i have failed miserably in the attempt to get wifi working properly on my 8125 with the new IMATE rom flashed.
i downloaded the original cinular rom from the ftp and am going to flash it back. I notice 2 files on the ftp, a zip and an rar, i assume they are both the same .nba file because of size?
I am going to use aWizard to flash it back. I am not sure how the splash image portion should be done, and i want to make sure i do everything right.
Anyone done this yet?
Once i do it i will post my results on the 3 routers i have curently, and my success at logging into them with the wizard with the SAME settings ive been trying with the imate rom.
Anxious for any responses. thanks.
Dan
good luck. I have been using the 2.16.9.1 WWE rom on my cingular 8125 since the day the imate rom was noticed on clubimate's site. I have connected to 2 different access points (Netgear WG302 and a dlink xxx??) The netgear uses WPA TKIP and the dlink does not use any encryption. Both work flawlessly. did you install any original cingular cabs when you were using the I-Mate rom?

I had same problem after upgrading MDA pro with new iMate rom 1.30
I use d-link DSL-G604T wifi router; can connect to home network but when try to surf the web from ppc it always connect through gprs; no access if phone is off.
Manually enter IP address could solve the issue?

Same rom for me too. I can detect the routers but cannot connect...
I just ran K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship.exe, let that instal, and also let the customizations install. Nothing else.
Any ideas?
is it not detecting, not getting an IP, or getting an IP but not getting out?

I have the same problem. In fact I started a thread about it a couple days ago. It connects, but doesn't allow data to pass (I do get IP Addy). I also can't use passthrough on the laptop.
I loaded a very few of the Cingular cabs and actually narrowed it down to one of two that totally killed my WiFi connection. However, if you find the thread I made, I also found a registry entry referring to a preferred connection, and MEdia Net was in there (I'm thinking is the problem, but don't know how to change).
Used aWizard and sucessfuly installed the Cingular ROM i got from the XDA ftp site.
WiFi works like a charm, with the same settings that the unit had with the new IMATE ROM. This is very upsetting!
Anyone have any clue why this is?
Also - since I am not using the IMATE ROM anymore, any way to restore the original boot screens, delete the HTC one, and the IMATE screen and replace it with the Cingular? Reason I ask is i need to exchange this phone within my 30 day return period because the keyboard is loose.
Thanks

I upgraded to SER last week. I love the update, but I've had a lot of problems connecting via GPRS. Specifically, I'm now asked for a username and password where I wasn't before. The phone seems to make a connection if I don't enter anything, but can never get to a server. Seems like a problem with nameservers, but I've checked over the settings a couple of time. Is there some way to fix this problem? Has anyone else encountered similar issues? Also, would it be possible to return to my old ATT rom without relocking my phone? Sorry if these questions are pretty basic.
Try the new ppc2003 4.00.05 rom. I have it with attws in the US and it works flawlessly. If you are not leaving ATTWS dont worry about having your sim locked right now. Get a card reader and do everything via sd card flashing. you will not have all the problems you see people having in this forum.
thanks for the advice. which one are you using, with or without radio update?
thanks

I use the ATTWS Radio A.20.10 and the T-Mobile WME 2003 4.00.10 and the combination is working well in the Los ANgeles area on the ATTWS network.
It sounds like you tried to setup your network connection the way ATTWS reccomends in WME 2002. This will not work! Forget about the proxy settings, they do not work on WME 2003 (I haven't tested on 4.00.10 but I did test on 4.00.01 and 4.00.05). The proper settings are:
1. Create a new connection
2. Name it whatever you want
3. Slecte Cellular Line (GPRS)
4. Set the access point to "PROXY"
5. select finish, you are done
It should work just fine with always on GPRS.
where can I locate that radio stack?
thanks

