Which bluetooth stack is the Prophet using? - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Hi,
I bought a Dopod 818 Pro and happily loaded the drivers for my Think Outside BT Keyboard. Unfortunately the BT Keyboard on the Prophet tells me :
Bluetooth system not detected.
Current version of the keyboard/mouse driver supports the following Bluetooth stacks
Widcomm BTW CE 1.4.x - 1.5.x
Drakar (Socket) 6.x.x
Microsoft
Does anyone have an idea on how I can get this to work? Think Outside is very slow to update their software / drivers. One option seems to me to load either the Widcomm or the Drakar stack. Any one tried something like this?
Thanks & Best Regards

Of course Prophet running WM5 and has Microsoft Bluetooth stacks. I think the version is 2.0. Is newer then before. No way to use other Blue tooth stacks on Pocket PC.

the BT stack onthe prophet is total garbage, only supports 2 services.. the older widcom stack for the 2K3 pdas have like 14 services

Same Microsoft s#%t as on Windows XP. My Sony Vaio comes with MS stack, and ....it supports only 2 services. So I have built-in BT, but can use it only for a BT mouse or modem.

Newest release of Widcomm BT-PPC/Phone Edition?

What is the latest version of the Widcomm BT Stack for the XDA II? I have noticed a new version, Widcomm BT-PPC/Phone Edition, but I can't find any information if it's been officially released and available to download. If so anyone know where to get that newer (and XDA II optimized) Widcomm BT-PPC/Phone Edition (I believe it's also called Widcomm BT-PPC version 2.x.x.x?), please let me know. Thanks!
Some of the new features included in this release...
BT-PPC/Phone Edition leverages current BTW-CE/PPC features and includes the following profiles (GAP, SDP, SPP, GOEP, OPP, FTP, SYNC, DUN, HSP, HFP & PAN).
Key features of this product:
Addition of WAN connectivity features
Implement cellular connectivity
Manage audio traffic routing to headset
Display radio signal strength (RSSI) on screen
Implement power management scheme (enable WAN connectivity while PPC is off/sleep)
Initial release OMAP platform

Xda II - Hack Bluetooth from Widcomm
Hey people!
please chk this out
http://www.pdamobiz.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9465&PN=1
I've installed this new widcomm stack version 1.4.1 Build 59 on my XDA2 but it doesn't seem to detect the built-in BT radio of XDAII and asks for a CF card. The documentation says that it supports internal BT as well. There r few instructions by chan but i can't seem to understand how to make this think working. Please give it a try.........
Errr... don't understand a thing it said in that previous link, can anyone translate that webpage? Babelfish didn't cut it. But I'll download everything that seems to have any connection to Widcomm and see what I can do. It does seems to has something to do with a PC-based USB BT dongle, not the internal BT in the XDA. Meanwhile if anyone has the actual Widcomm PPC/Phone Editon release please let me know. Thanks!
Ah, yep downloaded that file you referred to, unfortunately that is the wrong version (v1.4.1/59), it is techinically the same program running on the HP iPAQ H5000 series. The program is not the newer Widcomm Bluetooth Pocket PC Phone Edition version. Neverless keep the post comming if anyone knows anything about this new PPC Phone Edition Bluetooth release! I managed to modify the Widcomm Bluetooth stack to a hybrid version file, using a mix of versions to get various aspect of the Bluetooth technology and features working, so far everything is great, the only issues I am having are:
1. "Bluetooth failed to initialize properly" error messages upon restarting the Bluetooth feature or after rebooting the XDA2 with the newer hybrid Widcomm start up file link.
2. The hybrid Widcomm Bluetooth application disables itself when turning off the XDA2 in it's traditional PPC fashion, not utilizing the newer WM2003 Pocket PC Phone Edition's ablity to retain it's Bluetooth/GPRS connection.
Other than that I got all the features I wanted, such as the ablity to host/join a Bluetooth LAN/PAN, browse files remotely over BT, etc.
BTW v.1.4.1.59
I got the New Version from Sitecom. V 1.4.2.11 and it works with csr-500.
The V 1.41.1.59 is a Bluetooth CF software for WindowsCE PPC2000, 2002, 2003. Thats why it is asking for the CF adapter.

Toshiba bluetooth stack ROCKS...

I installed the Toshiba bluetooth stack on my I-Mate Jam and it ROCKS - it includes ALL the functionality/profiles missing in the MS stack!
...BUT...
It is unstable as hell (I have experienced all sort of "cosmetic" issues) and I am fairly sure this is due to the fact that both MS and Toshiba stacks try to use the same bluetooth hardware SIMULTANEOUSLY.
...SO...
has anyone figured how deinstall/reinstall the microsoft bluetooth stack on a Magician (I-Mate Jam, Qtek S-100, MDA Compact, XDA Mini)?

