Pewe, they have switched to a subscription based service for these now. The last free one was Feb 2006.
If anyone wants it, I have up to January 2006.

Jerry-S, nice one mate...

Tis ok my friend.
I have seen so many people struggle with tomtom and WM5 / Wizard and would love to just say, "Here, have a copy of my SD." Lol
But I can't cos it's not exactly......................

Well if you look at it from a hosting point of view, as soon as people get wind that you can get for free what some people have been charging for on e-bay, what are they going to do?
I am assuming that the main reason for the charge is for bandwidth charges, seeing as the rest of the site is freely accessible.
If you think about it, it's not a bad price to pay, especially as it's a hell of alot cheaper than a fine or loosing your licence / job.
Now all we need for HGV driver like me, is a really good comprehensive database of low bridges and a way to make TT avoid certain Poi's.

Just got my Wizard! Now what?

Hey all. I'm really new to HTC and PCC. I had a Nokia 6682 and new how to tweak it and everything. I'm lost with my Wizard though. Do I install programs and stuff just like a regular computer? What tweaks do you guys recommend I perform? I only use the phone for watching videos, listening to music, taking pics and video and of course talking on the phone. I have a PQI 2gb memory card and I just found out that I should've gotten a SanDisk instead. I read the WIKI, but I'm still kinda lost. Somebody teach the young grasshopper!!!!
PQY, SanDisk, Kingston ... - ... believe me: all of those cards are produced in one and the same factory in China!
About what you should do with your WIZ200: this question you should have asked yourself before buying it! It is a PDA, an organizer, a mobile computer which lets you do stuff on the go while away from your desk - and it has for sure its limits!
The Wizard is not the ideal device for watching videos! A little bit research before buying would have told you that! All through it is possible to watch videos; if it is 'enjoyable' is another question ...
Music:
yes, it plays! But already my SE K800i has a much better sound than the WIZ!
There are some cool games out there for PDA's which really run excellent on the WIZ! You can take a closer look at www.handango.com for that! They have also trial versions available for download!
Tweaks:
Some of them are nice but many produce even some issues on your device! So, be carefully by tweaking your WIZ and always ask yourself if that particular TWEAK is really necessary or of you could even live without that!
Am I able to have pictures and ringtones for certain callers and all that? I fell in love with the touchscreen stuff man. I couldn't help it. Plus I only paid $60 through cingular. I have 30 days to return it. Do you know of any phones that might be of interest and usefulness to me?

Ringtones and pictures for callers is no problem! Just check your contacts list in the phone and you will see it offers much more than nokia's symbian would ever be capable of!
About your second question: I have absolutely no clue what phones would be of interest for you! You might wanna figure that out by yourself? www.gsmarena.com
You da man! One last question though. Is there any way I can put P/W protection on my pictures and videos?

I am sure there is a way with 3rd party software. Maybe some real good FILE EXPLORERS are capable of that!
I just wonder why you need to put a password protection on your pic's? Do you rent your phone or give it to somebody from time to time? Then a better solution would be to work with 2 MiniSD cards: put your personal stuff on one SD and the public stuff on another one ...
SOme things i feel that are needed for new wizards.

^^^ that page lots of good stuff.
But the first thing thatmakes installing programs a breeze. is Cabviaacticesync
What it is. when you download the cab file(program) you want. you right click the cab file with your mouse. and there will be a new menu called cabviaacticesync. click that then folow the steps.
http://www.modaco.com/CABviaActiveSync-FREE-Edition-now-availableand33-t243034.html
Also Omapclock and Omapclock plus. you can download those sepratley. or you can download something called batterystaus that has ompa built in. really nice program. All free. dont overclock over 260. i leave mine at 240.
thats all i have for now.
skype me if you want help. toodeep2360
ALso put all your programs on your sd card. will let your wizard run faster. the only downside. is prgrams will start slower.
Thanks for all of your help. I'm gonna go through all these threads over the weekend. I just really gotta find a P/W program.
You better be carefully with OMAPCLOCK and BATTERYSTATUS! It does not really do any good and lots of people had problems with that! Just search this forum or others online!

I think you would be in a minority there Junner2003 - the majority of people on the forum with omap devices overclock their devices and have no problem - it certainly makes the device alot more responsive.
It makes skype useable, videos smooth etc...
It is very rare to cause any damage through overclocking and most stick around 240mhz.
I find the device fine for watching a movie
Even if I am in the minority - still sticking to my opinion!
I am glad so many people have no issues with it! Research in the web tells me another story! How ever, every1 makes his own choices - and I always try to keep my stuff as original as possible! Others like do change every single bit and byte - multiculti!
Have it your way!

Wrong. Between my 2 8125s and my brothers 2 8125s. overclocked to 240-273 we have no problems running them for a year now.
Yes there has been a few people who thought it was ok to overclock over 260.
and everyone has said not to overclock over 240-260.

I partially agree, I hate the slow stock roms (I think Junner2003 is on one(?)). But i used to use batterystatus and even clocked to 312 permanently for a while. The last version I tried froze my device and my current rom is quicker than anything else anyway.
Running the official German T-Mobile AKU3.3 Rom - performance is quite good - sure: videos are not enjoyable with the 195MHz but it is enough for everything else I do: some office work, internet, email, database, writing some software (and compile it later on a desktop) ... and a bit gaming!