That radio stack is part of the current WME2002 release from the Siemens' web site. Download it and install the whole thing, then using the SD card method just update the WIndows CE portion to 4.00.10. If you have already upgraded the Windows CE portion, then you must copy the 4 files (2-RSUPGrade and 2 Monitor_UL_bs) files to the devices \windows directory and execute the RSUpgrade.exe (not the cps). YOu should see several threads on how to do this throughout the ROM Updates Forum.
Do be careful as RSUpgrades are the most dangerous and tricky and we have seen more problems in that area than any other.
I'm new to this forum and it seems like a great resource. I have seen this question answered but the answers are still above my head in terms of complexity. I've got an AT&T branded SX56 running 2002 and an XDA-Developers ROM (I think). It is unlocked, I am guessing through the use of an XDA Developers tool for unlocking. I'm in Colorado and using the phone with T-mobile. My question is this, I'd like to upgrade to 2003 and have downloaded the file to do so from Siemens website for free, which is great. It had some nice enhancements and I thought I'd upgrade to it. So, I downloaded/installed the new ActiveSync v3.71 and then tried to run the upgrade. I got the same message many have gotten apparently saying that the ROM Image is not compatible. The specs are;
current
Model PW10A1
ROM 3.17
English
upgraded
Model PW10B1
ROM A.30
English
In reading through the posts it seems that I need to upgrade the ROM of the device, but I still get lost looking at "cooking a ROM", etc and what exactly I need to do. Making this a little more urgent is the fact that after I tried to upgrade the phone (which gave me the ROM error) my internet connection on the phone (which was working fine) suddenly doesn't work with explorer or outlook on my phone giving me an error "Trouble Connecting; Unable to connect with current settings" even though I didn't change the settings and they look exactly as they did before. So, I feel like I've messed something else up on the phone even though it didn't get to install the whole upgrade.
So, any advice for a novice? Thanks in advance, I appreciate any help you can give.
Best regards,
chefandy
the official AT&T release for WM2003 is an exe file contains both ROM & RSU upgrade, and it aparently designed for PW10B devices (900/1900 MHz).
i think the first part of the faulty upgrade (usually RSU) affected your device ... i really hope not
chech your device info and tell us what's there. if u can still get to the boot loader screen and activesync can still connect to the device, then it's not a severe damage. I think successful RSU upgrade with the right stack would solve it.
I'm not sure what the boot loader screen is, but the device still syncs just fine and seems to be working ok except for the internet connection issue. The funny part is that I can connect to the GPRS connection by going to the connections screen, but then when I transfer to Outlook or Explorer they do not recognize the connection as something they can use.
Is the Siemens upgrade I downloaded (http://www.my-siemens.com/MySiemens...C%2FMC%2FSX56POCKETPCPHONE%2Fdanda%2F,00.html) different from the AT&T upgrade you mention? I also saw there was a T-mobile upgrade to 2003 but it was not available when I tried to download it from tmobile.com. Thanks!
That's great! .. ... It seems I misunderstood your issue ... I thought you lost the RSU part.
I think something wrong happens to the registry values ... you see, there is a reference for each defined connection in the registry which all applications that may require to connect to GPRS or WAP or MMS can refer to.
I suggest that you delet ALL connections and start the setting from scratch ... I can't guarantee it will work since some applications may be required to be uninstalled and reinstalled to use the new connections references (if it has smart uninstaller!!).
The last resort is a hard reset which will bring the registry to the original setup.
Well, I did what you suggested and started with a new connection and it worked  Thanks!
Now I'm back to the original question about whether or not I can safely upgrade to WM2003 or not? Thanks again for all your help.
The answer is YES! ... it's easy to upgrade ur ROM to WM2003 if u know what ur doing.
spend some time reading this forum on how to cook a new ROM from the kitchen ... and it's better to get yourself SD card for flashing and backup.
Hi,
I've got an Orange M500, upgraded with the Imate ROM 1.12.00WWE - ever since I upgraded the ROM, I can connect to my Orange GPRS service fine, however, if I disconnect then try to reconnect again, the connection fails. I have to turn on flight mode, then turn on the radio again in order to get GPRS access.
I've tried upgrading to Radio 1.13.00, but still no joy.
Any ideas?
Mine does that and I have the original ROM. A bit of a pain isn't it.
Here's the fix
This was originally posted by Peter for the imate JAM.
I just installed it and it's working like a charm.
1. Download the older version of caller-id from:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Caller ID/IA_CallerID_1.20_WWE.CAB
and transfer it over to your device. Any directory is Ok. I used ActiveSync to put it into the My Documents folder.
2. Remove the file IA_CD-Startup.exe from \Windows\Startup on your device.
3. Rename iacontacts.dll to something else (e.g. old-iacontacts.dll). This file is in the \Windows directory of your device but is hidden. However you can rename it using your PC. Open Windows explorer, and navigate to Mobile Device>My PocketPC>Windows.
4. Rename displayCID.dll to something else (e.g. old-displayCID.dll). Access it via your PC the same as for the previous step.
5. Soft reset
6. Run the CAB file on the device - just tap on it.
7. Soft reset.
That should do it.
I have the same GPRS problem too. However, the link you provided just asked for the password to access that ftp. Hey, acs540, do you know the password or do you have that CAB file? Thanks in advance.
usernameassword is xda:xda
The fix in this post seems to refer to caller id!?! I too get the gprs connection problem and have made it better with different roms but not found a sure-fire fix.
If anyone has a patch that fixes this, please post it!
GPRS now working
Hi,
Finally I tried, or at least halfway, After I removed the CallerID everyone is talking about my Qtek9090 now works flawless regarding GPRS.
This is very interesting that Caller ID software makes GPRS not working
Anyway, now I can start and stop GPRS several times, I have now toggled it 10 times without any problem.
Before I had to reset/toggle radio to make it reconnect after a disconnect.
Thank you all that has investigated this problem!
One last thing, Do you really need CallerID?

