OK! So I did it! Even though there were no guides and I basically had to figure it all out on my own, I did it! Basically I used XDA-Tools and then OSImageTool to copy the rom I cooked at www.romkitchen.de
Anyway, now I am running 3.17, and its unlocked and running great, but its Win2002....
I want to upgrade to 2003, what base rom should I use? Does it matter or will my phone be 'relocked' ?

Thanks.
Your device will stay unlocked.....
ROM selection shgould be ok, buut i still prefer the 4.01.12 ROM.
Autoconfig selection depends on the country you´re living and provider you use. MAybe it would be better to use the ROmspace of the Autroconfig data to include more programs and enter the Config settings manually....

I also noticed the bootloader is newer, this is version 5.22
... still researching what differences there are.
research done: this bootloader is more like 5.15 than it is like 5.17
- two 5.15 commands are back: 'r2ca' and 'sddump'
- one new command: 'stress'
- 'u' command is gone.
- 5.17 'checksum' command is gone
- a new menu entry to save gsm+ce to sd was added to
the flash utilities menu
- they left in a lot more debugging stuff in the sd-card code
( as they did in 5.14, 5.15, but not in 5.17 )
- monitor got a new command '0x0c' to get the version.
- the 'flashkey' stuff is gone
Hi, XDA developer Itsme
What tool do you use to tell the changes of files?
Thanks
ida but In this case strings would have sufficed I think.
and the actual comparing in this case I did with vim, you view differences of up to 4 files simultanouosly. diff might have done the trick too.
and for the differences between rom versions, I wrote a little perl script
to parse the output of 'md5sum */files/*' and sort the output such
that the differences stand out.
more differences, in the operator section:
myO2.lnk added to start menu
O2 smart Menu Light.PPC_2577.CAB added to startop for O2-UK
Action Update.lnk moved to programs ( from start menu)
AEB_o2_en.dll added to action-backup dir
AER_o2_en.dll added to action-resource dir
AEU_o2_en.dll added to action-update dir
AE_o2_en.dll added to action-lock dir
AECommon.dll added to .../AECommon
AERASManager added to aecommon
aeresource.exe added to aeresource
AE_en.dll added to action framework dir
framework.exe added to framework dir
myo2.exe is gone
framework.ae is gone
selfupdate.exe is gone

Too many people report problems during the RSU upgrade process. This is not specific to 4.21, but it's our guess it happens to all RSU upgraders equally. Our advise: use whatever OS ROM makes you happy (ours is best...), but change radio firmware only if you know some known bug that is affecting you is fixed in the version you're upgrading to.
this new rom version....
o2 have been sneaky ****s and you can no longer connect and browse on the net using WAP dialup also does it with wap browser too
it comes up on the page as:
FORBIDDEN
You were denied access because:
Access denied by access control list.
i can now no longer display a page and browse the net the real propper net for free
it does the same on wap too usine ezos v2.5 it was working all fine on rom v3.15.15 but with this version it just doesnt do nothing
to get wap working in dial up wap i have to make it use wap to dial then once connected i go into its optiongs and change it to alwats dial gprs and then the wap works fine on wap dialup.
wap works fine on gprs but i dont have a contract for gprs data so i cant use the real net with gprs...
anyone got a solution to sort this please????
lmk thankyou
cs response?
gee... what did o2 say when you rang up to complain?
Thank you forum (especially Jeff - for the ROM Kitchen, Qman - for the radio stack, Yorch and Aurora13 - for obtaining 4.00.xx for T-mobile)!
From reading the majority of the past posts (since the beginning) and over the course of a week, I have backed up my original ROM to a SD card via the bootloader method and went from this:
(US T-mobile MDA)
ROM v3.14.40 ENG
ROM date 11/26/02
Radio v6.18
Protocol 324e4
to this:
ROM v4.00.16 ENG
ROM date 07/10/03
Radio v6.24
Protocol 324e4
(via the desktop .exe file)
Everything works just fine except for one concern...under Phone->Tools->Options, I no longer have the "More" and/or "Band" (900/1900) tabs available. I know I could switch bands via the bootloader method; otherwise, will I miss anything by not having these options available?
With a business trip to Europe coming up, if I downgrade back to 3.14.40, will retaining the 6.24 radio stack be much of an issue?
Thanks again in advance to anyone who can help!
There be a slight problem with the downgrade involving the radio stack but that can be overcome by removing a certain file from the startup folder during the radio stack part.
But I'll make it a little bit easier for you, since you're California and I'm in Nevada just send me a 64MB SD card and I'll do a .bin file install to it and send it back. That way you can just install the correct or needed WM2003 ROM with the options that you seek or need.
Anyhow if this sound like a plan just drop me an email, you already have my correct/needed email address so feel free to use it
HTH
Thanks again Qman!
I've just sent you a message to your email addy.

