wouldnt do anything.
Just knowing what was gonna happen....took batery out, put it back in...and that's it, everything is gone again. since my last forced hard reset no other software was installed besides the basic one's.
What should I do to troubleshoot / solve this? any tought's?
Thanks for any advice you may have.
found this:
The current build of XDA II ROM contains a bug that can cause a hard-reset when a program reads data from a storage card. Due to the bug in ROM, accessing storage cards may cause complete data loss on XDA2 compatible devices. More often it happens with programs that access a storage card in a timer (like Spb Pocket Plus). There are no known solutions for this problem so we have had to disable the showing storage cards indicators on XDA II. We'll enable this feature when HTC fixes this bug in their ROM.

thanks a lot, i did a search for qtek...not spv that's why i didnt find it.
either way...im going back to the store and try for a replacement...or an upgrade to the 9090....
thanks :?
I have a qtek 9000 and an xda exec. Both have the same rom updates (latest o2). The qtek works as it should, but the o2 does not. I have re-flashed the rom twice. No software is installed, nor is bluetooth running. The phone works and connects to 3g etc. If I close the clamshell, about 1 hour later the phone is asleep and will not wake up. A reset must be done in order to turn it on. I have hard reset many times and cannot fix this problem No calls or messages have been received by the phone. The green phone light remains flashing in its deep sleep mode, but it is not possible to call the phone. It does not ring or wake up. Has anyone had this problem? I have searched this forum and read many posts concerning sms causing sleep problems etc., but can find nothing relating specifically to my problem. Thanks for any help.
sounds like it could be faulty.
never woken it up via a phone call, so I don't know about that, as I don't use it as a phone yet, waiting until the contract for the W800i ends at the end of this month before I start informing people of my new number. But I wake mine up via the power button. If that fails for you, then I would suggest speaking to the company you got it from, as it would suggest a fault.

verry annoying
Kaze, this problem is usually caused by having anything running on the Today screen or resident in memory that is installed on the Today screen. For instance, a application loader on the today screen with links to programs on the SD card can cause this type of freeze, as it tries to get the icons from the SD card but cant - crashing(?) WM5. Just keep anything related to the today screen or bootup etc on the phone's memory itself and your crashes should go away.
dont think so

That other thread you are posting in is back from October/November last year. Just taking out the SD card wont help, you need to disable the programs trying to access the SD card. Although your problem might be different - maybe somethings faulty with your SIM card then? Try a different SIM card and see if it still happens.
As I said in my initial post, there was nothing installed on the unit. There was no sd card, and it was in total factory default condition. The unit was returned as it was faulty. The new unit works as it should, with the same sim card etc.

I've had a new Qtek 9000 for about 3 weeks and it has had exactly this problem from day 1.
Looking at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=32688 I thought it might be a SIM problem but it isn't. Done a load of tests and the final one - hard reset - no SIM - no SD card and the problem still occurs. It's on it's way back for repair / replacement.
Same problem here? Does anyone have the solution yet?
I'm sorry no - mine had to be sent back for reapir.
It's fine now.
First one I got had this problem from day one fresh from the box with nothing installed. I simply took it back to the shop and had them replace it as faulty. Second one has never shown this behaviour.
Dodgy batch/ component.
My advice is don't wait for a fix, it's a hardware fault, return it under warranty.
I've just took delivery of my Kingston 1GB MicroSD card and all is not going well.
Using TomTom on it causes the entire phone to hang. This can happen is various places, there seems to be no real pattern to it. It can hang when running the initial config screens or if you manage to get passed them it will always hang when trying to enter a street/city name. Normally I can get a few characters in to typing the name and then it will freeze. Only a soft reset will bring it back.
I've tried formatting the card on the PC as FAT and FAT32 but neither seem to improve things.
Anyone else had issues with reading from MicroSD cards hanging their phone - up until installing the card the phones been rock solid?
BTW: It's a SPV M3100. Nothing else is installed - it's just been hard reset
I was having numerous problems with the phone freezing. The famous sleep of death whereby if was left charging overnight it would freeze up only a soft reset will sort it out.
I narrowed it down to the micro sd card or the SPV3100 handling of it. I have a 1gb Sandisk Ultra II. I discovered that if I had a program loaded onto the sd card & the phone had to access it for whatever reason, in my case Fizz Traveller & an RSS reader the phone would just freeze up.
Another problem is everytime I take the sd card out & put it back in, the phone doesn't see it until a soft reset.
Obviously this could be just the phone not compatible with the sd card but I don't have a different brand to try out. But I tend to think its a bug with the phone itself.
hmm doesn't sound too clever.
Assuming it is a bug with the phone itself I wonder if trying one of the other roms might be a course of action? Trouble is there's no way back yet until Orange release a update. Could really do with my GPS working though :-(

