is something wrong with my MDA Compact - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Recently i've noticed that the power light remains orange instead of turning green on my mda compact despite the battery being 100% full. is this OK and i'm being paranoid or is something wrong with the phone. I haven't changed anything in the phone, although a few days ago something happened and it crashed with a black screen and when i soft-reset the phone i found that the battery had been drained to around 42%. i just took it that something had happened while reading the SD card and it just stuck and drained the battery but since then i noticed the light problem. i'm not suggesting that it has anything to do with it and may have been there for a while but i only discovered it because i started checking the phone more often in case it crashes again
thanks
just to update the post - It shows 100% but continues to show the state as "Charging" which is why the light is always on orange

HELPPPPP !!!!!!!! o2 NEO DEAD ????

This is crazy. I made a few calls before I slept and my battery was at 40% level. When I woke up and saw my phone wouldnt come out from standby mode. I saw none of the lights on my phone were blinking. I assumed that the phone shut down by itself. I pushed the power button it started and in 3 seconds it shut down by itself. I assumed that its battery is dead so I connected it to my computer but I did not see any orange charging light. So I connected it to the wall charger. This is really shocking I saw a red indicator light it stayed there for 2 seconds and went away. I am really scared my phone is not starting please help !!!
...same issue here! -> solved!
Hi! I own a XDA Neo for one week now and this morning this happened to me: I did set an alarm the evening before to wake me up, battery was at 82%, so I did not connect the device to external power. I woke up in time, but not by the alarm. Instead the XDA was off and when I presses the 'on' button it did a soft reset... The reset reached the Windows screen (after the provider logo screen) and the alarm went on. I disabled the alarm and the XDA froze. I did two more soft resets, both with the same result. When I tried to 'reanimate' the device the fourth time, nothing happened at all. No soft reset, no hard reset, no boot loader, no indicator LED when connecting it to the charger
I removed the battery, the SD and the SIM and tried several times to reset the damn thing - no fu..... way! Does anyone know the 'magic trick' or should I send the device in for exchange/repair (it's one week old!)???
Thanks for helping a newbie
EDIT
I don't believe it, the battery was simply discharged completely! From 82% at 10pm the evening before to 0% at 7am the next morning. With BT and WiFi off, excellent signal from provider, no other progs running in the background and screen shut off as well... What a crappy little piece of sh..! Guess I have to get a more powerfull one from Ebay.
Same problem here, damn it!

How did you figure out that the battery discharged completely?
My XDA Neo was fine this morning with 22% battery and just after lunch (without using it) it stopped working! And it's one week old!!
I have the same thing, have no idea what to do!
First time it happened i exchanged my device, but the problem was still there and i thought the battery were dead. i bought the new one- and it work!!! But now it happened again!!

Charging LED Red, Everything working, Multiple Batteries.

Ok, I recently picked up a used Jasjar (decent price deal) and would make a good backup to my 9000 (when it's screen is fixed).
The owner changed the case on it from the I-mate grey one to a black O2 Xda Exec case.
In the process the owner missed a few things that I have been correcting along the way to bring the unit back to full functionality.
I have nearly everything working except the ChargeStatus/Notification LED.
Notifications are coming up RED flashes (like if i set notifications for voicemail).
Charging is Red, and never turns green even after the battery hits 100%.
The charge works fine and the battery thus charged has lasted about as long as it used to in my Qtek. I figured to try my battery to rule out a bad battery and so I would have a comparable runtime analysis.
Synchronization and all other features appear to be working. Just this frakking LED. Heck, even the notifications in and charging in Red (instead of orange) doesn't bother me to much, just it not turning green when done bothers me. I've charged 3 different batteries (2 known working in 9000 (heck even turn green if I connect my screenless 9000)(heven't tried the one that came with the phone yet).
The Network/Wifi/Bluetooth LED appears to be working correctly with Green and Blue, etc.
EDIT:
I forgot to mention that I have tried different flashes including the same full release I was running on my Qtek 9000 without any change to the functioning of the LED.
Does anyone know what the error would be like if the little battery on the main-board was bad? i.e. would it then never list as completely charged and thus even after the main battery reached 100% never go green since the on-board battery was dead?
Really trying to figure this out as it is ticking me off to no end and I am worried that in it's current state where it stays in "charging" mode even after the battery hits 100% that it will do damage over time to the battery itself.
Any help/thoughts/suggestions/pointers/ideas/etc appreciated.

Jam Battery Meter Problem..

Hi everybody,
I'm having a strange problem with my i-mate jam.. I've replaced the battery 2 months ago with a new one. The new battery works like a charm.. I can make calls with only 6% of charge..
Anyway, about a week ago, the battery meter started jumping all over the place; all of a sudden the meter would show 100% charge then change to "Charging" state with 0% charge (both the primary AND the backup battery)!! Then in a while change back to 100%, then eventually it goes back to the real charge value (65% for example).. And then it goes to 0% "Charging" and so on.....
When I connect the charger, the device shows the right charge value, but sometimes it gets stuck @ exactly 81% even after 2 hours of charging, the LED is constantly yellow as usual but I can see a green flash every 8 seconds or so..
Sometimes, the device behaves correctly and charges to 100% without any problems, but when that problem happens it gets so irritating and annoying, and I am totally confused about it coz I can't make out a logical explanation to why this keeps happening.. I didn't install/uninstall any new programs.
Do you guys know anything about that problem??
Thanks ahead for your replies..
P.S: here's my ROM info:
ROM version: 1.11.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/14/2005
Radio version: 1.11.00
does the old battery also behaves like that?