TeleNav for Athena

Nice job... Telenav
Enjoy...
Sorry, before I execute this CAB,,,, what is it? Like a TomTom GPS thing??
Telenav is a Navigation tool. Unlike TomTom, it uses maps stored online, that are up-to-date and updated frequently. They use NavTek if you wonder. Check the details here: http://www.telenav.com/products/tn/
I use it on other devices and love it also on my Advantage.

How does it compare to Google Maps? (EDIT: Never mind, just looked at web site, and it looks awesome!)
What carrier do you have, what device do you claim to have? THansk!
Pay by the month for use? No thanks I will stay with Igo that way I will not incur any data charges plus monthly usage.
I think I'll stick to CoPilot 7

I run on many different providers ranging from T-Mobile, Telefonica and others. I have an HTC branded Athena (Advantage/X7500). Runs fine, as long as you create an account with them. I don't mind the premium since the maps are precise, up-to-date.
Review of TeleNav
OK, downloaded, put in my credit card (have until 8/11 to cancel) and... WOW!
Pros:
Very nice feature set. Best implementation of searches for points of interest that I have seen; makes GoogleMaps look downright clunky! One of my favorites was search for lowest gas prices. Can also search for restaurants by type, just by clicking. And the results seemed very accurate. Really, really cool. And the fact that it is live means that you don't have to wait a year for updates.
Haven't tested the voice recognition yet, but a neat idea.
Nice big buttons. Hi-res maps. Attractive.
It is surprisingly responsive, even when on EDGE. Although I haven't tried an interstate at 80mph yet. This is a keeper... NEARLY.
Cons:
My biggest concern is the routing seems a little "creative". I did routes to about 10 locations near and far, and I would say it is comparable to Mapquest 2001. In one case, it inexplicably routed me through a subdivision rather than the direct route. Then I remembered... Mapquest used to give me that same stupid detour! In another, a 8-9 mile trip routed out at 23 miles! Maybe it's just the area I live in, but I'm not sure I'd want to rely on it if I really needed to get somewhere in a hurry.
The only other gripe is that while the user interface is pretty, sometimes the menus are confusing. I would hit the Menu button and get a set of options that weren't at all what I expected.
Also, with MvRTrueVGA, there is a gap between the bottom of the app window and the bottom of the display where a little bit of the app below peeks through. OK, this is a hack, so I can't be too harsh about that. But wouldn't it be great...
Summary
Bottom line, this has the potential to be THE killer GPS app. It's not there yet, but I'm betting this will get better in the next while. I definitely plan to keep playing with it at least until August 11, in conjunction with GoogleMaps and/or iNav as a second opinion. I'd be interested about experiences others have had, particularly with routing.
WGARY,
Have you tried traffic function with it? If traffic info is really up to date and integrated to routing. $10 may be ok for up-to-date map and real time traffic.

Traffic really isn't an issue where I live. My only real beef is the routing. Otherwise, I would gladly give the $10/month... might anyway!
I've been wondering when someone would come out with something like this, but for me it's monthly fee is a deal breaker (or needing a data plan for that matter) because I almost never need/use GPS, so I don't want to pay $$ per month to use it once in a while...
Still I wish them luck and am glad to see them improving GPS.

CoPilot Live 7 will blow you away - it is a vast improvement over 6.
When is 7 going to be made available? Do you know yet?
Beware of this product for the time being if you are UK based - it doesn't work, the program installs fine from the link but it is not possible to activate it. They have said six weeks (ish) before rolling out PDA compatability for Europe - for the time being its Blackberry devices only - Mike

:-S You got me curious now....
I love the fact that when I'm on the road for a long period, people (family, friends, customers) can track me and get an ETA on when I arrive, since I put my routes in CopilotLive. Maps are rough on edges, POI are not as rich as many features. I love TeleNav and consider TeleNav Track for the bidirectional functionality. Will see when they realease for the Athena. It's the really the best navigation PDA around in my eyes. By that time, I hope Alk will release Copilot Live 7. Can you send a screenshot? PM me if needed, I wonder how you got your hands on it and when it's due for.
Cheers.
Hey how did you guys get telenav to find the gps on the x7500? It keeps telling me that it cannot find it and to seek a clear sky position.
Thx
i didn't not notice it requried data plan before installation.
now, how can i uninstall it? TeleSav is not shown in the 'remove program' list. :-(
BTW, i still love my tomtom application.

I have tried another one, webraska. I find not as nice as Telenav, but very close. excellent coverage in UK, Whales, and France. On my last trip I used it and found it just as useful as Telenav. Check it out... Webraska. For my friends on the other other side of the pond.
Anyone happen to know if this version works on other PPCs? Telenav hasn't updated their other Windows Mobile versions in years.

REV A and GPS Nav ROM update watch

OK, the rumored date is Jan 28th ... anybody know more G2 ??
I haven't heard anything official yet. I wish it would have come out before Tuesday since I will be going out of town and I could have tested it. I'll be back by the 28th, but I'll still be happy if its released by then. Hopefully they've thoroughly tested it and there won't be many/any bugs.

