To cut a long story short, i dropped my xda2 in the toilet at work!
so went home and claimed it on my house insurance and i now own a lovely spvm2000 but im left with this xda2 thats been down the pan, the thing switches on and it all appears to work fine except its black listed, obviously coz i claimed on insurance so i will open it up and sling the pcb in the bin, unless anyone wants some componets from that, but i shall not be selling the phone complete or the pcb seperate. so for sale i have everything else here is a list of what i can think of
fully working screen with no scratches
houseing(scratched but back cover is fine)
4 styli (3 in original o2 retail pckaging)
all the box with instruction and sw cd
leather case
aluminium case (scratched)
Genuine Battery
Cradle
thats all i can think of atm, if u want any of it just make me and offer, dont want much for the stuff as its just sitting there redundant now and not being used!
if u can think of anything else that came with the phone that ive not listed let me know and ill let u know if i got it!

Not sure what to do,is my xda2 now useless, any idea where i can get it repaired and the cost
thanks for any help offered

I sell the connectors on ebay - unless you are fairly confident with a soldering iron I'd get a mobile phone repair shop to do it for you. You may also have damaged other componants on the board when the socket was pushed up.

XDA II Damaged connection slot
Hi all,
I had the same problem with my XDA II, sent it for repair and it did exactly the same shortly afterwards, i bought a new battery and charged each one alternatively, but found problems syncronising and eventually gave up.
I have recently bought (my little gem) Xda Orbit, after many months examining what was on offer, I love it its is everything i expected and just a little more. Purchased a 2 Gig memory card and installed copilot on so i have sat nav and all my tunes. needless to say i have a spare Xda II up for offer for spares and such should anyone want to get in touch with me.
there is the Cradle and power charger, 2 batteries and it works well just as long as you dont want to connect it to your pc, anyway im new to this site, would be pleased if someone could point me in the right direction for Orbits here and please feel free to contact me, even if just for a chat and introduction. need to get established here.
cheers all, have fun and hopefully speak soon
Hi guys , i am PDA Technician , and i can sell and solder the connector to the XDA board perfectly , I am in Egypt Cairo

not very cheap, however.

Hi, I bought an XDA second hand and apparently they wont touch it under warranty. They claim its my fault and say I broke it anyway!
Now, it all works when opened like a laptop, however when I rotate the screen and fold it flat like the old XDAII, the touchscreen stops working.
If i rotate back to landscape mode, it works again.
Ive done a hard reset, and firmware upgrade so im sure its not software.
I assume there is a dodgy cable in the hinge, does anybody repair these, or can I do it myself?
suggestion
Ask for the supervisor

Cable connector sounds loose - the cable is many thin strands so if it was a broken cable it would stop working completley. You need to diss-assemble the screen module and re-seat the push fit connectors. If the warranty seal is still intact contact the XDA helpline.
Richard
b4 u dissemble just try pressing at all the corners of the exec...u can get it working..
I took it apart, the connector was NOT loose
Now, it seems the cable is broken inside one of the wires.
Im screwed. I have a brick.

Can you see it's broken? Repair it with a bridging piece of wire. You can't buy the looms so unless you can repair the broken wire you do have a brick :-(
Use a multimeter to check for continuity of the wires.

i have been searching here in Egypt for some parts i need to fix my PDA. i needed
1. the metal piece on the sync connector. {Shown Below}(this part is essential for the connector to be firm; without it; the connector will be lose and will cause the connetor to be disconnected from the borad!!!); offcourse this is really annoying. when ever i need to chrage the PDA; i put the battery in the auxilary slot located on the cradel (after i take a full backup ofcourse). when batteries are full; put them back; restore; set time/date. and so on.
2. Side slider button. (a very tiny part on the side the button used for volume leveling is broken) although it is not that important i can manage without it.
3. Speaker. (makes a really noisey sound when the PDA rings. i have tried to lower the volume but still noisey; i alos tried to clean the speaker).
yes it looks like the mainboard needs a replacement. i have also checked that metal part coating the sync connector is sold out on ebay. But could not find a complete mainboard. please if anyone has any ideas whatsoever please let me know i really need help. if anyone has a mainboard i can buy it.
Thank you...
Khaled
most likely all htc devices use std components
try getting hold of the part nr's and check around
http://rswww.com/cgi-bin/bv/rswww/home.do?cacheID=uknetscape&returningUser=N
like here
it would be insane if it had special parts and anybody would stock sparepart fro all devices or even some
really bad business unless that person charged more then a new pda was worth
of cause you can get a broken one and canabalise it for spares too
Hi all,
my o2 mini was working perfect till today when it fell down from my table.. after i switched on the phone had hard-reset and the backup battery shows 'NONE'.. .. my backup battery was working perfect till the unit fell.. so what should i do next? my device is not under warranty anymore and my nearest o2 authorized service center is in next state so is there any way i can repair it myself? is there any chance that just the contacts of the battery got loosened form mainboard?
please someone help.. i love my phone even more than my bike.. plzz someone!!!
Well, i doubt that someone can help you out since that is an internal hardware failure (the pda was working perfectly until it fell...). It's not easy to pinpoint a hardware failure of that kind without some degree of hardware testing (it could be a resistor, a cap, a cuted track, etc)
Has i see it, you have two options:
1st: send it to a local repair shop
2nd: sell it
Loosing the backup battery ain't something that could be easely solved...(open and check how small everything is...it wouldn't be easy to solder again.)

Mayb this can help.

well this happened too mine as well after, i dropped my JAM, since the warranty had finished on mine, i just opened it up and found out that the internal battery has a metal cap that had slipped out of place just slightly...
I pushed it back on and made sure that the audio cables were tucked in properly(they run beside the battery). screwed it all up and its worked perfectly ever since.
hope this helps
Problem Solved!