I don't use Caller_ID, but Photo Contacts Pro.
Did you also try to change GPRS slot (Class 8 or Class 10) in GPRS settings?

My Exec used to connect to my linksys WAP no probs but since I upgraded the Exec radio to 1.06 it repeatedly tries to connect and then returns to the 'available'
No settings have been changed on the WAP or the Exec so I'm assuming something has broken on 1.06 radio. Also, the Wireless status screen just remains on 'scanning network...'
Is there a thread on here describing where to obtain just the 1.09 radio update? I did a search but as people often add the radio version to their signature I ended up with 697 matches...
Thanks for reading...
neildo.
if u browse thru the ftp server you should seen the radio file your looking for.
it is highly unlikely that an update will degrade performance of your device.

Thanks. I found the file but trying to upgrade it comes back with the incompatible country error....
I'm downloading the recent complete O2 update file and attempting to extract just the 1.09.00 radio file from it.
Will report the outcome.

Hi guys I have 2 questions,
1: I have a MDA Compact 2 that has customised firmware by my employer, some application automatically install when its first turned on after a reset , I have just bought a second one as a spare, is there a way of cloning the firmware from the first one to the new spare?
2: is there a way of using the MDA as a Modem on my pc? We have web and talk but wool prefer to get internet via my laptop?
thanks
1. What brand are you in? T-mobile German, Czech? Which one?
2. Flash wm6, there is an easy way of sharing the MDA Compact II internet connection for PC.
its T-Mobile UK, i cant risk going to WM6 becuase of the mod's by my employer, it runs custom software.
If its been modified by extended rom only to install custom software/settings etc then you can just use Total Commander and browse to \Extended_Rom\ then copy all the files out of it. then on the other device, skip the original customization by soft reseting when its says its about to start, then install the list of extracted cabs from the business device.
For a bit more involved, you can take all the extracted files, build them into an image and then flash them to the other device overwriting the tmobile stuff so they'll always be on there.
If you pair the laptop with the phone, it should detect the presence of a bluetooth modem (not on AKU 3+ tho) which you can then use on the laptop as a new connection dialling *99#
Hi thanks for the reply, I have followed the instructions from here,
http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Use+my+MDA+as+a+Modem?t=anon
but I am having a problem, when it says select access point name I do have any to chose, it just says none?
Any ideas
i have tryied ot on none but it dont work
I think its general.t-mobile.uk
but it wont let me type anything in?
