My MDA doesn't connect en synchronize to the computer. I re-installed active sync but that doesn't work.
What could be the problem.
greetings
I had the same problem with my Wizard !!
The soluctionn is ( if you are using Win XP ) ...
go to the Network properties with the usb cable connected .
you will see a new connection ( phone connection) .
then you must enable all windows services to this network .
you will see that all of them are disabled .
after you apply this changes the activeSynch will work fine ...
My activesync is bugging out on me as well. I plug my device in and on the device it says Synchronization Error and then it has the "Attention Required" on the bottom of activesync on the device, on the pc it sits there and says looking for changes, then gives me an error.
--------------edit----------------------
I deleted my activesync's partnership with my device and renamed it from WM_Firstname_Lastname to something more userfriendly and now it works

Hi!
I have tried now on two computers (one old windows 2000 platforn with activesync 4.2 and the other with Windows Vista Ultimate x64 with WMDC) and on the old platform it starts to connect but after a while an error. On the new I get no connection to WMDC. I always use my USB cable. The cable works, both loads and turn my loadinglight from yellow to green. My smartphone is a QTEK 9100 Windows mobile 5.
The error occured after I did scan on the phone for duplicated files and removed them. Afterwards it just wont sync. I have tried some tools, turning of firewall, reinstaling and all of the stuff recommended on the WMDC but now I am lost
What should I do?

You may have removed a critical file that you needed for syncing when you removed the duplicate files. Does whatever program you used for that have a restore option? If not, you may need to backup the files you want to save and do a hard reset.
I have tried a hard reset now and it still dosent work. Now I am deeply lost
Try going to start-->settings-->connections tab-->usb to pc and either check or uncheck the enable advanced network functionality check box and see if that fixes it.
I have the same problem...

I had the same problem before and what I did is to hard reset my phone
activesync worked fine again after that...
tjomibk has already mentioned he has done a hard reset.
remove active sync, download and install the latest and also update the drivers for your HTC.

Try to un-check Enable faster Data Synchronization Under Settings\Connections\..
You do have Active Sync/Windows Mobile Device Center installed on you computer right?
Connecting my device to my windows 7 pc does jack ****. Every time it tries to install some 'Generic Driver Serial', which then fails, and WMDC doesn't connect. I don't know why. Similarly, on the device activesync there is no option to 'sync', just bull**** about making sure i have synchronization software. WMDC seems to be a large step BACK from activesync.
You could try to change the "Enable advanced network functions"-setting in Start -> Settings -> System -> USB to PC.
I had the same problem and this helped.

Automatic updates needs to download an "optional" update for HTC devices... Connect Hermes and do an update... Seems to be a mongrel to do but works fine once its installed...
i had that same error on my cousins hermes. what i did i went to device manager and updated the driver and it worked
now all i gotta do is find a way to get internet sharing to work
first off I'm using windows xp sp2 and ActiveSync 4.5 for my tmus hd2. when my computer starts up i get the error wcescommmgr.exe failed to initialize properly.
i have tried unnstalling repeatedly but still same error and now i can't sync my phone. anyone have a clue here what could be wrong
bumping to get this some more views
any suggestions guys?
just untick the "enable faster connection" button on USB-PC dialog box, and try again.
ihave its not a problem with my phone settings its my computer. on startup i get an error tat says wcescomm.exe failed to initialize properly. it happens even if my phone isn't connected
or can someone tell me another program to use for syncing on win xp
so i suppose noone has had this issue?
Have you tried this:

yeah my computer isn't connected to the internet so i have firewalls turned off. ichecked services in admin tools and found nothing relating to ActiveSync. i really need to sync my phone. mmmy phone gets recognized as disk drive but ActiveSync is faster
ok so i tried tracking down registry entries but it was too confusing. i ado tried reinstalling ActiveSync to my other hard drive and it still does it. wcescomm.exe had failed to initialize properly (0x0000142)
thnx rpx1 it worked for the future its all about missing a profile to active sync.created new system profile aka user account and im good to go
Installed BsBTweaks on my HTC HD2, but now ActiveSync won't connect to my phone. PC O/S is Win XP SP2. I'm running WinMo 6.5 and have the latest ROM for the device from my provider, version 3.14.531.1. I get the message: "Critical communication services have failed to start. Try resetting the mobile device, and then connect again." I haven't yet made any changes to the device using BsBTweaks, I only installed it. Have tried rebooting the phone to no avail. I have to use Disk Drive mode to get at the pictures on my SD card. Is there a way to get ActiveSync working again? I'd probably donate to the developers if this problem could get corrected and I can reasonably figure to keep and use BsBTweaks. Thanks.

Restarted the PC - worked like a charm. Thanks a million. I can breathe again.
...And I just made a modest donation. Thanks very much.
Troubleshooting Sync Connection with Your Computer
You can often solve any temporary sync connection problems by disconnecting your phone from the sync cable, waiting a few seconds, and then reconnecting it. However, sometimes you may experience persistent problems related to your network connection (for example, your Internet connection). You may be unable to sync your phone while there is an active network connection on your computer, or the network connection may be cut when you connect your phone to your computer. If this happens, you can try switching to a serial USB connection for your phone:
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab.
2. Tap Menu > All Settings > Connections > USB to PC.
3. Clear the Enable faster data synchronization check box.
4. Tap Done.