hi guys
does any body have a uk m1000 extended rom
I could do with a copy of the UK Orange Extended Rom image as well. Can anyone help please
Has anyone succeeded in getting a copy of the Orange UK m1000 Extended ROM?
come on guys somebody must have it please
orange extended rom
Hi Guys
Can any body supply me with a extended rom from the the new uk orange rom...............PLEASE
I don't know if I can help, but if I can I'll happily do so.
I have an ORange SPV M1000, and have used the Extended Rom unlock tool (available in these forums to unlock my extended rom).
If what you are looking for is a copy of all the files in there, then let me know and I'll zip them and post them into this thread.
I have the latest version of the Orange Rom - but it is the one without the MMS capabilities (both are available for download from Orange's website)
Anyway if its any help let me know.
Cheers
hi siezear
that would be great--------cheers
copy of extended rom from Orange SPV M1000
As requested, please find attached the contents of the ORange Extended rom.
I have downloaded the ROM that includes the MMS capabilities from the website and tried using the Windows Mobile ROM editor (available from this forum) to edit its content - but the default passwords don't seem to work, if anyone knows what passwords to try for Orange ROMs, let me know and I'll post that version here too,
otherwise if I ever hard-reset by mistake then I'll install that into the PPC and use the extrom tools to unlock it and post it.
Cheers
With ER2003Edit you have to
1. Select the correct ROM type when opening the ROM file
2. Enter the correct password manually:
OS ROM
NK.nbf 0x20040304
Extended ROM
ms_.nbf 0x20040305
Radio ROM
radio_.nbf 0x20040306
Keep in mind that when you want to change an Extended ROM file to be able to use it during an upgrade procedure, you also need to update the checksum (using xda2nbftool)
Thanks edsub,
I have copied the files out of the extended rom - though the program gave numerous errors (Object variable or with block variable not set)
Here is the version of the Orange rom which includes the MMS.
Cheers all,
Hello
As i was having some peculiar problems with existing ROM Version, I reverted back to Orignal O2 Asia ROM.
Reverting back went successful. I saw that after reverting back I stopped at Setup will start in 3 seconds and i restarted the O2 to get the extended rom details. I copied all the files on my Laptop and then I used the first 416 Bytes and copied in the new extended ROM downloaded. After complete activity, i found that i am not able to boot the O2, SO I reverted back with the Orignal O2 Asia ROM. Still i am not able to see the Storage
Something which i think i did wrong:Orig O2 Asia ROM having files
ROM:1.12.00 WWE
ROM date 05/28/05
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol:1337.42
ExtROM Version:1.12.550 WWE
Big Storage ROM File which i used for insert 416 bytes was downloaded from ftp site which was BigStorage_ROMs_WWE_1.13.00.zip
What went wrong?
Why i am not able to see the storage part?
HOw should I recover back the storage containing extended ROM part?
Please Help
Also, which is the best stable ROM with exact file path and also the extended ROM file with Big Storage.
Incase you have some files which you would like to share pls mail me on [email protected]
Thanks
Manmohan
After deleting ExtROM and changing ROM & Radio into 1.13.00 WWE I noticed there is no MMS folder or abilty in my JAM.
What happened to it?
OOOps, found it
Simply added again from ExtROM backup the MMS composer.
