Slideout Keyboard Getting Loose - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Anyone's Slideout keyboard getting pretty loose? I have had my 8125 only about a week and it feels pretty loose ... just wondering if this is how it is? I have had other slider type phones and they usually last a lot longer before it gets this loose.

I have had my 8125 for a little over a month and I have seen it getting loose but not too loose where it wouldn't be usable. I can see it slowly getting to that point though.

me too but only after a week of what I consider normal usage??? Seems like its not made to last if that is the case.

I have had my 8125 about three weeks now. I have noticed that the slide is getting lose. Sometimes, i keep the phone in my pocket and the screen is often slid out. To prevent sliding now i keep it in the case provided when i bought the phone. However i am still conerned of the loose slide. I seen a demo model of the 8125 at a local cingular store and the slide was very loose. I love this phone. This a phone i been dreaming of. I hate to think that this phone is defective but i don't want keep a phone if it will go bad on me. Do any of you guys know if cingular is willing to repair or replace this phone due to this problem. Is there any thing that i can do to prevent the problem. Plz help. I don't want to loose the phone.

i used the mda for three weeks and it wasn't getting loose at all. i mean, if i hold it, i can nudge it maybe .5mm, which is to say that i feel it move, and i can't see it move. i really wouldn't call that a loosening, but again, its only three weeks

Cingular 8125
I have had mine about a month now and mine is fine. Slider is ok.

HALF FRONT of WIZARD Slightly ROCKING,MOVING

hi wizard brothers n sisters, just got my BNew imate kjam last week and it kinda irritate me, the FRONT(i mean the half front that has the screen, button etc.) of the kjam is quite loosen, not tight enough, and it's moving a little bit, when you rock it.hope you understand what i mean.
does anyBODY here have the same WIZARD problem? is this NORMAL or WHAT?
it's just a little tiny bit of movement, but it's REALLT IRRITATE me:evil: ,m very sorry,m just a 99% perfectionist, but if this is normal then i accept for the love of wizard.
i didn't bought HERMES yet because it's still NEW in the market, maybe m gonna w8t until the BUGS decrease around 90%
does anybody experience this? it's like when your in portrait mode, the front is not that quite lock toght,it's moving a VERY little bit. so is this NORMAL?
quite confusing....
UP!....pls.....anyone?

if you only know HOW MUCH this cost in our country, maybe you'll be sensitive as much as me
@ ArtXT
I don't know if your problem is similar to my Qtek 9100 (sounds like it might be), basically my top housing(screen and buttons) had a small gap between the it and the keyboard when in "portrait mode" and sort of had a rocking motion as you mentioned when pressing on the "call" and "end" buttons or anywhere in the vicinity, but I thought nothing of it at the time (still annoyed me though  ), and 9 months later it developed an annoying creaking noise everytime I pushed on the "end call" button or anywhere just below the buttons. I compared it my friend's MDA and noticed that his had no gap between the keyboard and screen housing what so ever (nice and snug). So, being under the Qtek 2 year warranty I sent it in for repairs via Sound Solutions AM, about 3 weeks ago and is on its way back. The repair company noted that the it was due to a "poor fit" and it being "out of shape" and was covered under warranty. I should be getting it back hopefully this week if not early next week and will post the results...In the meanwhile I feel that you should consider exchanging it or sending it in for warranty repairs....that's just me, after seeing my friends MDA, it was a no brainer for me, hope this helps.
Regards,
tnx for the reply bro, but my problem is not like that, mine has a little gap also, but very very little, what i mean is the lower part lock mechanism of my kjam is some some of NOT TIGHT. maybe i'll just bring it back for some service maintenance,my friend to me that he got the same problem and doesn't annoy him,he said get use to it bec. it's a mechanism device so xpect that in the future,he said the important thing is it runs 100%, and it's true, the performance, software and hardware are both running 100% wild.maybe it's me that has a problem attitude of such device.

8525 Flex/Loose slider

Hi,
I know I'm a n00b, and I just got my 8525 a couple weeks ago. I've enjoyed getting Custel's ROM on my phone and finally finding some decent cases (hard rubber and krussel from extremepda.com) and screen protectors (pocketpctechs.com)
I do have a question though, how easy should the keyboard slide out? I noticed that mine comes out fairly easily with little effort. It doesn't come out with gravity alone, but little effort is required on my part at all. Is this normal, or should I try and exchange it at the cingular store before my 30 days expires?
If this is normal that cool, I just want to make sure nothing is wrong.
Thanks everyone!

It is a reasonably common problem. I would certainly go for an exchange if possible. There is a fix available but it involves dismantling and will void your warranty.
See my site in signature link for details, but go for the exchange. It should click into position fairly firmly at both top and bottom.
Mike
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the quick reply! I guess my accompanying question is if this is a defect with certain units, or if it is just something that happens (ie mechanism just gets loose over time) if it just starts to happen and needs to be tweaked I'm ok with that, but if it is a defective unit and others don't have the issue at all then I'll take it back.
Thanks again!