No, the old battery never behaved like that.. It's a new problem. Anyway, I discarded the old battery so I can't tell if it behaves the same or not.
As I'm writing right now, the phone is connected to the laptop via USB cable, the LED is yellow and the "Power" menu shows 0% battery and "Charging" status! It's been like that for almost 30 mins now! I have no idea what's going on, the phone appears to be charging but the power meter indicates 0%!!
Could it be something with the charging circuitry??
Sound like a typical hardware problem.

It could be. However, the meter has been behaving normally for 2 weeks now. And I'm linking the problem to low temperatures. Apparently, the new battery is of poor quality, so when the ambient temps. go below 12C the metering circuit starts showing false values.
I'll keep monitoring the problem and report if anything new happens.
Thanks all for your help.
i'm not sure but here in New Delhi when the temperaures have come down to almost zero, my device sometimes starts behaving like this but it corrects itself in about 5 seconds.and the battery is what was bundles with it and has been working perfectly from past 2 years.

Faulty Charging Circuit

Just over a week ago I found my battery life had become very short. A few 5 minute phone calls and it was dropping to 30%.
I charged the phone from the wall charger switched off to hopefully re-calibrate the battery.
It was then that I noticed a few hours later that the led was flashing orange and green.
Started the phone and the status was 100%. Life was still very poor so I thought as the battery was about 12 months old I may as well order a new HTC replacement.
The led would always stay on orange when charging the new battery even after an 8 hour wall charge and upon starting the phone it showed 99% charge.
A couple of days later it started behaving normally - going green and showing 100%
Last night however when putting it on charge ( 75% ) the led started flashing orange green again.
An hour later I was woken to the sound of the phone resetting itself then turning off because the battery was too low
Attempts to recharge resulted in the orange charging light coming on for about 10 seconds then turning off.
I found if I waited 20 minutes the orange light would stay solid indicating it was charging.
This morning when I turned it on the battery level was showing 100% so I hooked it up to the pc to do a backup. Backup completed then there was no orange light - battery was showing nearly empty - and in the status tab instead of Li-ion it said unknown !
Phoned Orange care and they said I had a faulty power circuit and are sending out a replacement.
I have noticed a large increase in posts recently regarding battery charging problems and phones resetting etc. and hope this helps others.

Update
My replacement phone is working well and there was nothing wrong with the "old" battery.
So if your battery life suddenly drops and you haven't changed anything on your phone investigate the charging circuit.

[Q] battery problem, red led light is blinking, bought new battery, no bettering

Hi guys!
I know, that there are some threads about the topic, but i think, here it is a bit different...i´ll describe:
Everything was OK with my withe G1, since I forgot to recharge the battery, and the G1 switched off. I wanted to recharge it, but - you know- the red led light blinked...i read different threads etc, and then I decided, to buy a new battery. The new battery arrived yesterday, and I put it in my G1, tried to switch it on, and it worked. I was quite happy! I taped it on the charging unit, and the first problem: the battery display didnt moved, it remained at 23%, also after a few hours at the charging unit. I knew the problem, because it was the same with my old battery, but it doesnt interest me, because the battery recharged, only the battery indicator showed that not. I thought OK, dont thinked about it, and waited. Today: I took my G1, yes, battery display at 23%, no problem. I switched it off and after a few hours I wanted to switch it on. Second problem - F**K! The red led light blinked...and now, the battery doesnt recharge at all. The G1 works now only, if the charging unit is put on it, if I remove it, the G1 switchs off. Its the same behavior with the old battery.
I dont know what to do now, because i dont think, that it is a hardwarebug, because yesterday it worked, with the brandnew battery. Or is it possible, that the G1 destroys my batterys while switching it off?
I hope, that there are solutions for this...because im loosing my temper slowly...
Can you charge the battery if the phone is off? Red led light should show. You should wait even 30-60 minutes for this - it depends of battery discharge. If the red light will not show this will means that your hardware is broken (phone or phone charger). You can try use another phone charger to test.
That works sometimes....at the moment not, but one hour before, yes.
I had the G1 with the USB cable on the PC, the phone was off, the light was red (not blinking). I waited about 50minutes, then disconnected, tried to switch it on - nothing except a red led light - blinking
At the moment, there isnt any led light, if i connect the phone to the charger unit or the PC...
It looks like hardware problem :/
Would be OK, because there is still warranty.
But what irritates me, is, that it worked without problems, when the battery was charged. Also with the new battery...worked good, since I switched the phone off.
I only want to be sure, because the return merchandise authorization (rma) takes quite long time...
I have the same problem. last week i bought the phone, and used it till the phone battery was empty. I tried to recharge the phone, but i wouldn't go on, only the red light blinking. I had the phone charged for 2 days, with the og charger, no result. Looked like the phone was dead.
Today i tried it again, still no result. All of a sudden the phone turned on and was charging. It is now on 99%.
Should i contact HTC?
edit:
sorry, wrong forum
Just a wild guess. It could also be the ROM that you have. I had a similar problem with my battery drained out like that with flashing red light. Come to find out later that it was something to do with the ROM (CM6.x) that I was using.
