Universal compared to Wizard

Im a hapy user of the Universial.
Today is the Wizard released to some shops.
The specification sounds great for such a small device!
I'm not shure whats the advantage of the Universal.
Only UMTS and a slightly bigger screen? UMTS only ruins my runtime...
What do you think?
The VGA screen is 99% why I'll get a Universal. If the wizard offered that, I'd probably buy one of them instead. As it is, my options are VGA PPC + phone or Universal.
Same here. If the Wizard had a VGA screen I would have bought one of them instead of the Universal.
Why does everyone want a VGA screen? Surely all you use it for is a phone and email?
I was deeply impressed by the screen of the Universal.
I often have to use the terminal client to login to windows server. The VGA-Screen is a big helper. (Maybe sometimes a very smart person allows terminal client to run full screen)
But I'm not shure if the screen is a sufficient advantage to the wizzard. The Wizzard may "canabilize" all Universal efforts...
I need to use the web more than I'd like on my XDA and QVGA is a real pain. Mostly, though, I need to run some bespoke software that really doesn't work too well in QVGA - VGA will make a world of difference. Also, when I need to use remote desktop, it will actually be usable!
IMHO the Wizard and Universal serve different purposes. 3G beats the hell out of GPRS and the keyboard of the Universal is stellar compared to the Wizard one. And I haven't even mentioned the difference between 3.6" and 2.8" screen. Almost a full inch across. For server management and maintenance, I would never buy the Wizard. For me the wizard would be to take to the pub or the sporting club when I do not need the full features that he Universal offers me. (so stop comparing apples to pears ;-))
Ah I see, so is the market for this more aimed at IT Pros than the general consumer?
Sounds about right, saldous. Top-end power users (like IT professionals), or just plain old show off's!!

O2 Plus can work on WM5.0 PDA

Tested on my 818pro and working well. But little bit slow. My friend use Wizard also work fine.
Extract the file, you have 2 cab file.
The first one with name 1_o2p202200106_wm5s.cab
The second one with name 2_O2Plus.v2.0.Patch.cab
Copy those 2 files to your device.
1. Run the first one, do not soft reset
2. then install the second one
3. Soft reset
Enjoy
what does exactly o2PLUS include (is it their SMS plus or dialling thing or what?) In case it is say SMS, does it REPLACE original apps?
too bad it isn't vga
Can you upload the other stuff also :
O2 SMS Plus ,O2 MediaPlus ,O2 Setup Wizard,O2 Self Diagnostic ,FM Radio ?

SMSPlus has been posted here before. Here:
'O2 Plus can work on WM5.0 PDA' can someone tell me what this program is for and how good is it?
Is the o2 Active User Interface asian version...o2 AUI is slowing the device but this o2 Plus is something that is ... just something that i wouldn't want on my device ... poor design too much space ocuppied on the screen (not to talk about the flickering) not very intuitive ... and not to be modest but even a rookie can make this plugins in max a week.
This is my first impression on o2 XDA Exec running on latest WWE RUU.
I'm only interested in the other apps of the package related to radio, music player , equalizer - they look nice in the snapshot on their seeo2 website.

O2 Phone Plus
Does any one manage to get the O2 Phone Plus working on the 818 pro

O2 Exec versus Eten Glofish M700

Some of you may recall that I had problems with an O2 Exec last year and eventually sent it back.
However having increased the hard disk on my machine and updated to XP SP2 I feel I might give it another go as all forum users suggested that the lack of SP 2 was my problem.
However the M700 has now hit the markets and I feel that this might be a better option.
Does anyone out there have any views on the pros and cons of these two units please.
Any help appreciated.

I can only give you a few merging photos of the devices for better imagination (click on the thumbnail for full view)
You can find more photos in this gallery
I thinks the answer is depend on your need.
Me my self will stick o Universal, the reason:
1. I don't use the GPS feature like found on M700
2. I need a 3G feature like found on universal.
3. I'm fall in love with screen resolution 640x480 like on universal.
4. I'm not using EDGE feature on M700
5. Infrared, old stuff but i use it regulary found on Universal
6. I don't need 2Mp camera resolution like M700, coz i have my own digital camera.
7. it's Easier to type with universal
8. And I can install crossbow on my Universal.
That's my opinion, and i'm going to buy universal right now.