Well if you see my site in my signature you'll see that it is a problem related to the indents at each end of the runners/sliders being too shallowly embossed in the metal to provide a large enough bump for the sliding part to click over. In theory they might become loose over time, but my feeling is that folks with problems have ones that have always been pretty loose. Having increased the indents mine have retained a very firm click ever since, so I don't think it's a problem of soft/poor quality metal. Mine were so bad that just holding the phone to take a call would open the keyboard and it always opened getting it out of the holster. Otherwise my TyTn was perfect so I chose to void the warranty and fix the problem myself.
Edit some are better than others from the start (to answer your question!!)
Mike
Thanks Mike! I ended up trying to take it back to Cingular, and tried some of the other ones and they were actually worse than mine. I'm probably just a little picky. If it gets real bad I'll definitely go through your guide!

yeah i have had mine almost a week now i noticed it after i removed that plastic screen thing that was on the back of the screen.
it seems kinda cheap feeling when i push down on the screen and i hear it sweak and move every time. should i take it back?
Mine started sqeaking and creaking today. NOOOOO!
I only had it for 2 days. I kept the plastic on the back of the screen and it still does this by the way. Its too awesome of a phone for this litte stuff to bother me though. I came from a Touch Dual that had a solid keyboard for a little over a year before it became wobbly and squeky before it final died. So I imagine its better sooner than latter cause you just adapt the longer you use it.
My 2 Cents,
Jcostanza4
I had the same problem the first day I got mine. I'm still trying to figure out a way to keep it from squeaking/creaking. Honestly it's just annoying right now. My TYTN II was a brick compared to this phone as far as size and weight. If I figure anything out I'll post it up.
The only idea I've had so far is to take one of my old Palm screen shields and use it on the back of the screen. However since I ordered a Zagg full body protector I think I actually might get that piece with the set. Like I said I'll post up when I got more info.
try adding a little strip of adhesive felt to the upper part of the chin (where it meets the screen when closed). Works for me. Actually, if you want to test this out or cant find the felt, take three post it notes(together for the right thickness), cut them down, black out with a magic marker, and you'll get the same effect. Barely noticable.
yes mines loose too you feel it when you only hold the bottom and tap the screen u here the screen and the body click.

Maybe you're pressing too hard? Mine creaks if I really press down hard.
On my wing, I had to press down hard, it's built for a stylus.
But this device is built for your fingers, and should respond with a very light touch. Try using it with barely touching it, if it doesn't respond try pressing a tiny bit harder, you should not have to push down hard enough to make the screen creak -- unless the screen is badly attached, in which case I would take it back to the store.
this is what happens when HTC wants a thin, light phone with a hardware qwerty
it doesnt bother me much though

Wierd thing with my screen (hardware not software)

Ive noticed something odd with my screen lately, and was wondering if anyone else has, has any solutions, or knows if its covered.
the screen, on the keyboard side, comes up a little, like the glass..pokes up a little from its normal spot to just above level with the side of the phone. its not enough to hurt anything..its just annoying and i push it back down, 5 minutes later its worked it way back up. the other side does this but not nearly as bad.
I bought the phone on craigslist a couple of months ago, the phone has worked flawlessly and is it fantastic shape, so i dont think that is a factor although i thought i should mention it.
Im just wondering if anyone has heard of this and knows a do it yourself solution. or knows if its covered under any warranty with sprint, seeing as i didnt purchase it off of them. i have insurance on the phone, but i'd rather not file a claim for something so tiny. Thanks for reading hope this helps, lol
Mine is the same way.

Phone Has A Mind Of It's Own!

I woke up one morning last week and my phone was acting like it had a mind of its own. It was activating the navigation buttons over and over again even though it was sitting on the table untouched. This made the phone pretty much useless since every time I opened an app the phone immediately closed it.
To try to fix this I completely wiped the phone and went back to stock. After that I update the touch firmware. This did nothing to fix the problem.
Fast forward about five days later. The phone stopped the behavior as quickly as it has started. Everything was fine with it for about 3 days. I could use every function just like the day I bought it.
BUT now this morning it was back to doing the same exact behavior where it acts like someone is touching the nav buttons constantly. They even light up like someone is pressing them.
Can anyone help me out with this? I am going to end up having to sell it for parts if I can't figure out what is going on.

Looks like your screen is on its way out. Replace it under warranty if u can. My first phone did that after some snow fell in the earpiece area last winter.
After that the top part of the screen was no longer responsive. Before that occured, the phone acted possessed like you're describing

That's what I was afraid of. I am out of warranty which means I am out of luck I think. I was really hoping it was a software issue since it stopped for a few days.
What else do you expect? It called "smartphone" for a reason, right? and your phone happens to be the first one with that kind of intelligence. More like the transformer robot blending into your device heheheheh
Anyway, something wrong with your screen, loose end somewhere?

Lol, it seems like it has some kind of intelligence and it is setting it's mind on making my life difficult!
There doesn't seem like there is anything loose. It wasn't dropped and it started overnight while it was just sitting on a table.

Thats the thing. Some of these screens go bad by defect. I hear its not hard to swap in a replacement. Look into the full assembly with frame so its quicker and easier.
I may buy one as a spare and store it safe in case my screen goes bad after the warranty expires

Same is happening on my old phone, to be specific the digitizer is going out.
Would you believe I woke up this morning and it stopped again?!?! I decided I am going to just sell it for parts. I can't deal with having a phone that is unreliable. Sad day BC I really do like this phone.
