2, I have backed up my xda to my memory card using SPB Backup, if i run this exe. file from the memory card, will it just reinstall all my apps/configurations to the orange rom?

if you know how to do it ...
thanx a lot
a new newbee user
V1605 vodafone sfr (qtek 9600)
ROM 1.23.163.3
date de ROM 06/18/06
version de radio 1.06.00.00
version de proto 32.27.7010.01w
Use SPB Backup!
SPB Backup will NOT back up the ROM.
I also want to back up my original ROM so that I can roll back. This is necessary if you ever have to send you PocketPC back to the manufacturer any kind of reasons.
There is a way to dump ROM (see WiKi), but no a way to flash the dump back. So, the only "backup" currently is an official ROM update. There are a few in the WiKi as well.
Thanks for your input Lurker0.
What can you do with a dump ROM ? I mean can I do something with it ?
I have the WM5 emulator on my PC, can I dump my TyTN ROM and put it on my PC so that the PocketPC emulator behaves exactly like my HTC TyTN ?

restoring backup same rom ?

Hi you all!
I have a t-mobile MDA Vario (Qtek 9100) with a big screen problem.
My idea:
Buy the same model on ebay and restore a backup onto
that new device.
Now:
Does this "new device" need to have the same ROM installed as the
device where the backup comes from?
Where do I get the ROM - how do I install it?
As far as I remember the latest ROM I installed was
the AKU2 from german t-mobile.
I have it on my desktop right now.
The device says:
ROM-Version: 2.21.2.8 GER
ROM-Datum: 3/9/06
Are there any tricks to get the backup working for a new ROM?
The backup was produced with Sprite Backup Version 5.1.0, Build 1417 .
I remember it has a "Device Upgrade mode" under Rostore Options.
What I don't remember is if this ever worked nicely
...gratefull for any hints
