In car Charger for MDA compact

Hi All,
I have MDA compact unlocked. When I use a in car charger, it does not charge the phone when I plug the cable into the phone.
I have to do a soft reset with the USB cable attached and then the orange LED will come on. Now, I do not always want to do a soft reset everytime that I wanna charge my phone in the car. Hows anyone had this problem?
Thanks in advance.
im using an orange spv c500 car charger and mines working fine? what charger do you have? motorolla? spv? imate?
I brought one from ebay. so most likely to be a third party make.
How much is your charger?
I think you need the fifth pin connected to ground. This is what the original chargers do. You can either buy a special car cable for the SDA-Music or Magician, or cut the existing cable of your power supply and solder it correctly (Pin 5 to ground). What I did was to solder a 5V car adapter together with the cable of the Magician (Pin 5 to ground), the cable of my GPS mouse and of my BT Headset. You can do that too, provided that the car adapter delivers enough power (800 mA to 1 A) and all the devices you want to load are 5V ones.

Power supply

I have a 8125 from cingular, and a friend of mine gave me a power supply for a T-Mobile MDA. As far as I know, those are the same phones. Is it save to use an MDA power supply on an 8125? The connectors are identical.
ya, its just a mini usb!!! you can use most mini usb cables with the phones!

Car Charger - Doesn't function as intended

Have 3 devices.... which when used with two different car charger cables and several vehicles give the following consistent results:-
1. O2 Atom - Doesn't recognise any external power
2. HP rw6828 - Recognises external power, shows battery charging but the battery discharges rapidly
3. Dopod 818 Pro - Recognises external power, shows battery charging and does charge
Any ideas would be appreciated as both O2 and HP seem unable to help.
did you try both:
1. adapter
2. USB charging?
Hi,
Same problem for me on atom. I think the atom is a power hungry device, you'll need much more power from the car charger. I bought an excellent item from boxwave, called versacharger pro. (http://www.boxwave.com/products/versachargerpro/index.htm)
With a simple usb cable, it charges in my car really fast, and works perfectly too as a wall charger. It isn't cheap, but worth the money.
Hope it helps!

818pro will only power up on AC supply!

My 818pro can only power up when i charge it through the AC socket. When I disconnect it from the AC , it will switch off straight away!
Also, it will not power up when i connect it via USB too! What happened , and what should i do???? I can only go bootloader when I am connected to AC supply!

Charging: Power Lead - 580mA vs 1.0A

Hi
The charger that came with my HTC P3600 says 5V, 1A. However most of my other miniUSB chargers which I use with a I-mate JAMin & K-JAM say 580mA or 500mA. I also have some adapters for the HTC P3600 which would allow me to plug in one of these miniUSB chargers. The question is should I? Would it make any difference? In case you're wondering why I would want to do this, its because I have a charger at work, home, girlfriends, in the car etc. And I would rather have a few adapters than shell out for loads more chargers. Thanks for listening!
Well, the Amp on your charger is how much Juice it can deliver.
So as far as I can guess you would have 2 scenarios, 1 is it will work but it will charge your HTC slower, or second option is that the charger will overheat.