The GPS is just enabling the chip in the phone. You will need another app to actually use it. You could pay monthly for Telenav, which would use your internet connection to download maps as you drive. You could buy iGuidance, TomTom, or a similar program and load all of your maps onto your SD card. iGuidance will announce the street names, TomTom will just say "Turn left in 1 mile". This should make it work with Google Maps and Live Search as well. You can get directions off of these programs, but its not voice guided.

No, my data points are the standard rumors and speculation floating around all the sites. I've seen a number of comments about 'same time' recently, and a lot about 'staggered' in the couple of months preceeding that. The only published and official fact that I've seen anywhere in months is Sprint's statement about Mogul in Q1 on HTC's site and at BAW.
It would make perfect sense for them to be released at the same time - not that sense is something I would associate with Sprint! :=)
I will be thrilled if they both come out at the same time, and soon. I have given up on my Mogul and put it on a shelf pending a likely trade for a Treo 800w. My Touch is now my primary phone.

This is the new CoPilot Live 7 (http://www.alk.com/copilot/). I have this one also. The software is nice (but I haven't tried it on the Touch). The maps in my area are out-dated compared to iGuidance v4. CoPilot also doesn't announce street names, iGuidance is the only one that does this. ALK said they plan on releasing an update to CoPilot to make it announce street names though, I was never given a time frame.
january 28th is the rumored release for the Moguls GPS/REV.A release, the touch is not set to get a ROM update to enable such until at least Q2 2008.
This may sound stupid, but I'll ask anyway.
I have a Garmin GPS (Nuvi250) in my wifes car, is there anyway to pull the maps from that and use them on the Touch?

Once they release the update, if it allows us to use the GPS, could I take the maps that are on the Nuvi and load them onto the Vogue?
no you might not be able to use garmin maps as they are very heavily copyrighted and protected. you cannot even use maps from one garmin device to another
top of that .. u can't use it ..
but u can load from underground web ..
it is impossible to load from the map from nuvi to your pda ..

i don't know about this "revue software" and the description of what it does is not very clear to me, but i have tested another tool that does the same thing (i suppose. i'm french so my english is not perfect) named trakax on a htc vox and it seemed fairly good for a slow device (200 cpu) and non-tactile.
it should be very cool on a decent pdaphone with good cpu.

I agree, it may be difficult, but when you see someone asking for a copy of a retail piece of software on here, insisting they have it for free, (as if that's a right), then find a near identical request on a warez site asking for the crack for the same software, its not difficult to see where that activity would lead to if we all took that stance.
WB
I don't have a problem paying for the apps that we use on our devices and i'm willing to pay a whole helluva' lot more but we should @ least have the trial option to see if it's worth it or even if its compatible with our devices. Most developers give you that trial because they stand by their product and they know it'll sell itself once the word gets out, so maybe them not giving a trial offer says something about their product. Just my opinion.
I've done trials of and loved:
Resco Exlorer
Memmaid
AEButton
Ultimate Launcher
Vito Screen Capture
Phone Weaver
...And paid for:
Resco
Memaid
AEButton
UL
Vito
Phone Weaver
It wouldn't even occur to me to use a cracked copy. Weird since I've used warez for some windows PC software, but being on a forum like this you see how the programmers are good people, just like me (only smarter) and it puts a face to the theft and I wouldn't consider doing it. Now I don't do cracked stuff for PC software either. I guess its part of growing up.
Anyway, I think there are a lot of ppl like me that if they like a trial they will be HAPPY to buy it.
I have just found this video!
Hi
I found a video of Revue.
It seems to be fantastic even with an application to manage the files with the PC!

I want to test this program for my HTC Touch, but I can´t download it from anywhere.
Anyone has this program?
Can you tell me if it is fast and useful?
Anyone knows where can I download Revue?
Thank YOU ALL
I just took a quick glance at the site you listed and looks like something I used to use on my Palm, I think you can use this for free, don't completely remember, but know I never paid for it. I remember now, you have to keep your pc online and you can access it for free, think that was the deal, and you had to pay to store your files online to access them while your pc was offline.
Anyway to the point its Avvenu, check it out.
Log Me In may be the same.

So is this basically streaming media from your computer but with lots of organization options?
How is it not like Orb?

free GPS Software

i am getting my blackstone in about a week from telstra.
is there any GPS software that is free and doesn't need internet connection eg maps already downloaded and gps software knows where you are on maps.
i have been looking around with no luck for about 4 days and want to have everything ready when i get the device.
thanks in advance
Ask around or check online with other suppliers as some ship GarminXP with the phone as they do in Thailand its a great piece of software and the maps are awesome, and to get it supplied free was worth paying so much for the HD
I would check around to see what software is included before signing up
http://terracrosser.com
you could try Nav4All - free and simple to use...not pretty but will get the job done...have used when I've had a loan phone.
how about m.goolge.com
thx all!
thx for your replies you's are really helpful unlike the modding forum for my last phone(motorola razr2 v8).