Looking for beta-testers

Hi everyone !
I'm requesting a bit of help : I'm finishing up the latest release of Skinz Sudoku Pro (freeware version will come back a few days later, I have some things to adjust first ^^), version 1.30, and need beta-testers now...
The main features to test in the version :
- Better speed on slow devices and VGA
- Bugfixes (hints, awards, etc...)
- Custom sudokus (enter sudokus from a newspaper and play it later on...)
- New menu (nothing major, just to allow more stuff like custom sudokus ^^)
- Optimized ram use some more, smaller exe
The save format has been updated to allow custom sudokus. Because of this, people using very old saves may have their saves corrupted. To limit the damage, Skinz Sudoku will automatically create a backup of old saves. If you have problems, please send me that backup and I'll try to fix it...
Devices I'm looking for to test on (1 of each if possible) :
- WM2003SE, WM5, and WM6 240x320 PocketPCs
- 480x640 PocketPC
- Devices having the slow display driver problems (HTC TyTN II, HTC Touch Dual, etc...)
- 240x320 Smartphones
If you have one (or more ^^) devices corresponding to my needs, please PM me your email and the device you have (name + OS + screen size), I'll send you a test copy as soon as possible.
Thanks to everyone !!!
(of course, any help with feedback will get you a free copy once the final version is released : )
i can test it in a smartphone running WM6
I don't play too often, but I would be glad to help. I have a Blue Angel running WM 6.1 (one of the pdaviet versions, don't ask me which one cause I don't remember ), 240x320 screen size.
Tester
I will test on mogul with no2 5060 rom
I'll test on my TYTN II for you
I currently have Skinz Sudoku freeware installed on my TyTN II.
That version runs great.
I you still need it, I can test your new version on my TyTN II.

Ok tried it and this is what I get (see pic below). The only way clear it is to soft reset.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Just an FYI..Perpetual image viewer did the same thing...
I could also test on X51V with WM6.1 I'm really addicted to sudoku
well, I played with it for a bit. Used every option and I have to say it looks great! Really fast, smooth transitions and animations. Will try it a bit more and see if I can find anything wrong with it, but so far I got nothing!

Yes as soon as I launch it. I can play it and the top bar just sits in the middle. Only way to clear it is to soft reset. Again the image viewer does the same thing, but it I play pipes it works fine. Not sure if you use similar coding for each app. The unit I'm using is an HTC Advantage
Not a big sudoku fan but i have a WM2003 device if it'll help. An Alpine with an official O2 ROM. Also got a non phone WM5 PDA, HP iPAQ rx1950.
I have a VGA device = i can help.
Well Here is my result :
tried it on my friends Himalaya running wm 2003se it works
tried it on my Blueangel running WM5 it works
tried it on my Himalaya WM 6.1 It works
tried it on my SP running WM 6..it worked in portrait mode only and its screen resulution is 240X320
I have an Atom Exec and am ready to try it.

got my hands on the qik .cab download

This is for the touch, but I dont see why it wont work on the Hermes. Good luck.
http://s3.amazonaws.com/qik_production/clients/150/Qik_ppc_0.1.10.cab
If you didnt know, this is to stream live video to the internet. It can be viewed at qik.com. I installed it and it launches but then closes right away. Maybe someone who is better at this can have a look and see if it can be made to work.
edit:I extraced the .cab and see that the .xml file has this line; <parm name="OSVersionMax" value="6.0" /> and Im running 6.1. What can I use to recompress this into a .cab after changing that value?
Hey just an fyi
Thanks for posting. I thought I would let you know it worked on my vzw 6800. Previously when I went to dl it said not supported.
Give Livecast a try it works on the 8525

Same problem
Hi-- i just tried the kaiser version on my hermes and it works, but it closes as soon as I hit stream. I'm convinced its because I don't have a chance to log into my qik account and it won't let me stream to whoever's account my cab is set up for. I also don't see why it wouldn't work for mine.
I do use livecast, but I only get 100 mb... at highest settings 300kb/s upstream... usually average around 150 kb in practice, I get about 1.5 hours worth of video. So, i was hoping to be able to get more storage out of qik... if anyone has a fix or workaround for the qik cabs on a hermes I'd love to hear it.
Otherwise, right on with previous poster.. .livecast rules!!!