I think that this is normal for the Hermes. That's the way it works on my Vario II.
I believe the problem with TomTom hanging is due to the software being a little slow at reading the names database from the card. This happens to me on occasion, but if you wait a little while it comes back. I'm using a SanDisk 2Gb card and most other software works fine. It's entirely possible that these problems will be fixed with a future firmware update, as I think it's just a matter of teething problems on a new system. In my case, 2Gb cards weren't even widely available when the Hermes was designed.

I've got TTN5 working on my SPV no problems at all. Took less than 10mins to transfer the files from my old sd card to the new one & load the Nav5.21 program onto the phone. Even after numerous hard resets & 3 different phones.

hi folks!
i got a problem with my XDAII since the last few days.. it switches itself on without me doing anything!
It sits on my desk now and even if i dont touch it it will switch on. I can switch it off, but within a minute its on again! This is not just a problem with the battery life but also when its in my pocket somewhere and the keys get pressesd
i havent changed any settings, it started by itself (really! )
What I did find out is that if i switch flight mode on, then it doesnt happen! So maybe its something with the radio? All other connections (bluetooth, infrared etc) are disabled and have always been so.
the phone is set to only switch on by the on/off button, if its off all other buttons are locked.
thanks for any suggestions..
Perhaps you have scheduled the phone to do something? I have heard of the scheduler accidently being switched on, though I don't know much more about it.
It may also be (less likely) a short somewhere. I have a broken XDA that I am able to short to turn on and restart etc.
Have you checked to make sure no programs are running in the background?
Also, make sure none of the hard buttons are pressed in constantly. One may have been pressed down and got stuck, or perhaps it is in a case (leather) that constantly presses the buttons.
Also, some phones are set to switch on when an SD card is inserted. Do you have an SD card in the phone? Perhaps it is faulty, or the card slot is faulty, or it isn't in all the way.
Except for the applications that came on the phone, have you installed any third party apps? If so, what are they?
hi jadel,
thanks for your answer. it was actually the sd card inserted into the phone that caused the problem. removed the card -> problem solved! thanks!
is there a way to disable this setting, that the phone switches on when a sd card is inserted? I find it very annoying..
grtz
mischka
Hi Mischka,
have you tried another SD Card? probably ur SD Card is defected/broken for some reason. I had an experience that was similar to this with my Xphone O2. it turned on without any touch. i tried another SD Card, and another new SD Card. it came to my conclusion that the socket of SD had been broken/faulty. It did.
thank God my Hima is still in a good condition.
or try to O2 service center to check the socket SD of yours.
regards,
j
I have an 8525 that is about a year and a half old running Schap's 4.31 WM6. My device has been unable to come out of standby after a press of the power button with any memory card in (I have tried 3 different ones). The screen remains black and I must soft-reset to use.
Is there a patch/fix for this issue?
BTW this is not a new problem, I have never really been able to use one, just have never gotten around to doing anything about it until now.

As an experiment, can you copy the contents off the card to your PC ( for safe-keeping) then format the card and see if it does the same with an empty but formatted card?
If it resumes ok, then I assume that it is something you have on the card (possibly an installed programme) that is attempting to run on resume and conflicting with the resume function.
If it locks up even with a blank card then we need to track down old threads on this - it has been discussed before
