Hi
I have an SPV m500, which is Orange's version of the Magician.
I bought this spv m500 second hand and unlocked it. It works fine, but I didn't see a CD or DVD in the box with the operating system on it. Should there be one? I got a companion CD with ActiveSync and Microsoft Outlook on it, but that was all. Am I missing something?
Thanks

Hi
When I synchronise, the mobile's calender times are all an hour ahead of my PC ones. Does anyone know why, and how I can fix this?

No, you're not missing anything. ActiveSync and OutLook are the only CDs in the box.

I currently have a SPV C500 phone and Pocket Loox 720.
I'm just about to order either the Orange M5000 or O2 XDA Exec.
I realise AS4 is required for the Universal, but will I still be able to sync my other devices.
I expect to hold onto my other devices for a couple of weeks or so until I sort out any of the wrinkles with the Universal.
Anybody else doing this and have experience of syncing WM5/WM2003SE devices on a day by day basis.
Thanks
Mike.
I have an old XDA 2 running WM2003 which syncs perfectly well with AS4 so I don't see why WM2003SE wouldn't work.
Hrmm...mine didn't work. I installed AS4.0 and left my XDAIIs cradle in its USB slot. While the Exec synced properly, the XDAIIs did not.
You can't sync two devices connected at the same time.
Oh, I didn't sync them at the same time!
HI
My PDA2K is close to falling to pieces so its time to upgrade.
The Jasjar just seems TOO big, its bigger than my PDA2K which in my opinion is about as big as I want to go for a device I carry ALL the time.
So I am looking at the K Jam.
In the opinion of people here is it:-
Reliable (bluetooth etc.
readable (its a small screen)
Would you buy it again?
Anything else you think I should consider?
Cheers and MERRY XMAS.

I find the Wizard very reliable. However I still (after weeks of struggle) haven't managed, without ActiveSync, to transfer files/contacts/tasks/etc from my old pda (an ipaq hx2750) to the Wizard. There is an open thread regarding this, but haven't received feedback on the issue.
For me, it is a great limitation that I can't transfer data directly between my Wizard and my cellular and between the Wizard and my old pda...
Hi
Thanks for the the reply.
Are you saying Activesync does not work?
If I cannot get all my data from Outlook to the 9100 I might as well buy another PDA2K.

Activesync 4.1 (latest build from M$) does work with K-Jam. Some users have issues but these are probably pc/firewall issues. Mine works fine on XP SP2/AS4.1/Outlook2003. My first PDA 9Used smartphones for 3 years) and an excellent product. I would recommend and definately buy again!

No, what I'm saying is that the crappy ActiveSync is the only way for me to transfer files from the PC to the PDA. That means that I need to sync my pda with ActiveSync in order to transfer a simple file to the Wizard.
AH okay.
I only use Activesync have never used/tried any other method so I guess I SHOULD be okay!!!!
Cheers.

This is not unique to the Wizard however. Find a solution that works from PDA to Windows Mobile and chances are it will work with the wizard.
I migratd from the PDA2K to the Wizard myself. I prefer the size and bluetooth works much better on the Wizard. Text is readable, though smaller. You get used to holding it a little closer.
I have problems with the fragility of the stylus silo and like the buttons on the PDA2K more but overall am very pleased with the purchase.
I'm very happy with it as well, and quite impressed with the battery time (though I have to say it's my first pda, so I don't really have much reference, but I expected it to be a lot worse).
For file transfer, just use a cardreader... I've been able to access shares through wlan as well though. Havent tried for bluetooth, either for file transfer or for a headset...
Hi. I am a newbie. Received a new Jamin yesterday to replace an imate PDA2. Works great so far. Only 2 problems.
I use Avantgo and previously synced successfully with Activesync 4.1 from my PDA2. However, although Avantgo is correctly set up and I can sync from the Jamin itself when it is in the cradle, I cannot get Activsync to sync automatically on connection. Would appreciate any suggestions. It worked fine with the PDA2 so do not understand why not.
All my old software works with WM 5 except that I use Worldmate Standard Edition. Activsync does not sync and the program itself will not open. I am presuming it is not able to cope with WM 5 but would like to know if others have used successfully.
Thanks for the help.
Hi, jus got my new T-mobile Vario 2 , this is my second post and i am sorry to sound like such a noob! Isit possible to connect to my laptop an sync my device via the inbuilt bluetooth on my laptop! also does anyone rate the i-mate jasjam rom? t-mobile one seems ok for now!
Hi @zReAl_uK
I messed around with Active Sync on my Vario II for a while to get it to work. Couple of things I discovered:
1) the ActiveSync version on the T-Mobile CD wouldn't work, I needed to upgrade it to 4.2
2) the Bluetooth sync doesn't sync files - only mail/contacts info, so i actually found the USB connection more straightforward (besides by mail/contacts are always synched using DirectPush)

Hi guys,
Really hoping someone can help me here as getting very frustrated.
First off, I just need to confirm what model of phone I have! It's the MDA Compact II, so I assumed the Charmer, yet does not have WM5 on it, it's WM 2003 SE. Is this still a Charmer...or a Magician?
Originally I had another unit which came direct from TMobile, which had WM5 on it. I lost it. I bought another one off Ebay but it appears to be an older model phone, with WM 2003 SE on it. (Didn't realise this at the time grrrr).
Anyway I bought a Bluetooth dongle the other day to use with my laptop. My only need for it really is to simply transfer files between the laptop and the MDA.
I've installed the software that came with the dongle (Bluesoleil) but I can't see obviously how I am to transfer files. I can pair the devices but they will not connect with each other. Do I need to use FTP? If so, I can see no provision for this on the MDA.
Hayy-elllllp!
Many thanks in advance,
RHF
Hi, the easiest way how to recognize these units is to look at the information about the device (settings - system). The older version (magician) has 416MHz clock of the cpu, newer version (charmer) has only 195MHz clock of the CPU.
It can only be the Magician. There is no Charmer with WM 2003SE and no Magician with WM5.