So, what "ROCKS" about it?
Always do full backup b4 installing sware.
it does what the MS BT stack does (serial port, headset, activesync), but also adds other profiles (pan, dun, obex, ftp, chat + others from memory)
i.e send files/chat with other mobile phone users, access bt pan, etc... though i am only interested in pan, chat and obex
when i fisrt played with it, i immediately saw why everyone whinges with the bt stack...
it's excellent and stable for me, didn't expierence any bugs...
dutty:
Did you get pan working ?
If so can you please let me know how?
Thanks,
Martin
I'm kinda interested ...
Can u please post a copy of that Toshiba Bluetooth stack u're using so we can all have a chance to have a look at it and maybe modify it to work on our phones
uh, just started the service, restarted the device and connected to it!
BUT, i also installed the toshiba BT stack on my workstation
I'm kinda interested ...

And just more thing ... How did u manage to get that bluetooth stack to run on xda devices since it keeps checking for external SD bluetooth cards and was not designed for internal bluetooth chips ?
Look in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15382&highlight=
Thanks for the link ....... BUT !!
I was able to download the Toshiba BT Stack v5.01 but it won't seem to work on my xda !! Everytime I tap on Bluetooth Setting (from toshiba) It says the following ' An error occurred with the Bluetooth Card. Confirm that the card is working properly.
Both my MS Stack and Widcomm Stacks are disabled and don't conflict with this new Toshiba Stack.
I was wondering how the thread owner got this BT stack running on his xda ?
It works on my XDA Mini just fine. The only problem I'm having is that it won't stay resident when you power off the device.

Oops, sorry, look here for info about turning off the MS BT stack.

Anyone feedback in using on WM2003SE?
Thanks

RE
Sorry, another question.
In the event of a hard reset will my O2 XDA II restore the MS stack with whatever registry settings that were deleted in the process of installating the Toshiba bt stack? Will the Toshiba bt stack be totally removed in the evnet of a hard reset?
Thanks again
yes sir
Found 2 problems.
Cannot connect when call ring.. connect then call is fine.
Cannot Accept call with button on headset.
Any more Problems ???
Please post your problems ..
Hi
i´ve tested the toshiba bt software on my MDA-Compact but haven´t got very good results. First, after installation, it seems to work good with my Royaltek RBT 3000 (GPS), but after i´ve switched off the device while an active bt connection was established with my gps software, the bt-stack broks down and the whole systems seems to be unstable. Even after a softreset the bt-software from toshiba says that they didnt recognize any bt hardware.
Now i am trying to deinstall the bt-soft and can recommend everybody who wants to test to make an backup before ;-)
I think that the software from toshiba could work, when the ms-bt-stack would be completly changed with the toshiba-stack, but doesnt work without problems when both bt-stacks are on the system.

Bluetooth Explorer

Well i beleive this is in a few phones but for reference i use the HTC Artemis (Orbit) and i can't use this product with the built in SP2 Bluetooth Stack. There appears to be no service that will allow it to opperate... i used to use it all the time when i used a toshiba bluetooth stack but that messed up activesync so decided to remove it and now have found i have lost the abbility to use this program. Has anyone had any success in how to use "Bluetooth Explorer" as in the one thata is in the XDA Orbit (and others just cant remember the name) with the Microsoft SP2 Bluetooth Stack.
If it matters its a Dell Wireless 350 hardware that is in the laptop, however i presume its software based as it worked when using the toshiba stack as i said.

bluetooth activesync

im trying to get it to work, but cant. tall thats showing up in services is serial port. not activesync. i want that and bluetooth modem to work with my dell inspiron e1505 which has toshiba bluetooth 350 i think. as far as i know, its just the dell or windows default bluetooth manager.
running DCD 2.3 on my xv6800.
thanks
You could try the Broadcom bluetooth stack on your PC:
http://www.broadcom.com/products/bluetooth_update.php
My bluetooth functionality seems better using it than the MS stack, even for activesync : )
its not working with mine, says there is no bluetooth device present. the website says its for use with broadcom embedded, or usb bluetooth. mine is toshiba embedded, maybe branded for dell
got it now. had to follow the procedure from here:

Widcomm Bluetooth Stack

Hello,
Does somebody know if there is any HTC device that use the Widcomm BT stack instead of standard Microsoft stack?
Thanks,
Emil.

Unfortunately the Touch Pro 2/Tilt 2 does. Why in the world would you want it? Nothing seems to work with it.. Several of my programs that use bluetooth don't detect anything.
I'm writing a BT application and I want to be sure that it works also on devices with the Widcomm stack.
Maybe there is a wrapper for the Widcomm stack that let all BT applications be compatible with it?
Why the OEMs use this stack instead of Microsoft's?

Hi emilbergg
It's to do with the chip that they use for the device. The Broadcomm chip requires the Widcomm software. Essentially, it's a driver issue. Different chip, different driver. I'm guessing the choice of chip is made on a mixture of functionality and cost.
Cheers
